I turn my head for a day or two and look what happens! I knew it was about time for another list. Who brought this up? ...As always the lists so far have been very good, maybe a little heavy in one or two genres but that's just my opinion. Remeber folks, there's a LOT of music out there. And for those keeping the records straight, here's my input: Quannum -Spectrum & 'I Changed My Mind' 12" Rashaan Roland Kirk Anthology - Does Your House have Lions? Roland Kirk - Here Comes The Whistleman [live] Orb - Cydonia CDR-1 [Thanks Sylvaine!] Orb - live 93 LX - Ambient Meditations 2 Steve Earle - Transcendental Blues Bowery Electric - Lushlife T.F.O.D.M. - Another Place in The Sun INDK - Any Last Words [demo] Refused - The Shape of Punk To Come [or Internat'l Noise Consp.] The Tragically Hip - any Les Primitifs du Futur - World Musette [that may not be the actual title, my french is bad] Anita Kerr, Rod McKuen & the Sans Sebastian Strings - The Sky Fareed Haque - Voices Rising Mick Harris - Hednod 03 Dave Brubeck - Moscow Night [live with pictures of Reagan and Gorbachev inside] Freight Elevator Quartet/Dj Spooky - File Under Futurism Enough of that... Thanks to all of those people who replied to my 'what do I do with my CD's?' question, I was surprised to find so many people had their CD's alphabetized [as do I]. Hooray for OCD's!!! Now what do all of you do when it comes time to move your vinyl? I just grin and bear it. But I don't have that much, maybe six or seven feet along one wall. Alphabetized though! This is getting WAY too long, hope you all have a great day! Andrew M. I'd be getting in on wax. I think it's a great mix. While I can't claim to have all or even a majority of the series, I've yet to be anything but impressed with any of the DJ Kicks comps. The N.O.W. mix is farily hip-hop-heavy... aw, heck, here's a list of the included artists: Type, Only Child, Saukrates, DJ Paul Nice, Grand Unified, N.O.W. (multiple cuts), Jerry Beeks, D.I.T.C., Kenny Dope, Tribe Called Quest, John Cameron, Blackalicious, DJ Trax, Freddy Fresh, Aim, Deckwrecka, Martin Brew, Smokers Blend, Deadbeats and Syrup. Highly recommended. > Hexstatic - Rewind > Same for this. I love this album. I'd say this one is worth getting on CD, though, as it includes a second disc of videos for pretty much all the songs on the album (and a new "video remix" of "Timber" by Hex and Coldcut). The audio style totally reflects the cut & paste aesthetic displayed on the Hex/Coldcut collaborations and thus the videos are similarly "in sync" with the audio, with the same sort of "visual sampling" approach. A bonus for me is that they seem to be obsessed with vintage video arcade game imagery and sounds (there's a great track called "Vector" that's totally built from sounds and images from all the classic Atari vector games: Tempest, Battlezone, Asteroids, etc.). Seems to me the point of this series is to present a mix, not just a selection of unmixed tracks. I guess *both* the albums I replied about (this and the Hexstatic) are best bought on CD, even for you vinyl snobs (kidding - no flames necessary). > spinning: Jazzanova - Caravelle 12" Saw one of these guys (Eric? Most charity CDs are full of "will this do?" tracks and crap that isn't worth releasing - BUT NOT THIS ONE. There are some great tracks on it, and exclusives/remixes by The Orb, Graham Massey (808state), and Youth amongst many others. It can be ordered from: http://www.survival.org.uk/cd.htm This wasn't working earlier today, but I spoke to Survival and it has now been fixed. They have also promised to keep an eye on it, in case it falls over again. ONE POINT TO NOTE: THE COST OF THE ALBUM IS THE _SAME_ NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE!!!! SHIPPING TO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IS INCLUDED IN THE COST OF THE ALBUM. Cost in UKP is Ģ14 (c.$22 US), so: - it's a LOT cheaper than buying it on import - it's for a VERY good cause SO - WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???? CLICK THE LINK AND BUY A COPY!!!! ;-) Thanks for reading this, and I hope loads of you order the CD.
