I make mods myself, and I have yet to find a program that can do really good reverb and what not. It is possible to make these songs on a pc, but not with a mod program. Also, Bola is on Skam, which is a very underground label. Most stores do not even carry cds from Skam. So if they were going to rip someone off to make a quick buck, don't you think they would have gone to a bigger label. And, a different label would have definitely signned them. They are easily WARP material. I do know that some mods do get ripped off, but I'm just trying to defend a group which I think is brilliant. You would do the same if some one said that they had found a mod that sounds exactly like Halcyon. The mod is from 93.. 'Nuff said. For those that don't know, Brendan is quoting "Elephant Talk" by the legendary Adrian Belew of King Crimson. If I ever have a kid, it's name will be Adrian {M or F}. "I'm a lone Rhinoceros... I was merely pointing out that, unfortunately, this can also happen the other way around. >you will know that it is not possible to make this kind of stuff with a >mod program. as I said before, I havn't heard either track, so I'll refuse to comment on that part. having listened to tens of thousands of tracked stuff, I've heard some amazing things which I thought were outside the scope of the programs... >I make mods myself, and I have yet to find a program that can do really good >reverb and what not. I have found out about a lot of amazing music from recommendations on this list, so I thought I would do some recommending myself. I know that many of you would love Bola's work. I know no one was putting down the group, but it sucked to see so much controversy over something that I totally love right now. kevin # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orbital" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orbital@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Orbital discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?orbital ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Aug 2000 21:40:13 +0200 From: deekay@mail.dfu.de Subject: (orbital) OT: The Eagle has landed!... Okay.. I got it: The Genica mp3-CD player.. And i gotta say this thing surely ROCKS! Putting in a mp3-CD and watch it display a total of 130 Songs simply KICKS ASS! I've been waiting for a device like this for 3 years now and finally i hold one in my hands... As for manufacturing, it's averagely built, kinda like your Best Buy $30 Discman deal.. I somehow have the impression that they're rebuilding this thing from existing Discmen or maybe i just got a refurbished one since the downside of mine looks AWFULLY used, there are grease-stains and the "Class 1 Laser Product" stickers are almost unreadable and totally scratched!.. The upper side looks perfectly new though, so it's kinda strange... Handling is also a bit strange, the 'previous' key is labelled 'preview' (not quite a native speaker that designed this thing, eh? >:-) Other than that it's perfect: It loads the directory and sorts the files after their appropriate directories, so if you always sort your files nicely you will love this thing!.. You can also define custom playlists but i have yet to figure this out. It reads ISO-CDRs and CD- RWs, also with joliet extension, anything from 32kbps to 196 (?? prolly 192!) kbps, the files need to be 44.1kHz though, and it doesn't support VBR from what i see! Ofcourse it also plays regular Audio-CDs.. a 50 second Shock-Buffer is also built in which is VERY nice! They sell this thing (hold your breath!) for a mere $99, which is absolutely great!! You can also order a Car-accessory-kit with it for ~$25 that contains a few earbud-headphones (the promised over-the-head type headphones were earbud ones in my order, but who cares for these shitty $2 things anyway? ;-D), a Casette-Adaptor, a AC-Cigarette lighter adaptor, a nice CD wallet for 24 CDs and 10 CDRs also come included! Conclusion: after 20 promised mp3-CD-players (fuck RIO and the likes! Who wants 40 minutes of music? I wanna put in one CD and never change it on an 8-hour drive! 8) from various companies that i never ever heard of again (due to the record industry exerting its power maybe?) it's great to finally see this thing for sale, and it's damn cheap, too! The only *major* thing that i lack is a large display that displays ID3-Tags, but remember this is a Generation 1 device, and for that it's already damn nice! Who knows for how long these things will be for sale (can you say RIAA-lawsuit or RIO? so get yours now from www.compgeeks.com! 8) If you're ordering from abroad, don't make the same mistake as i did: I (Germany) had to pay $40 (!!!) for custom, that's almost a third of the overall costs! So do as i would've done now, save yourself the customs-cost and the expensive compgeeks-overseas- shipping ($24 to germany) and have it sent to a relative or friend in America and let him send it over as a present!.. Mine took almost 5 weeks to get here by the way, so don't be too impatient! ;-D Regards, a delighted DeeKay P.S.: On a sidenote: According to 'The Register' Motorola just went to a 1GHz G4 today finally (after "being stuck" on 500MHz for a whole year due to manufacturing problems!).. What a *great* day this is!! ;-D Byebye x86, can't wait to see this thing fly!... 8)) # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orbital" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orbital@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Orbital discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?orbital ------------------------------ End of orbital-digest V2 #361 *****************************
