Oh Yah. I agree, Orbus IS great, because it is "artsy", without sounding pretentious. The album flows, and has some continuity. I was just talking about Orblivion. Not quite. This item about charging ISP's access charges instead of business-line charges was decided against on May 7, 1997. From the FCC: Q: Is the FCC considering allowing local phone companies to impose access charges on ISPs? A: The FCC requested public comment in December 1996 on whether ISPs should pay current access charges, and more generally on how Internet and interstate information services that use local telephone networks should be treated. The Commission concluded on May 7, 1997 that ISPs should not be subject to interstate access charges. There is currently no open comment period on this issue. Well... Hi fellow orb heads =), Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away (sorry, i just cannot imagine what my life was like before i listened to the Orb) i was listening to my favorite techno/industrial show on college radio and heard "Backside of the Moon" and was completely blown away. I had previously only dreamed of music this good. Anyways, the next day i went out on a mission to find a cd by these geniuses and the first thing i found was the Aubrey mixes on cd at Tower (yes, this was a long time ago). I bought it, went home, rolled up a fat spliff, and the rest is history. I have bought all of the orb ever since, seen every show in San Franscisco they played ( the shows at the Warfield were phenomenol ), and saw him spin twice in San Franscisco. One of the times i saw him spin i met him and talked to him for a bit and thought he was a super nice guy!!! He was super irie though, he asked me if i had some erb!!! At that point i could do nothing else but break him off some and roll a fat spliff. It was cool, he was playing in an ambient room on the carpeted floor (yes, the turntables were set up on the floor in the middle of the room, very stoney =) He was on his hands and knees playing some of his favorite records while everyone sat arond him indian style smoking herb with him. It was so cool, it was more like being in his house smoking herb with him listening to him play records than being at a party watching him spin!!! But, I din't get a CD player till I was older - about 1991. So, I got all the AoN stuff I could get my hands on, and ran across an article on the internet. "Groups you might like if you're an AoN fan" Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld was listed, so I bought it (ya, the old US edition) and thought it was OK. After repeated listens on headphones while taking a nap or before going to bed I liked it more and more, and became a fan. How about that? So, thanks to some guy on the Internet for pointing me in the right direction (also leading to other great CDs like the early 808 State and Autechre) Then, in '93 I went to see the Orb in concert at the Warfield in San Francisco. WOW! Super bass and super light show. I had never before experienced anything like it and was obsessed with the Orb star symbol and "6,7,8,9" for about a month afterwards. That's when I became the super-fan and automatically bought anything connected to the Orb. Well, what I could afford, anyway. - - # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info orb" in the message. # Postings must go to orb@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # Latest Orb info: http://www.theorb.com/orbulletins.html -- look here first! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jan 1998 18:52:35 -0700 (MST) From: Reverend bluE Subject: Re: (orb) OrbedGrid well, what I am wondering, is: 1) does anybody read my messages?
