Also as a question to the group, why the repetition on the OAA (Aheg Orbital Dance)? And I know the probable reason why Textures and Aubrey Excursions are mostly mono .... On most board mixers, you send your channels to a submixer that assigns left and right channels to a main mix .... my Mackie has 4 submixing channels for stereo. I can send any of my 16 to submix 1-2, or 3-4. But the catch is I have to have another two buttons pressed to make it stereo. I can send submix 1 to the left or to the right, or both, for example. What probably happened was that those tracks in stereo were sent to a submixing channels that had a setup like this, and those buttons were properly set on that submix, but everything else went to one that didn't have those buttons set properly. It's an innocent mistake and I've made it several times myself. It's also the sort of thing that can go for weeks and you won't catch it unless you're trying to do a stereo effect and you have to figure out why you're not hearing it. hope this is good .... Also by the way .... the Radio Orb thing from the Toxygene site ... can someone get that streamed properly and put on OAA? I'd love to hear it but I can't get it to stream properly on the shitty network I'm on. It's great alright. for all the anti GD people out there, there are no actual songs on this disc that appear elsewhere, and NO VOCALS. some of it quite jazzy (branford Marsalis appears on a track), and some very dissonant and abstract. Not as heavily synthesized as the typical bands whose names are dropped on the list, but I reccomend it. Gavin _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? And on that note if you like GD and Like Tribal music (organic drums and what not) Then you must check out Mickey Hart's (one of the two grateful dead drummers) newest CD -- He's been working on this side project (even before Jerry died) called Planet Drum. This is basically Mickey Hart, travelling the world studing indegineous drum beats with talented natives. This is as Tribal as it f*cking gets. :-) Their first release was great, but this latest venture went above and beyond the call of duty. He started really finalizing the concepts you can see imerging on the first one. But wait there's more. The new CD is titled "Supra-Lingua" and it comes with a bonus disc, where they took some of the songs and let them be remixed by the likes of Ritchie Hawtin (aka Plastikman) amoung other notable producers, etc. Definitly worth checking out. Actually, there are at least two distinct Dr. Who themes.... The theme was redone during (I think) the final season of Tom Baker (or was it the first season of Peter Davidson?).... It's been years since I've seen the show.... The local PBS affiliate here in the U.S. stopped carrying it after the first season of Collin Baker. I was a big fan at that point.... Speaking of Doctin' the Tardis and other things related to the KLF.... I listened to Chill Out for the first time last night-- WOW! Anyway, I *did* notice something that sounded VERY familiar...it was the song entitled something like "3 AM Outside Beaumont," or something to that effect. Anyway, I thought where I had heard the acoustic guitar part before, and then it hit me: the exact same "theme" (played on acoustic guitar, I think) was used by the group, B-Tribe, four years LATER, on the song called "Albatross," from the album, _Suave Suave_.... Has anyone ever heard of someone else sampling the KLF (or the Orb)--as opposed to the other way around??? Also...what's this album called _Space_? Is it like Chill Out? If so, can anyone burn a copy for me? Later! They fine the same amount if you have real audio on your site. I've heard about this SPACE release for years now, and it seems like there's no hope of finding a copy. If anyone has it AND the capacity to burn, how about setting up a trade or two? I'd gladly send the blank and a tape of some ORB rarities. With all this nonsensical stuff lately, I'm really in the mood for something concrete. The last trade I did on this list was over a year ago...with Vince Frank, who, if I remember correctly, did a few tapes for blanks & postage...I was/am eternally grateful!!! - -Bill ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Skidoo here, With Vince's thought. That "Albatross" by B-Tribe is a cover version. The original was done by Fleetwood Mac in 1969. What that is, on "Chill Out" is the original version and a guitar sample of "Oh Well part 2" also by Fleetwood Mac. I loved early Fleetwood Mac since I was a kid. Obviously so do the Rockman Rock and King Boy D. (The KLF for you newcomers :o)) BTW: Chill Out was the first album in NME to score a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10. It is certainly in my personal top 10 of the decade, if not all-time. Skidoo says peace and you all must get OUT. And that's a compliment. I'm dying to get OUT. 23 Skidoo "OUT P.S. Definitely a classic, Vince. My favorite sample is still from Van Halen's first album. The intro the song "Eruption" is looped ad nauseum in conjunction with the "Rock Radio Into the 90's and beyond..." sample. Having worked in radio I find it a gas. Actually, I used to use it for tags for my show right as I was about to leave for radio for good due to corporate buggery. That and the guitar and intro part to Nirvana's "Tourette's", you know, the "Moderate Rock..." bit? Anyway, I don't think anyone really got it but it was my two fingers to the Philistines. Oh yeah, I am also partial to the KLF's send up of the Dr. Who theme. BTW anyone hear the new Baby Mammoth yet. EXCELLENT!!! Peas??? OUT!!!
