A sweet machine if there ever was one. That's almost US$20 if I remember my exchange rates right. Sorry, but that's insane. I just duped my Aubrey Mixes CD so that I could take'm in my car (and not stress about them getting stolen or damaged, etc.) and it took about 1 hour with a 2x writer and 6x reader. The media (in a package of 10) was less than US$1. Counting my time as free, it cost me US$5. (I took the fellow who owned the burner out to lunch at MickyD's.) To do something like this (in good conscience) you'd have to do it for about 2-3uk pounds, tops. And then you'd have to make it blindingly clear that it is a CD-R and not the real deal. btw, remember that CD's that are over 74 minutes are not going to fit on a single CD-R. - -Steve On Mon, Feb 22, 1999 at 02:32:05PM +0000, MICHAEL KENNEDY wrote: > > how would the list react if i put out some cdrs of some out of print orb > releases for sale at around 10 uk pounds each > - -- ______________________________________________________________________________ Steve Shah (sshah@cs.ucr.edu) | SysAdmin/Coder/Gabbernaut/DJ/Writer/Minister http://www.cs.ucr.edu/~sshah | We're not dropping out, we're infiltrating. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Seams are for clothes, not music. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1999 11:10:03 -0600 From: holli Subject: (orb) orb mp3's I've received a lot of pages about the bootleg mp3's that I used to have on my old web site (hollibobolli.com)... (Scott, let me know where I CAN send an 14 meg Mpeg3 file to you?) It's a runner-up mix of Assassin, called the 'right time to absorb mix'. (For those of you that don't know about it. The "Absorb the Orb" mix contest was a contest to promote the Live 93' album here in America. Buyers of the U.S. only Absorb 12" received an entry form. You had to make a remix (under 15 minutes) of the mixes of either 'Assassin' or 'A Huge Ever Growing...' from the Absorb 12". (same mixes as Live 93') The grand prize (1 first place winner) was two black Technics turntables. 25 runners-up received an autographed copy of the Live 93' CD.) It sounds decent, as this is an Mpeg3, of a tape recording, of a tape recording. (The master tape was submitted to the contest) I tried to clean up alot of the hiss, however. I have other mixes as well, that I did myself. I could Mpeg3 those as well. My friend has another Absorb mix that is also good, but was not a winner. It's of A.H.E.G.P.B.T.R.F.T.C.O.T.U. (long, even as a anagram) Both mixes are near 15 minutes long. I highly recommend it to anyone who can get it or at least the MP3 versions. (Although the CD is much clearer than the MP3's!) For those of you who are curious, it has one track that isn't so rare, the Huge Evergrowing Remix (Orbital Dance Mix) -- the exact same track as on U.F. Off. An observation of mine was that the Kiss Your Love track from the Kiss EP (first track) has some slight beat-mixing flaws. You can hear the beat fall slightly out of phase at points and then be pulled back in. Is it me or does anyone else hear this? Is there a story behind it? Other than the out of phase parts, the Kiss Your Love track isn't all that spetacular. It sounds like someone went wild with a sampler and a drummachine with a cheezy keyboard. It lacks the refined sound that Orb has since gotten. (That sound being noise taken into an art form.) Aside from Kiss Your Love, these are amognst the best versions of the songs I've heard. The disc hasn't left my CD player in days... =) - -Steve - -- ______________________________________________________________________________ Steve Shah (sshah@cs.ucr.edu) | SysAdmin/Coder/Gabbernaut/DJ/Writer/Minister http://www.cs.ucr.edu/~sshah | We're not dropping out, we're infiltrating. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1999 20:56:00 -0700 From: "brandon humberson" Subject: (orb) Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1999 19:55:26 PST can anybody tell me where i can get the orbs Kiss EP? please help me. brandon ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1999 23:44:13 +0100 From: Smiley Subject: (orb) ORBULLETIN: DJ dates for LX # This is an Orb announcement from the ORBULLETINS mailing list. I admit I did generalize the subject of over the counter cough, cold, etc meds (by meds I mean medicine, ben) but I guess you did too with that 1st email. You filled in some of the blanks with that second email, but I still say keep away from that crap... thats my motto. You want to pop that shit in your body, thats your option and if you want to suggest that others do it, that too is your option (even if you have no idea who is reading your advice. Maybe someone who IS underweight, or someone with heart probs, etc.) The least you could do is initially let them know about the FAQ, not after I say something. I admit that I'm not the expert on DXM, but just cause youve done it without ill effect, doesnt mean that others will react the same way. Show a little responsiblity to what you write and at least give out the info at the get go, not after someone (me) freaks out. Over the years, I've seen these "safe" drugs causing short and long term negative effects (Cocaine, Ephedrine, GHB to name a few). I'm only doing this because I know how hard it is to get a chance to see P&T, and because I had to look for three years before I came across it- so if you haven't got anything nice to say about my offering these for trade, then don't say anything at all! However, if you have a well-reasoned argument as to how this trade might rip off the Orb, I'll be glad to hear it!) Nice break beats. Trancy mixing, Fortissimo crescendos! Hyper Dubs!!! I think that it is a nice neat little compilation of other artists that are on the list as well. My favorite track is the one titled "Love (In Dub)". The songs (6 or 8 of them at least) are quite lenghty too. Oh I forgot the title of the last track... and it is amazing too, but I was cruising in my car the other night. I was listening to it really loud too, got so lost in the mixing and building rush of the song that I found myself speeding!! Luckly, I was blessed with not getting a speeding fine! Anyway, get in touch with Sean and his Spindle Co. They are up to something. >Joe from FL "Be Self Actualised" ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Feb 1999 20:09:44 -0600 (CST) From: Jeremy J Graham Subject: (orb) orb posters?
