Oh boy... What surprises a regular Tuesday night can hold! 8) A friend of mine, who captures Videos as mpeg from MTV just sends me this Orbital Video that i didn't even have a clue existed! 8) The track in question is: Belfast/Wasted... Nono, not the regular Sphere-mapping Belfast-Video as some of the hardcore Orbital freaks might know it, the one with Grant's Lyrics (which i absolutely love so very much! 8) And it's COMPLETELY different, it has stuff like this soccer-Team with Orbital shirts on and Grant's lyrics are sung by a hand-puppet (the puppeteer, an elderly man (asleep on a bar (the Orbital-mom- bar? 8)) bears somehow a strong resemblance to Paul, could it possibly be their father? 8) What's even stranger is that MTV's titling in the beginning says it's from the "Best of Volume EP"... WHAT the fuck is that supposed to be?.... *sigh*.. Steve, i think the next thing to tackle is an Orbital- Videography! (I can hear you screaming from here! ;-D I REALLY wanna know how many vids are out there that i prolly haven't ever seen!.. Still wondering what that ice-skater video was that i saw in my early orbital times!.. Most likely something off In Sides, since that was afair my only Orbital album at the time! 8) Report field-research end, DeeKay # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orbital" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orbital@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Orbital discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?orbital ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Oct 2000 22:04:03 -0400 From: AJ Miyagi Brustein Subject: Re: (orbital) NEW Orbital-Video discovered!... Lazlo? Mick? Steve? Volume was a fabulous series of CDs released in the UK that featured many rare/exclusive tracks plus 192 page, CD-size books with artist interviews and fine examples of British humor. Volume 1 was released in September 1991, and the CDs were released every 3 months or so until at least Volume 17, the 2CD "Fifth Birthday Bonanza". Volume 3 contained the vocal mix of Orbital's "Belfast/Wasted", featuring Grant Fulton on vocals. In 1995, after the first dozen releases, Volume released two "best of" packages, each featuring two CDs and a 192 page book. These were titled "Wasted - Best of Volume Part 1" and "Sharks Patrol These Waters - Best of Volume Part 2". "Wasted" contained the Orbital "Belfast/Wasted" track. A two-track single was released to promote these compilations (calling it an EP is a bit of a stretch). The two tracks were Orbital's "Belfast/Wasted" from "Wasted" and Therapy?'s "Innocent X" from "Sharks". The makers of Volume also created the Trance Europe Express series (at least 5), and later the Trance Atlantic (at least 2) and Trance Pacific (at least 1) series. These were all double CDs with the ubiquitous 192 page book. Not sure how many, if any, are still available. All CDs in these series are highly recommended. Trance Europe Express Volume 1, in particular, included tracks by Orbital ("Semi-Detached"), System 7, Spooky, Black Dog, Cosmic Baby, Aphex Twin, the Orb and Moby... and was released in September, 1993. > Trying to remeber who did "Come Dancing" off that. Orbital were supported by Plaid on the Middle Of Nowhere tour. I brought their 'Trainer' collection of early stuff, but the second CD, though it said Trainer disc 2 on it was actually some drivetime compilation (according to CDDB). I know I've asked this question before, but I'll go at it again... I'm looking for anything from CJ Bolland other than his "DJ Kicks" compilation, and his other album (the one with the AWFUL "sugar is sweeter" on it) disc. Notably, I'm looking for the "4th Sign" album, or the "Electronic Highway" album. I guess what I'm asking for are MP3s, because honestly I don't want to deal with credit card/cheque crap oversees, and I just don't have the money. (new car = no money) Also, has anyone on the list seen Hybrid live? Can you tell me about it, because I may be going to see them here in Boston sometime this month. They're playing with BT (I think!)
