Armaggedon? Well, I got something called Armaggedon, though I doubt it's the one your looking for. It'll make you laugh, however! http://www.vbe.com/~alenius/MP3/armageddon.mp3 > btw i was on a deep house session last night, jesper dahlback literally > destroyed my physical health... the man surely knows how to spin. Bah! I'm sick of most house. There's only a few people that can make good house (Darren Price and Chem Bros comes to mind), but I'm glad my scene is shifting from house to more D&B. I can dance to that shit all day long :) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I was listening to a few songs from Squarepusher and it sounds like a combination of his old (D&B) and new (acid jazz) styles. I couldn't buy the CD due to lack of funds. (I hate being jobless...) Though, I think I'll put it on my list of CDs to own. Anyway, nice to have you back Brendan, don't forget to take care of that ancient MP3 I gave you. Oh, and BTW, there was some question about Orbital's 11:30-1:30 slot at Cream's New Year's Eve party in Liverpool. I just read in a mag, apparently the brothers have confirmed that the midnight song will be "Chime." Now you know. That makes this an Orbital-related post :) Later all - KEL # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orbital" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orbital@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Orbital discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?orbital ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Dec 1999 15:30:58 -0800 From: Jon Green Subject: Re: (orbital) compaq ad At 10:42 07/12/99 +0000, Michael Kennedy wrote: >does anyone know what the track on the compaq advert is >i'm sure i've heard it before >i thought it was aphex twin or something like that but i'm not sure "donkey rhubarb" by Aphex? I ordered one from Tower Records >(awesome!) and I got a long >edit of Another Way and a long edit of >Avenue. I am sure there are others >out, can anyone help with that? Well, yes, it's on the Disco.Tech album, and I have to admit that PVD is beginnning to sound boring to me. He hardly ever uses more than 2-3 notes for his tracks. Even though it's trance, that's a bit too little creative or inspiring for me and still it becomes a club hit. At HMV they've got 2 versions of Another Way/Avenue on single, and so far I've seen 3 different vinyl releases of it. >Do people like Agnelli&Nelson or Matt Darey have albums or just >singles? >How about System F or any of the other people who you may >find on comp >albums like Trance Nation or Gatecrasher. >Lastly, there have been some cds called Euphoria. I have Euphoria >Ibiza >mixed by Matt Darey. How are the other Euphoria releases? My flatmate has the Euphoria cd with the 2nd mix disc by Jon the Dentist. Jon the Dentist part is very hardcore trancey I'd say, but the first disc is merely a dj mix (obviously) of already more commercial club hits, i.e. Chicane's "Saltwater", System F's "Out of the Blue", ATB's "9PM (Signum mix)", etc. Good listening, but not worth the first disc, and I don't like really hardcore trance either, so Jon the Dentist's contribution kind of misses too. I got the Disco.Tech album from Gatecrasher/Inc. however. The Plasma disc has some rhythm stompers by artists the likes of Leftfield, Planet Perfecto, Timo Maas, Neve, Paul van Dyk, etc. and the Future disc is one long trance mix starting off with a brief version of Barber's Adagio for Strings (Not the William Orbit version). All in all, a decent enough album, maybe not worth all the money, but in comparison to Cream 2000 anthems (which btw has Orbital's original version of Chime on it), the Euphoria 3 by PF Project, Ministry of Sound's Annual Album and the Club Kiss Life or whatever it's called, I decided to go for this for the reason that I wanted to check out some new trance artists and not only get another version of Paul Johnson, Funkstar Deluxe, Onephatdeeva, etc. Also, Orbital are featured in this month's Future Music talking away about their headlining Cream on New Year's eve and showing off some off their gadgets and generally speculating in whether people will someday wake up and call their bluff. Steve, please tell them to go easier on those leaves they're apparently smoking and stop worrying about whether people will someday stop liking their music. On an entirely different note, here's an observation from last night's partial viewing of "Quest for the Holy Grail" broadcast by BBC. System 7 have actually sampled the quite so showing-off magician Tim where he says "You're looking for the holy grail..." in his gruff voice. Spent all evening wondering where on earth I'd heard that before, but I now think I recall it as being a System 7 track off the 777 album, the one with "A cool dry place" and "The Quest", etc. which is btw a damn good album. Apparently BT and Sasha are in the studios putting together a chill-out album which is very downbeat. Something in the lines of Ima, yes please!! Due next spring sometime. Well, that's me then for this afternoon. Better get some work done and my music pumping on my stereo (damn Supergrass!)
