I just decided to play through The Legend of Zelda, a game I haven't played all the way through since 1991. The console's confirmation was made in a news feed meant for news agencies to extract audio and video excerpts from, which released this afternoon. Specs were not yet revealed, although it was stated that X-Box is slated to ship in fall 2001. Executives from Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games, Infogrames, Midway, Acclaim, Sierra Studios and other developers reportedly extolled the X-Box's virtues, while Activision Executive VP Mitch Lanky revealed that a X-Box port of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is currently in the works. Meanwhile, the Japanese Nikkei Shimbun reports that Capcom, Konami, Koei, Enix and Namco are also developing titles for the system. A highly placed source at a European software company revealed to Daily Radar that more than just announced announcing support for the system, Konami is working on several titles including Metal Gear Solid Remix (tentative title), which will be available at launch. I was like so (oh big deal) when I read the title. Big deal, X-Box, it's an American console, who remembers the past two American consoles? Jaguar and 3D0, no Japanese support, I hoped X-Box would be the same, but Konami Capcom and Namco? Oh boy, I can only hope it will be some crappy Windows architecture, oh wait, this is Microsoft. I just though the console would mainly be a port for PC games. But in direct competition with Nintendo? This will be very interesting. I would keep my eye on the x-box, it's like the dark horse here. You never know, it sounds like it has the 3rd party support of PS2, and the technology of the dolphin. Throw in the reliable Microsoft name, and you have a winner. When is the dolphin release in the US? I know it's fall 2001 but is that Japan or US? Cause if Microsoft manage to get it off before Dolphin......this is gonna get messy for Nintendo. There sounds like there will be for the first time 4 sweet consoles on the market. (Dreamcast, PlayStation2, Dolphin, X-Box) And another thing. What will Microsoft do if the X-Box hits it big? They won't need any of there PC games anymore. Cause I'm sure the X-Box will be internet ready. I think the PC will be a distant memory in a couple of years, with next gen consoles, cell phone internet, and laptops. Sony will have the Japanese market in cement by Dolphin's arrival and when Dolphin comes to the US, the X-box may already be out AND much more powerful. Also the PS2 will have been in US for about a year. Of course we can't forget about Dreamcast, it has huge US sales, which again will hurt Dolphin. I honestly feel Dolphin is dead already, they couldn't have picked a worse time to release. Dolphin will get almost no Japanese sales cause of PS2, the US is busy with Dreamcast, PS2, and the X-Box will steal some, if not all of the Dolphins release. Don't get me wrong, this is very bad, I love Nintendo. But there're gonna die unless they can some how pull off a miracle and get Dolphin off by Q1 2001. But I KNOW they're simply saying Q1 2001 to stop people from getting PS2. They want people to wait for Dolphin then...............DELAY, till Q4 2001. If anything, I've become quite opposed to the Microsoft brand of crap (along with AOL). The reason is simple: my computer and online service consists heavily of both (needless to say, i'm changing soon). If anything, X-Box bodes poorly for Sony's PS2 -- neither company has strong first party support, and, X-Box from a techincal perspective, can easily outdo the PS2. The battle is up for third parties (and I imagine we'll be seeing many ports all around on the next generation consoles...). Nintendo's Dolphin will undoubtedly do fine -- after all, I believe all this is hardware costs quite a pretty penny, and with Nintendo's reassurance they will be priced competitively, along with their franchises, will certainly help them. I'm unsure if anyone's checked the Japanese Sales Chart of late, but Pokemon is consistantly within the top ten, and even thirty, with total sales of over 3 million just for the Gameboy games in Japan alone. You'd have to compile the next six games in the top ten to come around that figure. Personally, I see Microsoft has something of another Sony; both are tremendous corporations with money to blow, and while this may inadvertantly affect Nintendo and Sega, I don't see them killing, or even mutiliating, either company. Like could you get Mew on Staduim and put him on your GB version? With stadium can you get all 151 pokemon? >> Mew is a rental. You can't put him on GB. At least that's what I've heard (IGN, UPNetwork, I don't know). - -Eric- [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Mar 2000 16:39:58 EST From: Nutz4n64@aol.com Subject: Re: e: [N64] The Legend of Zelda In a message dated 03/10/2000 8:18:13 AM Pacific Standard Time, gregorys@xmission.com writes: << >I just can't remember where the Book of Spells is (adds fire to the magic)> Hmmmm, I don't think this is right but for some reason I keep seeing that cave in the desert. When you use the mirror to get on the mountain, and yo talk to that old guy in the cave. Give me some time it's 9:00 in the morning, I'll remember eventually. You do mean Turtle Rock where Zelda is right? The one where you need all the magic to create those pathways? >> I think this is a reference to the NES Legend of Zelda. The book of spells added fire to the magic wand shots. The book in A Link to the Past was only used to decipher the ancient Hylian language. - -Eric- [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Mar 2000 14:51:11 -0700 From: "Gregory A. You can use Mew, though, if you own him in your Gameboy game, but there is no way to acquire him in Stadium. Mewtwo you can earn in Stadium and save to your Gameboy pak.
