I don't know what to think. Is badorb saying that all this music I've been paying for and waiting for is going to be released on CD anyway? Back Catalogue? Why bother release them monthly? Why not just release them all right now? Why not just throw all xx many records in a box set and sell them at once and be done with it? Maybe I'm confused, but Badorb has lost it's magic for me -- i was expecting better news. :::::: Greetings once again dear friends. I, Garphoo, His Omni-Present Completeness, trust that you are absolute in your Bobness. As The Moon of Long Nights ascends, I would like to wish all our Friends of Gardonia and Bobby Dazzlers everywhere a jolly holiday and hope that everybody is enjoying their Bobs & Togs. I would also like to thank you for your comments and suggestions as we appreciate your input. On with proceedings dear friends, outwards bound we venture… In my infinite wisdom, I have decided to keep FUSIONIC - BOB#8 on the site until 13th January 2002. There are a variety of reasons for this. Santa refusing to leave the Sauna Temple with a bevvie of Gardonian beauties is one of them. Normal monthly service will be resumed in the New Yera - BOB#9 will now arrive at the site on 13th January 2002 with The Moon of Snows. Now for some more Bad news: As from BOB 11 (14th March 2002) we will be making each BadOrb.com release available on CD as well as vinyl. We will also be opening a back catalogue section in the Gardonian Gift Shop (the ‘commerce’ section to humans), which we plan to have in place for the start of the New Year. We will also be placing a BadOrb.com CD compilation in the Master Temple for worship in May. It will feature all your favourite Gardonian characters and BadOrb audio stimuli, selected and stirred by Pantoes Relax. And now friends, if you return to the BadOrb.com site on New Year's Day 2002 we will have an extremely exciting Gardonian News Bulletin. Take care my friends, and may your pressies come with batteries. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 12:07:59 -0600 From: John Goelzer Subject: RE: (orb) WTF? > Is badorb saying that all this music > I've been paying for and waiting for > is going to be released on CD anyway? > Back Catalogue? Why bother release them monthly? This came up once before when they repressed BOBs 1-3. I think repressing (back catalog) totally dilutes the strong original concept for the label. It also makes me feel like a sucker for ordering multiples, thinking as I did so that it was my only crack at getting these records. What's unclear from Garphoo's message, though, is whether the forthcoming back catalogue items are actual vinyl represses or part of the new CD offerings. I'd feel better about having bought all the multiples if the vinyl pressings *remained* one-shot deals, but the CD copies were always available as back catalogue items. Anyone agree/disagree? Anyone know whether the back catalogue is offering vinyl or CDs or both? I sent another report last weekend and *again* no show in the digest. Easily fixed (and I'll have what your having!) Merry Christmas: >To: orb@lists.xmission.com >Date: 3:28PM, 8 December 2001 >From:justina@toysatellite.org >Hello Orbsters, I wrote a report about the Orb *outdoor* concert near Melbourne 2 weeks ago but it didn't come through the digest. Anyway, just back from the Orb *indoor* concert in Melbourne, I can report it was a fantastic night. The whole house rocked :D Who: - Alex Patterson with no hair, playing records. He got the timing wrong sometimes, making things tricky for the others, but OK it was funny. - A man with brown pageboy kind of hair who mixed and played bass guitar and had a lovely smile. - Another man with brown shorter hair and sharper features, mixing (he would rip a strip of masking tape off the mixing rig at the end of each track and toss it down the side to read the layer underneath.(How organised). - A man with blonde spikey hair who didn't play anything but sat low behind the mixing console, making vast gestures to the venue mixing desk behind/above the audience. Finest moment: Intro to Blue Room, just as the acoustic bass guitar kicked in. Wow it all came together. Nice one! The video was good and appropriate as well. If anyone from Melbourne who attended is reading - trust you also had a super evening!! --- What I most want to communicate is one big THANKYOU ORB!! Thank you for making a fantastic concert for the Melbourne audience. Thankyou for playing some of your classic tunes, and those impeccable Orbish voice samples. Thankyou SO MUCH for all the great moments we've all had over the past 10 years or so, hearing these musical ideas. THANKS! So glad you came to Australia _finally_ --- If I could meet Orb people while they're here, as a gesture of appreciation, I would take them to a very special place in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains (near Hanging Rock).. on a warm day, to sit atop a hill in the shade of gum trees (or recline on low, lazy branches) to watch the big fluffy clouds sculpting a reflection of landscape below, or the patterns the wind makes in the grassy slopes. A perfect place to doze, listen to music or make handheld music with headphones on. Most of all, sometime in the afternoon at this particular place, about 3 tribes of kangaroos come across the hills from different directions and meet, on their way to water. It looks abit like a scene from Jurassic Park. Then the brave scout kangaroos come forward to check out the humans, if we're OK then the other kangaroos can pass. It's very special, like a T1 connection with ancient dreamtime. But hopefully Orb people have done something like this here already :) - -jc # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 12:15:30 -0600 From: John Goelzer Subject: RE: (orb) Orb indoor concert in Melbourne, Australia > A man with brown pageboy kind of hair who > mixed and played bass guitar and had a > lovely smile. I've come to a decision about the Bad Orb *thing*. First, the idea is excellent. Records every month, limited editions, yadda yadda. FAX does this; Ian Boddy does this, if anyone knows who he is; and I love it. While I don't understand the difficulty in running a decent business, I guess every business has its growing pains. That's no excuse, however. What gets me though is this: who the bloody hell is Garphoo, and who the HELL scripts these emails?! They are a trip in and of themselves. It's a baffling thing, this BadOrb idea.
