Hey--sorry for this off-topic post, but I'm going nuts trying to find the source of a quote. Now, this WOULD make a wonderful Orb sample, so I figured that someone would know this source. It's either from a movie or a television show, and I KNOW I've seen this recently. Anyway, the quote goes something like this: "That is the most insanely idiotic thing I have ever heard in my life. We are all dumber now from having heard it. May God have mercy on your soul." Absolutely hilarious. :-) I *want* to say that it's from the movie _Galaxy Quest_, but I think I'm way off base.... Was it from the t.v. show _Futurama_ perhaps? Or _The Lone Gunmen_? For some reason I think it's sci-fi related.... Help? Thanks! The police up here have been cracking down on "raves" (which they take to mean any event with electronic music) after discovering that *gasp* people were actually having a good time and not hurting anybody (can't have that!) As a result, there's been a big increase in the amount of "security" (well, guys wearing shirts that say "security", anyway) to prevent this kind of thing, especially at the venue the Orb is at.... AFAIK there is no vinyl release of Cydonia in the US. For the purposes of this, I listened to the general release UK and US CD. The US CD seems on a couple of cursory listens to be a different pressing. I'm not actually sure if it's different, but it's immediately apparent that it's a louder pressing. The high end stuff seems to be far clearer, if that makes sense. The Bass stuff didn't seem too much different, in that I expected the distorted stuff [that I'd listened to on the CDR's and UK version a fair few times] to be really taut and crisp. It wasn't, it just sounded the same but just louder. I've given it a few listens in the car, and it just seems to be the high end stuff that's clearer [louder??]. The vinyl version will always sound different - it's the way that CD's in general are pressed [anyone on list care to jump in here and explain technically one way or the other] I think, from memory, that certain frequency ranges and stuff get capped and they don't on vinyl, hence why the voices sound like voices on the vinyl. Analogue verses digital and all that. Also - those poxy Mark Pritchard remixes of once more - I didn't know it was actually the same Global Communications that everyone was talking about ***collective groan from the list*** - Anyway - obviously they did the classic 76:14, and I know they remixed an indie band on their label [dedicated] but I've heard nothing else from them apart from 76:14. Anyone care to proffer a few titles that are worth listening to?
