The N64 has a lot of bad games, there is no denying it, but they don't have games as bad as the deer hunting games, or those barbie games. This is because it is cheap to produce and release a game on CD. Also, when you release a PC game you don't have to have approval from anyone. If you want to make a N64 game, you have to go through Nintendo. You won't see a game which is basically just a collection of movies and you make choices every so often on the N64, but they release tons of that crap for the PC every year. - -----Original Message----- From: Chad Stuart To: n64@lists.xmission.com Date: Thursday, January 28, 1999 10:39 PM Subject: Re: [N64] bad games on the N64 >Actually the cart format helps make bad games >since companies are forced to squeeze the >most out of a small amount of space instead >of concentrating on making a good game. Just think about it for a second.. the N64 has about 130 or so games out for it right now, over 3 years. Let's assume that this year about 100 N64 games will come out. In the same time period, there will be literally thousands of PC titles which claim to be "entertainment software". Probably only a few hundred or so really qualify as a game. Out of those 200, let's say, there will probably be only 3-5 great games, 10-20 good games. That's probably gonna be the same numbers as the N64. But if you look at the proportion, 20 good games for the N64 is 1/5 of the lineup, while 20 good games for the PC is only a tiny fraction of the total games released. - -----Original Message----- From: SF2Dave@aol.com To: n64@lists.xmission.com Date: Thursday, January 28, 1999 10:36 PM Subject: Re: [N64] bad games on the N64 >In a message dated 1/28/99 3:00:44 PM Eastern Standard Time, >glacion@earthlink.net writes: > >> I >> can't really compare Nintendo, because the cart format discourages >companies >> from making bad games since the carts cost so much. > >Are you certain?
