I myself (living in the U.S.) went on a quest looking for the style cds unsuccessfully. But thanks to a previous list member's recommendation I also used Action Records and received them in about five days! I found it cheaper to order from over there then to buy from a company that makes its money selling imports. So if you're having trouble getting the goods...go to: http://www.action-records.co.uk/ I also picked up the Radiohead "Meeting People is Easy" video which has been once again delayed for U.S. release for another several months. Unfortunately, I forgot that the U.S. is the only place in the world that uses NTSC, not the PAL format that the video comes in. Luckily, I found a few shops that have equipment to convert the format into NTSC on another blank tape for about 15 bucks. Now then, Aphex Twin. This one has been itching the back of my neck for a few months, but I never mentioned it. I went to see Aphex Twin in my lovely Washington, D.C. last year. The show was opened by Death in Vegas and the Sneaker Pimps of all people!? Anyway, Mr. James appeared at about 1 a.m. and immediately hopped on the couch on the back of the stage, and every once in a while would take a drink of water and click something on the small laptop computer on a table in front of him. The music was, of course, great, but nobody was quite sure how much of it he was making live. Unfortunately, the vibe of the crowd was not amused. I was hoping for a happening dance show, but a local radio station had built the show up as a Sneaker Pimps show, so the people there just stood in place and stared. Does anyone have any idea what he does regarding playing live at a show? Does he choose when samples begin, or edit waveforms, or play solitaire?! (The dancing bear-things made up for it a little, anyways). Since I have not had the pleasure of seeing the brothers Orbital play live, how do they differ in their technique. From what I've read, they're obviously more happenin'. Is anyone going to see the Underworld show in D.C. next month? No more "fightin' words," please. We're all brothers and sisters here. Uh oh, I think the Corona is starting to talk.
