I have no idea. I absolutely love that track :) in fact Orbvs Terrarvm is one of my fave orb albums. incidentally, could someone tell me what the difference is between the different edits of the album? I noticed in lazlo's discog that there seem to be 2 versions of the album, one of which is slightly shorter than the other (and I have the shorter one). # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Jul 1999 19:12:48 +0100 From: nemesis1 Subject: Re: (orb) Good brand of CD for Audio copies At 09:59 20.7.1999 -0500, you wrote: >Although I'd hate to perpetuate this Off Topic Thread, i feel i need to jump >in also. There's a nice page about blank cds & factories and quality etc on one of the warez pages out there. don't remember the url offhand, but you should be able to find the link via http://www.gamecopyworld.com (or .org .net or whatever. don't have my bookmarks handy). very interesting page. don't remember if I read on that page or somewhere else that aparently it's better to write audio cds at higher speeds otherwise you might end up with lower quality (both because of media and because at lower speed, the head is longer on same space with lot of heat, and can cause the chemicals to muck up a bit *shrug* all I know is, that my traxdata 4120 cdr reads audio at up to 12x speed, at no loss of quality... I was impressed when I bin compared the same track ripped twice and got NO differences between the 2 wav, I was also impressed when it ripped the tracks of a badly damaged squarepusher cd I had which I could not play on other players, and there was NO drop in sound quality, and no errors or hiccups that I could hear (!). I do all my writes at 4x speed, no probs. I've mostly used traxdata gold & silver cds and pioneer silver (because I could get them fairly cheap here :) and have had no problems with them at all so far. >about my third bulk order, they switched the Brand to Mitsumi.. And I've mitsumi or mitsui? (there is a difference :) I havn't seen mitsumi cds yet. but mitsui *shudder* I havn't had problems burning mitsui cds, but I and other people I know have had problems with them being recognised in some cdroms :P (branded mitsui gold, in case someone was wondering) (my setup: my old p133, 32mb of ram, 1.2gb ide quantum fireball hd, traxdata 4120 pro scsi cdr with an advansys scsi controller (fast or ultra, I forget, it was part of the 4120 package), win95 osr2 & Nero v4.something_recent. works like a charm. aparently the cdr drive is a teac cdr55s, which ranks quite highly amongst copy fiends ;) *coughcough* >I just think the problem is that there is a lot of sub-quality production >going on in both CD-R's and Stero Compnents sadly I agree :( cheap labor, cheap parts, cheap productions, cheap everything. then again, I tend to think that they sorta do it on purpose, because if they all made robust quality stuff, then they'd run out of customers soon... why not make it cheap so you can sell the people the same product many times over and keep the money rolling in? let the buyer beware... that's one reason why certain companies are small and make quality products in low volumes. they make quality items which last and they care about customer satisfaction. it also serves as a great indirect advertising. >(Sony's consumer line tends to be the worst, I've never seen a sony portable >last longer than a year). think about it, it makes sense. I forget who said it or where (maybe on irc?) but some guy had bought 3 discmans in 3 years, because never lasted more than a year each. geez, they sold him the same product 3 times, because it was "cheap". if it had been of decent "lasts-a-lifetime" quality product, they'd only been able to sell it to him once... # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jul 1999 02:52:24 -0400 From: chicken Subject: (orb) forsaken cd just when i was getting ready to order from http://www.ndirect.co.uk/~nobones/, i found the Forsaken album remix CD here in new york city Forsaken: the music- the swarm BONES CD 02 this is the cd that includes: Flameout (Andy Hughes from the Orb remix) thanks to JCFromParis for his info and review i also picked up a used copy of the double cd uf orb note: if you keep searching orb, you will find orb chicken # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Jul 1999 01:25:54 +0200 From: Nicola Battista Subject: (orb) Mp3 and Open Music Format Petition http://www.mp3.com/news/301.html I already signed. bye, Nicola (Dj Batman) Battista # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jul 1999 22:30:13 EDT From: "Peter Henry" Subject: (orb) Flow???
