Also spend $90 for 2 jumping pads for a game call Dance Dance Revolution. (they are like the one for nes, where you have to put a big pad on the floor and run and jump on it. except this one u dance on it and try to be like Parappa.) Also spend $80 for 2 dancing control sticks for a game called Beat Mania. Both games are a major hit in japan and hk for psx. Highly recommend anyone getting it. (Was: Best RPG?) I agree. That's the first RPG I ever played, in November 1995, and that's what got me hooked on RPG's. Also for those of you that have never played Wild ARMs on the Playstation, it's very Chrono-Triggeresque. If I had any choice to say what the next Chrono Trigger game should be like, Wild ARMs would be my comparison. I have yet to play Xenogears in its entirety. I have played the demo and it's pretty good, although a bit slow plotwise at the beginning. Wild ARMs, on the other hand, draws you in the moment the game loads. I watch the intro anime FMV almost every time I turn the game on... and sometimes I still watch the preface (non-FMV), which lasts close to five minutes. Excellent, excellent intro. Even Square could learn a thing or two from this game. From this I'm going to start a new thread. What game(s) does everybody think has the best intro/ending? You already know my favorite intro... My favorite endingS go to Chrono Trigger. 14 endings! I still haven't seen them all. Some of them are very funny (the Frog ending; Crono's cat ending...) Some of them are just plain strange (the soldier ending; Magus's duel ending). And of course, the fitting Apocalyptic "Game Over" ending when you fail... which BTW is set in the year 1999. Lavos is coming everybody! Head for the hills! Last years EGM rpg game of the year was not Xenogear, but it was a Saturn game,...forgot the name of it. I wanted to borrow my friends saturn to play that rpg game of the year but never got the time. - -Vi [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Jul 1999 18:26:14 +0000 From: zimmfam@redrose.net Subject: Re: [N64] Earthbound and Sega's RPG game of the year > Date: Thu, 15 Jul 1999 17:58:54 -0400 (EDT) > From: Vi On > To: n64@lists.xmission.com > Subject: [N64] Earthbound and Sega's RPG game of the year > Reply-to: n64@lists.xmission.com > > A note about earthbound, It is one of the easiest rpg I've ever played. > It's fun, but I kinda blast thru the entire game easily. I played the game for a bit, but I couldn't really get into it. For comparison, when I first got my hands on Chrono Trigger earlier this week, I started playing and didn't stop for about 3 hours. When I played Earthbound, I stopped after like half an hour, at most. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but it just didn't appeal to me. Sure, setting it in modern times in the suburbs is pretty cool and it hasn't been done, but the graphics are not so great and the music is not as orchestral and dramatic as in the FF series or any Square RPG. Battles are not random, per se, you can see the enemies, but they're almost impossible to avoid. The battle system is pure turn-based, no countdown like in FF or Chrono Trigger, and the spell graphics are definitely subpar. The graphics during the battles came fairly close to giving me a seizure ;-). - -----Original Message----- From: TreyDX@aol.com To: n64@lists.xmission.com Date: Thursday, July 15, 1999 3:05 PM Subject: Re: [N64] EARTHBOUND EARTHBOUND EARTHBOUND!!!!!!! >In a message dated 7/15/99 1:34:26 PM Eastern Daylight Time, >d.fentie@home.com writes: > >> EARTHBOUND EARTHBOUND EARTHBOUND!!!!!!! > >I'm thinking I should get this game.
