They sampled the hell (no pun intended) out of _The Legend of Hell House_ on more than a few of their songs.... Oh, and they made good use of samples from _A Clockwork Orange_ ("New way? What's this about a new way?"), _2001: A Space Oddessy_ ("My mind is going...I can feel it."), and some other movie I'm not familiar with on the tune "Tin Omen," I think. Or maybe it was "Rivers." Something from _Rabies_. But what I would like to know is, what is the sample in which the guy belches, and people start laughing, and a guy screams, "Don't you laugh, damn you! Don't you laugh!" 2001: A Space Odessey (I'm really butchering the spelling of that word!) is sampled left and right by a lot of groups, I've noticed: Skinny Puppy, New Order (who used pretty much the same samples SP used), and Banco de Gaia ("My God! It's full of stars!"). Has Orb used this movie at all? They have shitloads of old rock & blues records, but I've never once seen them play anything. Anyways, I've played lots of Orb for my dad. Davidson will be charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, public indecency, and public intoxication at the County courthouse on Monday. The suspect allegedly stated that as he was passing a pumpkin patch, he decided to stop. "You know, a pumpkin is soft and squishy inside, and there was no one around here for miles. At least I thought there wasn't," he stated in a phone interview from the County courthouse jail. Davidson went on to state that he pulled over to the side of the road, picked out a pumpkin that he felt was appropriate to his purposes, cut a hole in it, and proceeded to satisfy his alleged 'need.' "I guess I was just really into it, you know?" he commented with evident embarrassment. In the process, Davidson apparently failed to notice the White Plains police car approaching and was unaware of his audience until Officer Brenda Taylor approached him. "It was an unusual situation, that's for sure," said officer Taylor. "I walked up to (Davidson) and he's just working away at this pumpkin." Taylor went on to describe what happened when she approached Davidson. "I just went up and said, "Excuse me sir, but do you realize that you are screwing a pumpkin?" Taylor continued, "He got real surprised, as you'd expect, and then looked me straight in the face and said, 'A pumpkin! Damn... is it midnight already?'" Called the Smart Bar last night and was told that I could buy tickets at the door but they werent selling any advance tix. Don't wanna do that in case of early sell out. Referred to a place that sells advance ducats for the Metro (cant remember the name). They indicated they only sold advances for the Metro. Any help would be most appreciated. weeksmo # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ End of orb-digest V2 #259 *************************
