I actually thought it was some way round the record companies monopoly, and that he was to sell such things as Orb (MLP audio) DVD's, etc. I for one am ready to take out a bank loan to cover the costs of replacing all my present collection, for the Orb mixed in Periphonic sound. Four channels plus the separate sub-base and that "center front" speaker, placed high! No doubt the 6 channel portable player and headphones will soon follow. Can't wait. Had better list all our old collections on e-bay now, no-ones going to want mere stereo Orb, in future. Must agree with everyone that said what a fine album Alex's Ambient Meditations 2 is. Andreww M. Kontrabecki and I finally got a phone line and found out that the list has been pretty active in the two months of my absence. First off let me say a big Thank You to RJ for keeping me on the MP3 tree, I was really expecting to grovel a lot to get back onto the tree. Thanks. I'm also not so sure exactly how it works though, should I send out the money to my contact now or wait to get the discs? Now, I'm sounding like a stoopidhead... Secondly, the reason I was without a phone for so long was that I moved. No biggie there but, it leads me to ask what list members would reccomend as far as containing your CD collection is concerned? I have all of my CD's alphabetically sorted and on this huge shelving unit. Everytime I move I get really frustrated with having to lug all of this plastic around, I do it, but begrudgingly. A few of my friends have their collections in those disc wallets, but I'm thinking that with imports and limited edition releases one would want the whole package together, right? This may just be a moot point but I figured you guys would have some great suggestions. Thanks. Anyone get the Quannum Spectrum CD? I think it's pretty good though I'm not such a big hip-hop fan... Oh yeah and it's been mentioned at least once, but the recomendations and info of this list are simply some of the best. (See eBay for what happens to the wallets and their contents...) I also find them harder to reorganize and to find stuff in than in a decent shelving system. The sheer bulk of jewel cases is annoying, but it does make it harder to walk off with a bunch of them. :) I'd recommend one or more dedicated, quality CD-bookcase-type-thingies. They are nice and heavy, and you can usually find them at an unfinished furniture store in a variety of sizes, then finish it to taste. Also, IKEA finally introduced something to help bulk storage of CDs (most of their so-called CD storage will only hold 100 or fewer CDs); a lifter shelf that can be put on top of a shelf in a normal bookcase that lets you store two rows of CDs on a single shelf, with less of a massive waste of space. I have a bunch of milk crates to hold my CDs when they move...each crate holds about 180 CDs, and they are sturdy enough to handle the rigors of moving while protecting the contents nicely. Mind you, 180 CDs are bloody heavy. ;) Chris np: Pink Floyd - Animals trance remix (boy, these "trance remixes" are amateurish cack) # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Sep 2000 10:08:25 +0800 (WST) From: Simon Bennett Subject: Re: (orb) DVDs : X-mix fast forward and rewind- ken ishi ooh, ken ishii helped me and my band out by adding wee farty noises and aeroplane sounds to our music during the production of our album and i've jammed onstage with him over the internet. his latest album - the one with the light blue cover - isn't much my cup of tea though. womble, in a mood to namedrop :) - -- ............................................................ womble: http://home.it.net.au/~womble/ "she's often inclined to borrow somebody's dreams 'til tomorrow." ............................................................ # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Sep 2000 06:56:25 GMT From: "Spear man" Subject: re:Subject: (orb) live Orb date? (they'll cut the stuff too if you don't have tools =) comes to about $100 per bookcase if i recall correctly, plus a bit of time to assemble (which is insanely easy). as to the packing for a move--the boxes that a case of paper comes in (10 reams) is perfect. adds some padding, and get 2 layers of 2 rows, about 100cds per box. should be able to find them anywhere that does lots of printing (insurance co, hospitals computer operations, universities' OIT or MCIS dept's, or even retail stores that sell paper). *sigh* and seeing that i have a move approaching at the end of the year, time for me to start collecting boxes ;-) An'nai ===== http://rainforest.care2.com/i?p=574040404 Join Care2.com's Race for the Rain Forest! you will recieve NO spam But I feel so sad, can this be right? They're the guys I love pissing off by ordering all the back catalogue/never released items that they couldn't possibly have... And if they do, you can then sell the items via e-bay (though CDZONE have never had any of the items I've ordered - yet!)... Good for a giggle...
