In my opinion, (everyone has one), this was the Orb moving forward and coming up with new ideas. Not just the "pop tunes".(L-F-C, perpetual dawn) These are good songs, they all are, but LX and gang were going somewhere. Sorry guys I don't really like Orblivion. It's certainly the Orb's least interesting work. The tracks are too short. Once you start getting into a track (which are all good) the track ends??? I know they wanted shorter tracks for Orblivion but they should have released a 2 cd version with longer songs. If it wasn't for Orbscure tracks I wouldn't be able to remix Orblivion as much as I do. Orblivion is fun to remix but I make longer mixes though!!!! I always thought 'Pomme Fritz' could have been sold with the slogan "The album that remixes itself!" I still hear new things in that album. It's been out 4YEARS!!!!! God has it been that long???? One last note: The FFWD joke is: "Fripp, Fehlmann, Weston, and Doc." FFWD is ambient ambient ambient. Great stuff. Different. If you find it I suggest anyone pick it up. You'll regret it if you don't. Anyone have the Falconer solo album?? I have it, and if you haven't heard it. you should. I would recommend UFOrb or Orbus Terrarum, as they are pretty easy to find, and pretty listener-friendly. Orbivion is more "commercial" than their other stuff, if you like that. I called 5 times in a month the guy who's working for Orb in Island France. I told him that I was a big fan, bla bla bla and I was looking for the Little Fluffy Clouds 98 Double 12" promo. And I FINALLY RECEIVED IT TODAY ! Well... I don't know why promo albums or 12" exist. I mean, I'm talking about those which will never be released officially. What's the point ? Is it only for DJs ? Not sure, when you look at Rick Wright 12" remixes (never released), for example. Well, I'm looking at the gorgeous MadArk cover of the promo (a Mars landscape with Micky Mars !) and I'm 70% sure : it will probably be released "for all mankind". Let's take at the tracks : Danny Tenaglia's Downtempo groove is a kind of updated Pal Joey remix (the Cumulo Nimbus mix is also there) : same texture, with an ambient ending. Strange for a guy who remixed Pet Shop Boys and Janet Jackson in a housey way. His Detour Mix is more dancey, you can hear snippets of the song in samples; I might be wrong, but he also put Juno Reactor's Luciana and other Orb stuffs in this remix. It's nothing like the original, though. The Adam Freeland Tsunami One remix is interesting, but my favorite is the drum'n'bass remix done by One True Parker (is Andrea Parker the same person ?). A friend of mine bought a copy of this at 10UKP/100FF/17USD. If you're a hardcore fan, it's essential. But don't expect another interpretation by LX, Thomas and Andy in it. It's only the Orb vs other remixers. I discovered the orb right when U.F.Orb was released and grabbed up all their stuff I could find. My favorite CD is probably the Orb Peel sessions on strange fruit (back side of the moon etc.1991). Anyway, been out of the loop for a bit. What is the relationship (if any) between the Orb and the Pink Floyd trance remix albums? Certainly a fair amount of cross sampling it seems. Does anyone have the Orb vs Eno? I have a dub on tape, but no way to get it to cd now that my tape deck died.
