I'm more worried about gameplay, but considering that they 'held back' at E3 I'm guessing they're doing the same here. The Delay: It's Nintendo. However, it's only two weeks, that's all. It's closer to the hoilday weekend AND giving you a bit more time to save money for your games and accessories. Also, the reason they say they're doing it is to ensure that there will be enough GC's at launch to meet demand. Maybe they could launch on the 5th, but it's better for consumers (i.e. - people buying them at launch) so that there's more to go around. Hopefully, my early pre-order will net me a black one. Launch: How many games can you reasonably paly? Plus, this was the pre-show media event. Are there going to be more 3rd party games inside? For my tastes, I've got enough to pick and choose and still have some other things I want. Zelda: When I saw the pics, I WAS disappointed. However, after downloading the movie and seeing it in action, it LOOKS GREAT. I love cartoons and it's does look like a cartoon. I don't have a problem with it. I'm not hot on the way Link looks, but the rest of the package looks great. I'm STILL waiting for more third party action though. So, it's not as good as the FMV, but I'm not disappointed by what I've seen. Next up is the delay. This is very disheartening. Microsoft's power house is coming out earlier. Not a good sign. I guess that I'll at least be home for the launch (Thanksgiving break starts the 17th). Guess my options are a bit limited to Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin, though (still don't know if I'll get Pikmin, but it holds a little interest). On to Zelda. The enemies: kinda cool. The environments: could use some work, but not terrible. Link.... uh, Link? Where's Link? Did they forget to put him in this game. What's that? Huh? You're joking, right? THAT'S Link?! Seriously, is this supposed to be Link or a friggin puppet? You know, I'm likely to take a lot of sh*t by saying this, but I don't think the look of this game is really so terrible. I mean, I definitely would've preferred the original Spaceworld footage, but, the more I see this footage, the more I think that it's at least workable. After all, Miyamoto has done some incredible things in the way of gameplay in the past and I've never played a bad Zelda game (only ones missed were Adventure of Link and Oracle of Seasons). But Link looks... well, sh*tty. If they were going for something like this, I think they should've used the type of model they had in the Nintendo Power comics for a Link to the Past or the one they had in Oracle of Ages when he first sees Nayru (for those that haven't played it, in this scene, it switches from the overhead view to one showing Link standing in awe of Nayru's beauty). Well, hoping this one changes in the future... DRASTICALLY. - -Satoshi _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp [ To quit the NGamers mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe ] [ NGamers" (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp [ To quit the NGamers mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe ] [ NGamers" (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2001 18:35:47 -0500 From: "E. I think the though of it was that Nintendo knows where the they make the most money, and that's with the younger segment of the market. So, they aren't going to give up on them anytime soon. The article also mentioned that they feel that's the age group of the market that determines what's fun or not. It seems like they're still focused on younger gamers but are going to throw a few more bones to older gamers than before, but not at the expense of the younger ones. I really pissed off not because of the 2 weeks. Smash bros melee coming out in Dec and I'm not buying any game until then. What I really mad about is that they are now releasing the system days after the Xbox release. They already know that the xbox is coming out the 8th. They could still make the 5th release date, but just with less systems. They will no doubt lose a few customers to the xbox this way.
