As you know, I agree with this, and after having a second opportunity to watch it when it was aired again, I still agree. I do notice, however, that some others felt that the episode was a bit too 'preachy,' and that Liz and Maria (but especially Liz) have never indicated that they were religious in any way. Another inconsistency would have been Isabel's statement that she always gets involved during the holidays, but she's never indicated that before either. (We may remember her and Max joking about this in 'Into the Woods.') It didn't bother me that much, but what did you think? > -tess & kyle: > ok, now, i never hated tess. i have always liked her, just not with max, > per se. but kyle and her are a trip together. I had problems seeing where Kyle's character was going to go this season, but the unexpected Buddha twist and relationship with Tess is great, and something I certainly didn't foresee. I also liked the way the episode didn't go on about their 'mission,' which was a nice change of pace. I guess I'm just not warming up to the Royalty idea yet. But you're right, the Valenti's and Tess scenes was a well-written subplot. I was beginning to wonder what happened to all the adults, so it was nice to see Amy again. > -michael & Maria - okay, now these two used to be my favorite couple. i > loved the banter and interaction. but for quite a long time, i think > michael hasn't been much more than an abusive jerk, Michael's character has grown in some episodes, only to be thrown back into the pile to be reconstructed from scratch. I'm not sure why they keep doing this. In one episode, you think Michael's finally becoming a part of [human] society, and the next he's back to his old self. And of course, it hurts the relationship with Maria. But she really hasn't been putting up with it, as she's found interest in Brody. (By the way, I noticed him in last week's The Fugitive doing a mediocre American accent. Not bad, though.) > -i liked that michael had wished he could have helped save some > kids. Yes, that is one of those redeeming moments after being a jerk. But some of their healing abilities have also been questioned by some other lists, I notice. I wonder why Max has to be the most powerful? Still, Michael was able to heal Riverdog's twisted or broken ankle in one episode. I guess his powers are still more honed to be for aggressive purposes. > -was it a real ghost. or just max's conscience? i think it was real...... Again, this is another topic that is under question on other lists. Yes, I'm certain it was a real ghost, as Liz's grandmother was a real ghost. How would his own conscience known that Sydney was taken to Phoenix? I suppose he could have found out otherwise, but the episode was supposed to be one of the many "ghost of Christmas" visitation knock-offs. It didn't bother me at all, though. > i cried the whole time practicaly.........especailly when he was healing > those kids, when he saw them as babies and toddlers..... > wonderful episode. Yep, I hope they keep up the sentimentality of the show. I wonder if the next episode will be back to 'dealing with our enemies?' I think some of the cast members had been making appearances sponsored by Levi's, or someone like that, but I'm afraid I have no idea if they're going to be doing anything like that again. It always *seems* like they (the shows in general) make public appearances early on in the series, and/or while the show is still very popular. They still contain plenty of sci-fi stuff, but a much more enjoyable mix of what we've seen in the past two seasons. But as you say, the storylines are very different. There are just some things that the TV show probably couldn't do, such as the group being able to see people's auras and that sort of thing... Why? Because the books suck! I can't get over it! My biggest problem: Max is blond. My second biggest problem: Ulysses F. Olsen (UFO) High School--how cheesebally is that? For crying out loud! And the story itself, despite that it's creative, is just horribly written. An eight-year-old could have written the sentences. Plus, the story, although creative, is way too farfetched. It's just bizarre and totally bogus... My third biggest problem: If Liz is hispanic, why isn't her name Isabel???? Cuz Isabel is so the Spanish version of Liz. Her sister had a Spanish name--why wouldn't Liz? See, little things like this just contribute even more to the overall dumbness. And the whole aura and scent thing--I just can't stand that--it's so hoky. But, anyway, that's just my opinion. If you really like the show, don't read the books; they're just bad. And I know, since I haven't actually read the books, what right to I have to say this? But I've read enough of the books, just a few pages of each, to know that they are so not worth the read for people who like to read well-written, intelligent stories. I don't think the writing is spectacular, and I too have a problem with UFO High (I always wonder why the series is Roswell High when the actual high school isn't). The show, in my own humble opinion, is multitudes better, but I must admit to buying every book and placing them prominently on my bookshelf for all to see (that is, for all to see if anyone could get through the clutter on the floor TO the bookshelf). The books go in a completely different direction from the books, and originally, the script for the pilot was pretty similar. I must say, I'm extremely happy it was changed. No, I have never been to one but I look
forward very much to going in a few weeks.

It's a Metro signing, right? Have you been to any of them before? I
met
James Marsters (twice) and Juliet Landau (Spike and Drusilla,
respectively,
of Buffy) and Eliza Dushku (Faith, of Buffy and more recently, Angel)
there.
The signings are pretty well organized, and it's oh-so-much fun to
look at
the Polaroid's (if you get them) and think, Wow, I was standing right
next
to that person, and I was so freaked out that I couldn't think of
anything
clever or witty to say! Okay, maybe not so much fun...
Erin (who doesn't speak much, so most people are probably
thinking, Who IS
this person?)
