I have a 3.99 GPA for two years of high school, and I play about an hour of games (computer and console) each day, at least during the school year. I've been in the highest honor track throughout. The appeal of games was what first drew me to computers, but I soon realized it would take some technical know-how to make gams work on my old 386, when I started doing computer stuff about 5 years ago. That is what caused me to become interested in computers. Now I'm taking courses in C++, and I intern at a computer repair shop 3 days a week. - -----Original Message----- From: GamerZ To: n64@lists.xmission.com Date: Friday, July 17, 1998 7:04 PM Subject: Re: [N64] etc, etc, blah blah ,Vi >Videogames does not neccessarily mean being stupid. >I recieved a 100, a 92, and a 96 on my math regents (State Tests), >respectively. >Global studies, 95. When they look at the back, it says very little of the game. I should know this too. Once, I was a Best Buy, playing Tombraider 2 (damn I went far in the level in only 10 minutes) and all these parents were asking me "Which game is better", "Should I buy this or that" , "Would this game be better for a 5 year old". I found that the majority of these parents had sons at a young age. Obviously, they picked the best box art covers, like Mario Kart 64. I just told them what I know of the games like when one asked "Which should I buy, MK64 or SM64. I think I should buy MK64 because it has a lot of stuff on the cover" Litteraly, thats what they said. i just told them that SM64 is good, but MK 64 is better with more friends to play with. A majority ended up taking MK64 because of its awsome cover. Even though this has nothing to do with box art, I just wanted to mention what happened when a parent asked me if he should buy a n64 or a PSx for his 7 year old daughter and son. I told him the N64 since their at a young age and it has, u know, a lot of their age group games. If they were ever to become Teens, their wouldn't be a big decision if they should buy a PSX since N64 is has a great game release schedule (well, not really). Was that the right thing to say? Lets just do it privately, except for this one last message. SC requires startegy and stuff like that. Single player is ok but the nick of the game is battle.net. Its really cool, to play some strategy game against someone. It could take up to 3 hours just to beat someone and when it comes down the last minutes, you either feel a great victory, or a big loss. This is something it would take the N64 a miracle to do. Maybe a possible modem on the 64 DD might make multiplayer. Too Bad...Oh well, you can like what you want...but let me point out that your opinion about 'too un-realistic' is kind of silly. For me anyway, the reason I play video games is because they are unrealistic; it is an escape from the real world. My favorite types of games are RPGs, Adventure/Platformers (like RE2 and Banjo), and destructive games like Twisted Metal, Vigilante 8, and Critical Depth. None are very realistic. I read fantasy books for the same reason...screw Tom Clancy...I want stuff not based on this world (as we know it). > think any games with a kiddie-fantasy type plot (weird monsters, little zap > guns, etc) would make a good movie. Games on the more mature level (Resident > Evil, Goldeneye, etc) make/will probably make good movies. Thank you.... Uhh, I don't think they are more 'mature'...that is stupid. Every FF game that has come to the US has been edited for 'mature' content. Except FF7, and it almost was. BTW, there are already a lot of anime movies based on FF as well as a CG movie that is supposed to be in the works. Also, you say that FF games have 'weird monsters', then you list RE2 as a good game...in case you did not notice, it contains some pretty wierd monsters. Also...you don't think a game with 'little zap guns' and 'wierd monsters' would make a good movie??? Sounds like your typical Alien or Star Wars movie to me. Those are pretty good movies...are they not?
