Sony made it in a big way because they didn't demand huge fees to third party developers like Nintendo did and the PlayStation hardware was a lot easier to develop for than the Saturn. Sony didn't buy up companies like Psygnosis & Single Trac (actually, they bought Single Trac's intellectual properties, Twisted Metal & Jet Moto, but not the actual company, GT Interactive bought Single Trac) until after they made games that were hits like Wipeout, Twisted Metal, and Jet Moto. Sony brought itself into the market with great hardware and the best deal for developers. I have a suggestion about the new name for the list: How about changing the list from N64 discussion to a list for geeks, dorks, and nerds to talk about those things that make us what we are, such as video games? Don't get me wrong; I think that video games should make up about 90% of the conversation, but that it should also include things like chess, and braces, and various cheeses. If you don't move on this ingenious idea, I'm going to. - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thraxen" To: Sent: Monday, June 19, 2000 9:59 PM Subject: Re: [N64] Vacation - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Saturday, June 17, 2000 9:58 AM Subject: Re: [N64] Vacation > In a message dated 6/17/00 10:57:22 AM Eastern Daylight Time, thraxen@ipa.net > writes: > > > Going on vacation for a week...cya guys next weekend. > > > > Stryder > > Bring us back something good. > > Dave Well...crap. I'm back :( Vacation did not go as planned. I went from Arkansas to Oklahoma to Texas to New Mexico to Colorado to New Mexico to Texas to Oklahoma to Arkansas in 3 days. I have just spent over 40 hours in a truck...*sigh* Long story short, I'm back. I don't know how you kept from completely embarrassing yourself when you bought that. What did you do? Give it as a present to your baby sister and then sneak in to play it when no one was around? You know, there are games more suited for your age group. Check to see if they have the ESRB rating "early childhood". >> Wasn't meant to be "witty," I think snide is more fitting. What kind of gamer are you? You think that there's something wrong with the more cartoonish E rated games? Sheesh. What kind of remark to I make to a post like that? Well, ROBOTICK, the good guys at IGN certainly aren't embarassed to play it, so I guess that means there's no reason for me to be embarassed either. Why don't you try actually "playing" games, rather than hunting for the most bloody thing you can find, eh? - -Eric- [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ End of n64-digest V1 #1282 ************************** [ To quit the n64-digest mailing list (big mistake), send the message ] [ "unsubscribe n64-digest" (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ]
