The director wrote back stating that they interviewed Alex at the Rainbow 2000 rave in Japan. The room they were in was to noisy to use the footage in the film.Apparently, his answers were monosyllabic anyway! She also told me that the Orb will be featured in the book version, which will be a series of essays from top journalists on the subject. Imperfect movie (of course how could it be perfect?!), but such a great entertainment! The editing is phenomenal, like a DJ would, keeping it brisk and fun. Can't wait for the book. A total must for electronic music fans. It's coming out on video this spring. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 Mar 1999 09:49:15 +0100 From: Jean Christophe DERRIEN Subject: Re: (orb) RE: Modulations >I wrote about this to the feedback section of the Modulations site. I saw Andy just before they had this interview. He was depressed, because he thought the group sucked at the concert during a huge storm (but Japanese people and us really liked the performance). Jet lags, storm, I understand why Alex and Andy were monosyllabic :) JCFromParis # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 Mar 1999 15:07:14 EST From: Qube4D@aol.com Subject: Re: Re: (orb) Other ambient To pull this thread back into Orbville, i once saw Loop Guru and Meat Beat Manifesto, at a local club, and LX Patterson was the DJ in between sets. I did really groove on Loop Guru, it was my first expirience with this act, and i was rather impressed. After the show they hung out in the crowd and got smashed. My girl and I ended up hanging out with them thru the rest of the show (they opened). They were very cool, and invited us to follow them to new orleans or georgia or both (i live in Orlando, FL). We didn't nor couldn't go - - hell i had blown off work that night for the minute chance to see ALEX up close (no orb show had come my way since being a fan) Of course i was amazen at his turntable skill and technique. He can cut the fuck out some wax now. the only thing that ruined my night was when the club tuned the lights on at 2am sharp and said shows over. - Lx was only 5-10 mins into the set. (please note, these were kindly contributed by Stephan Hesse and RJ Bijlveld (might have screwed up that spelling, sorry)) so now we have over a dozen complete live shows available (including an LX dj gig from LA '97). also we'd like to announce the official opening (if there is such a thing) of the Orb Remix Audio Archive which was suggested a few weeks ago from the list. basically this is a place for listmembers to contribute their remixes of orb's material, or other unreleased orb remixes. we're starting off pretty slow, just one remix of Assassin available, but it's really cool. it was created by an anonymous listmember and entered in the absOrb contest from '93 and placed pretty well, so comments are welcome on it. the ORAA can be found under the directory ORAA in the archive. i had kind of wanted to get webpages up before i made this update, but doesn't look like that's going to happen. they'll eventually be at http://orb.mocker.org but not quite yet. we're still serving it up ftp-style... so what's the address? ftp.mocker.org/pub/orb/ anonymous login...the live shows can be found under the /live/ directory, and the new Orb Remix Audio Archive can be found under /ORAA/ if you'd like to contribute to the ORAA or you have rare/live stuff for the OAA please contact me. also, there are a few remixes by orb of other bands that i can't identify (under /live/remixes/ if you know that they're still available, please email me and i'll get rid of 'em). in any case, thank you and have a good night. the OAA has left the building. sergio. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Get Your Own Free Pop or Web Based Email and a 10MB Web Site for FREE at: http://www.nettaxi.com! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 05 Mar 1999 14:09:28 -0800 From: Chris Johnson Subject: (orb) U.F.Orb Bits on CD Two questions: 1) Does anyone on the list have the ability/equipment to convert an audio cassette to an audio CD-R (not an MP3)? (I'm assuming that there is at least one "yes" out there). ;) 2) Assuming that there are one or more "yeses", would any of you be willing to convert my copy of the U.F.Orb Bits promo cassette into an audio CD-R? (In addition to whatever else you want to do with it...(MP3ing, etc.) Alternately, if someone already has this available on CD-R, I would love to acquire a copy (either by trade or minimal cash). I want to do this to preserve my cassette before it gets any more worn, and to start making this available to the Orb-list & community.
