If you computer is older than that maybe SC64 might be a good idea. But also Starcraft 64 is $60 and you can get Starcraft on the PC with (I believe) two extra mission packs for $30. I can beat three level 9 cpus on SSB. you just have to know what to be and what level to play. For example, you can be kirby and go to Safron City, then go tot he helicopter pad and use his sword move. When enemies try to jump over to attack you the spinning attack will send them straight down with no chance of jumping back up. You could also play as DK on the original mario level. Go over to the far left of the screen on the bottom level under the bricks and slap the ground continuously. This will cause the enemy to hit the ceiling and ground without getting a chance to even move and get up. Their %age increases by increments of 5 and when they get to about 200 then just use the DownB move and they all die... I play too much SSB... but it is one of my favorites... Mario 64 was a good game but it was slow moving and rather boring looking for all the stars in each stage. Ever notice how in Mario 64 the textures were extremely bland? Or how the music wasn't barely up to par? What about how if you shifted the camera angle just right you could conveniently see through walls or look through the poly's of Mario's head? I found it odd that mario couldnt throw fireballs like in previous installments... it would have added so much to the game. Also, how the heck are you supposed to use different buttons... lets see you have an "A" button which has been used as the jump function for about 2 decades now, the "B" button which always has been some secondary attacking button. I can't remember but can you refresh my memory if pressing Z and Down/Up C in mario allowed him to shoot projectiles? or what about Z and left C as well as all the other combos of buttons. Whats your problem anyway and why do you love Mario 64 more than Banjo? All you can seem to do is point fingers and give less than adequate excuses like "placed" (wtf does that mean?????????). Such superficialities are irrevelent however; the game simply plays better. Mario is faster. He runs faster without the need of pressing button combinations. The sensation of speed and tight control is partly due to the camera which is always focused directly on Mario, even though it can be panned and zoomed on the player's whim. The price for such limitless command over the camera is that it can be sent through walls. This does not affect gameplay. Banjo's camera is regularly made stationary, does not directly focus on Banjo, and is at a high angle, making it inferior. Fireballs were part of Mario's 2d titles. As Banjo's pointless egg spit shows, what works in 2d does not necessarily work in 3d. The eggs are useless and almost impossible to aim consistently. Mario controls nigh flawlessly, and is a seemless extention of the player. By your own admission all Rare did was try to immitate and then throw in some cumbersome button combinations. The idea behind Mario64 is being able to control Mario in 3d. He is fast, responsive and does tripple summersaults at the player's will. Rare missed this point. They loaded their game with mini-games, high res textures, uninspired cartoon chacters, unintuitive button combinations, but they still fell flat next to Mario. Due to the poor standard of 3d platformers on the market - a genre that Mario64 created - Banjo may legitimately be considered decent; but do not forget, Mario64 is still the king of 3d platformers. alexh@ivanhoe.starway.net.au [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ End of n64-digest V1 #1276 ************************** [ To quit the n64-digest mailing list (big mistake), send the message ] [ "unsubscribe n64-digest" (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ]
