Is he collaborating on the next Orb release? I was just thinking about that, and I recall someone (Smiley, I think) saying that he saw him at the Orb gig a few months back...but I vaguely recall reading something about Cauty co-writing one of the tracks.... Or did I just dream that? Hey, on a totally unOrbrelated note (apologies for this, but I hafta know...), did anyone see the Blondie concert on VH-1 the other night? Aside from the fact that the version of "Call Me" was downright abysmal (a real crime, considering the studio version of that song has one of the coolest keyboard solos of all time), the performances were pretty decent all around. But I was unfamiliar with a few of the songs. I'm particularly interested in what the third (?) song was--it had a distinctive ska rhythm to it, but sounded typically new wave.... It had really bizarre lyrics like, "My skin screams out, my blood cries out," or something like that. Quite ominous. Sounded like a really cool hybrid of Madness and 45 Grave.... (Damn I miss the 80s....) Any help on that one would be appreciated.... Later! The new track played @ the Royal Albert Hall certainly wasn't. At least they're going after a bit of a change of style and varying their output. 90% of the music in this country is stale and stagnant. Skidoo here, My two cents here........... I played the lo-fi version through a big fuck-off mixer on my radio show the other night and I fucking love the new track. This is also an edit, I take it??? The only Orb 7 inch mix that was even close to an album version is the 7" edit of Asylum. In that one case, the 7" mix is better than the album version. I just dig the extra melody. Back to the new song. I think it's interesting that they are getting vocal tracks out there. I always wondered what "Assassin" would have sounded like with Bobby Gillespie's vocal. Like it was planned in 92'. I've been into the Orb since 91' and I think the new track is signature Orb with some new twists and turns. The bass line especially. Some of the melodies just grabbed me as Orb creations as well. I think I have warmed up to it!!! I can't wait for the full length. Thanks to all and a Happy Bunny Day to all as well!!
