That was true in past consoles when we are talking about RAM in kilobits and single digit processing power. I don't see any problem why the N64 can't handle this. Games generally occur in segments anyway, and the system ususally don't have to keep track of the entire game or can do it using programming tricks where they keep track of certain parts of the game once every few cycles... which is essentially a time difference of a few microseconds. something we won't even notice. With the next-generation, its even harder to see why the machines themselves will be limited. But the issue is that battery, despite their long lives still die eventually. EEPROMS is far more reliable with no shelf life (in theroy it can last forever). The only way for them to die is after you save on it for ten or twenty thousand times. The only downside for EEROMS is they tend to be expensive. I know that a 32Mbyte/256mbit EEprom flash cart has a value of about $500. even 1 megabyte worth of EEpRom could cost a hefty sum. I doubt the Dolphin will come with a keyboard so Nintendo can keep the price low and as for the PSX2, for close to $400 it better come with a bunch of stuff, at least a pack-in game. Most people I know who had a Genesis bought it for the EA Sports games like Madden, NHL, etc. That's one thing the Genesis had over the SNES is that it could do fast paced sporats games without slowdown.
