That would be this August's Space World, where Nintendo is slated to allude to details on what could hopefully be few pieces of REAL GENUINE INFORMATION pertaining to their next big "video-game console". Since you bring up Nintendo's past behaviours, let us examine the build up to the N64's launch. Simply put, the build-up was huge, and so was the launch. Think of Mario64 as the meteor that did cause the extinction of the dinosaurs. Now think of the games that followed Mario64. These subsequent offering from the heavens were not as "revolutionary". In the time it had taken for them to enter out atmostphere, they had been they had burned-up into little, ineffectual pebbles. Could such previously unfathomable sucess be maintained? Sadly, no. The biggest problem of the Nintendo 64 was the delay of its availability after the Playstation : the gap between the two releases was too big and finally Nintendo couldn't fight properly (despite all facts like programming, cartridge...). To show the Dolphin at the NSW would mean that it's ready, and people would'nt understand why the system is not coming out without the next 10 months. I presume that the problem comes from the games. It does not matter how easy it is to develop for the Dolphin, it just takes time ! More, Nintendo wants only good games... But I think the availability of the Playstation 2 almost one year in advance is one more mistake that Nintendo probably does not realize. From Sept. 2000 to Xmas 2001, there is a difference. We know a Mario game is coming, and perhaps a Pokemon game in time for launch (also in the works), but considering how quiet Nintendo's eternal teams have been this past year, I'm sure there's a considerable amount of material in progress from Nintendo. And of course, Midway is never one to miss out on a launch, nor are other large publishers. With any luck we should be able to see some strong support from Capcom and Ubi Soft as they've been providing to Sega's fantastic DC line up. At least, I hope so. And it'd certainly be nice if Konami could do better this time around for Nintendo: outside of the ISS series and Goemon's Great Adventure (in that retro kind of way), there really hasn't been anything worthy of their name brand on the N64. Especially the horrific Hybrid Heaven....ugh. Sure, Mario 64 was great...but a week or two later when you beat it... a lot of people sat around for a couple of months wondering where the hell the rest of their crap was. I was.
