I will be traveling to Boston in March to visit my bf and I want to see if I can finnagle (is that a word?) my way to a stamp store! I will be staying in Worcester at WPI, so if there is one closeby it will have to be within walking distance of WPI. I am flying into Logan so I am sure I might be able to go to one close in Boston. The one in Boston would have to be either close to Logan or easily accessible by the "T", as that will be our only transportation. If you know of stamp stores or other kewl stores in those 2 cities with those restrictions, I would appreciate any information, including directions. Thanks! Baggie (baglady@wolfenet.com) Hidden Creations (byars@ptw.com) -- Laura Hidden Creations carries some of these in stock....and has just placed an order as well for more stock. I have ALL of the native american line series from Arizona STamps and I LOVE THEM!!! yes..the mounts kinda suck.... (have seen better mounts) but they ALSO have the most beautiful images!!!!! For those wolf lovers out there..... Wildlife Enterprises has MUCH better wolf images than AZ STamps!!!! I don't know who has AZ STamps catalogs on hand...I purchased mine directly from the company, but I bought my stamps from Baggie and Laura at Hidden Creations. Sheryl Porter talked to the owner of AZ Stamps (and the artist who created Wolf Woman/Wolf Spirit, and they are SUPPOSE to be selling UNM now, but only on individual (not resale) orders. You can call the company direct to check this out!!! Of course, this would have to happen AFTER I bought them all mounted!!! LOL hope this helps you all!!!! You TTPOers might find her suggestions helpful. Feathers .............................................................................. ......................................... I'm not sure what a "tppo" is -- but there are postal folks that really get nervous about oddities in the mail..... and who can blame them, what with letter bombs ?? So maybe take the suspicion out of your mail art by making sure it doesn't look like it could be a bomb or other device. If it's really a small place, perhaps you might be able to befriend one teller and explain what it is that you are doing. Perhaps sign up to received one of arto's wonderful traveling mail art collections from her bulletin board, and show your post office folk some of the contents, to illustrate that OTHER PO's do indeed, pass this stuff along. You may be able to convert a person or two into actually realizing how interesting mail art can be for all that come in contact with it. If it's going to be muscle to muscle and they are uncooperative, ask your PostOffice for a copy of the Postal Regulations. If they are unwilling to provide, ask them to SHOW you in the regulations where your outgoing mail is prohibited. If they cannot, or won't, perhaps showing them some of the far out stuff you have RECEIVED which is similar to the item you want to send may help. You can always call the Main postoffice for your county/city and lodge a complaint. Whatever you do, be persistent. Im certain that eventually, someone will slap a cancellation on what you're attempting to send, and it will be on it's way. uop ------------------------------ From: "Rebecca L. If you don't want to read about my Christmas present, delete now! Okay, my best friend had been torturing me ever since November that she had "gotten the PERFECT gift for me" and that she knew it was "EXACTLY what I wanted" and that I would love it. Well..every time I saw her she would taunt me with this and not give me any clue what it is, except that it was being specially ordered and would get there in Jan. So, on Jan 5, I was in church just sitting there and my best friend comes up to me and was like "Merry Christmas!", and I couldn't figure out what in the world she was doing. Then, from behind her a ways, just out of my sight, walked my boyfriend! She had flown him in for the week! I couldn't believe it! I was SOOO thrilled! We were right in the middle of church, so we had to leave and hug and reunite. It was soooooo wonderful! Oh, I forgot to mention, on Sat morning this huge bouquet of flowers came for me and the card said "I miss you Love, Paul" so it made me think that he was there. My friend said that the flowers were her idea to make me think that he was there, when he was at her apartment cuz she wanted it to be perfect so she waited until Sun morning. He even called my boss and tried to get some time off for me! He is SOOOO sweet! Isn't that wonderful!?!?!? That was my present, and since I love y'all so much I just HAD to share it with you. :} Stampin'Mowsy ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^ When you go out into the world, ^ ^ remember: being placed on a pedestal ^ ^ is a right, not a privilege. ^ ^ ^ ^ -All I Need To Know About Life ^ ^ I Learned From My Cat ^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ------------------------------ From: mlracer@ix.netcom.com (LAWRENCE JAMES LITTLE) Date: Sat, 1 Feb 1997 11:43:26 -0600 (CST) Subject: Re: another silly name! or 3 You wrote: > >I know some people who's last name is Brush - they named their son Sage! >Poor kid! > > >>When we lived in Memphis TN I met several people whose last name was Turnipseed!!! made me ROTFLMGOTNTPIMP!!! Their main purpose is to condense the number of messages sitting in your inbox and not the actual size. For example, instead of getting 200+ messages from the RS list every afternoon I'd have maybe 10 messages winking at me. They'd contain those 200+ messages but I'd also be able to see the other email sitting in my box without scrolling through those 200+ messages and being Ms. Eagle Eyes (which tends to give me a headache and concentration lines on my forehead). I'm subscribed to digests for the other 5 lists I belong to and it makes thing soooo much easier. If it weren't for digests I wouldn't be able to handle that many lists. It helps you sort your new mail and see the important personal emails to you as well. The only problem with digests is having to cut and paste things you want to save or respond to, but I've gotten used to that. It also helps if everybody remembers to weed the text of the email they are replying to (remove anything that doesn't relate to their response). For those keeping score I think 20-40k digests are the ideal size. LOL Impossible, I was JUST there the other day (in person) and asked about the unmounteds. They said NO. Now if I COULD have bought unmounteds I would be REALLY pissed. The only thing though is most of their images are quite large and I tend to prefer large images mounted. Thanks for the info though that baggie sells them at a discount, I will definetly go to her because there are quite a few I would LOVE to buy. valobra DaMadStamper ------------------------------ From: JimStamper@aol.com Date: Sat, 1 Feb 1997 13:15:53 -0500 (EST) Subject: no more passes available I only had 5 they went fast. Use the kind that you slip the card into a plastic sleeve, not the old "magnetic" photo album - that type album will destroy the cards eventually. I've even heard of using a Rollerdex for a display album. (takes up less space) I spoke with a store owner once who had trouble with her samples "disapearing". Someone liked them so much they slipped them out of the basket she had them in, and took them home. If they are kept in an album, they won't get taken, bent, faded or dirty. If she wants, she could always put the card maker's name on a sticker next to the card. I think most people would be quite flattered to have their cards on display in a stamp shop. Oh, and one other suggestion, if the card to be displayed has an especially neat inside, she could carefully slice it apart and display both sides in the album.
