The game truly does look better than GoldenEye. It's another 1st person shooter and the plot seems to be something out of an X-Files episode. One sequence showed the main character (female), shooting then capturing an alien (a Grey) and then carrying the body around. You can also ride vehicles. Apart from that there wasn't much new. You can use two weapons at once ala Golden Eye, looks like the same aiming mechanisms are used. One of the weapons seems to lock onto it's target, but it may just have been an advanced version of the sniper rifle from GoldenEye. The video only showed a few guns, all of them pistols. The woman showing the movie stated that the game will be out sometime in 99, and that's all she knew about a release date. She also said that the game will be in Dolby Pro-Logic surround sound with a few new effects thrown in. - -Andrew [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 May 1998 07:53:41 -0500 From: John Goelzer Subject: RE: [N64] Goodbye 64DD...hello Dreamcast I'm not gonna rag on you; my reason for NEVER buying a Reamcast is that it'll be running a Micro$oft OS. Nuff said. No reason to investigate it any further, IMO. Unless I hear that they're yanking out the WinCE OS (after all it's open season on Gates, maybe Sega'll jump on the bandwagon (wishful thinking)) or that almost all developers are bypassing it and writing directly to the hardware, my interest will remain nil. Don't forget that there will probably be a ton of PC ports coming out for the DC either at the same time as the PC release, or at least VERY soon afterwards. I think that with the DC, more and more games will share platforms with the PC - console exclusivity will become more the exception rather than the rule. Probably only Sega and a few other console exclusive companies will make DC only games. N64 will still be in it's prime when the DC finally launches in the US. The wealth of great games at that time on the N64 will certainly sway a lot of potential DC customers to the N64. To some extent, that's been happening with N64 and PSX, with the PSX at it's peak now, but with N64 catching up very quickly. The jump from 16-bit to 32-bit was quite obvious (2-D vs. polygons). The jump from 32-bit to 64-bit was not as dramatic. Obviously DC will look and perform much better than the N64, but do you think that this next jump to 128-bit will be fairly dramatic, even to the casual gamer? matt ma [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 May 1998 18:00:54 EDT From: Subject: Re: [N64] no 64dd, no problem In a message dated 5/29/98 7:08:29 AM, you wrote: >I don't really care if the 64dd comes out or not. I must say, this is bar none the best baseball game I have ever player. So I first turned on the game and choose Exhibition mode. I pick the Mariners vs. Blue Jays. Then I get to choose my stadium. This is awesome. You can go in and view each stadium like you are really in there, using the C buttons to rotate the camera and move it up and down....it looks like you are really there touring the stadium. So after checking out a few, I picked the King Dome. What I think is pretty cool is just all of the little things added. I like the commentary, where they announce each player when coming up to bat. Also, when batting, you can hear things such as "Hot dogs!" and "Peanuts!" coming from the stands. Also, another neat little detail is when you are right on the mark to catch a high fly ball, the camera will switch to right behind your glove so you can see the ball come down and get caught. The batting system is truly revolutionary in my opionion, and it is truly cool. And like I said before, the graphics are great, and the control is good, using the C buttons in the field to throw to bases and things like that. So after my first impressions, if I had to give this game a score, I would say 9.6/10.
