You need some see through paper and you put your tissue in the corner of the positioner and stamp your stamp on it. Then you position the tissue where you'd like to have the stamp go and put the positioner back on the same corner and take away the tissue and stamp and viola! I love them for getting a stamp exactly where you want them. And you can re-use the tissue of course for the next time you need that stamp. I put different stamps in different corners as well to make the tissues go further. Stampo ------------------------------ From: "Wayne Gartley" Date: Sun, 2 Feb 97 05:00:27 UT Subject: RE: TAN: Check Authorization Services-Warning (long) Well, here's the other side of the nightmare. We were offered this service with our credit card company so it sounded like a good idea since we take so many checks at conventions and frequently have them returned NSF to us and have to pay the bank a fee for the privilege. We had to pay $190 for a scanner to run the checks through and 22 cents a check and then we'd be either given an approval number or the word REFERRAL would come up. If we got REFERRAL, we were supposed to refuse the check and give this slip of paper to the person to call this number to clear up their account. Now if we ran a check through and got an approval number, it could still bounce but then the person would have to make good the check plus a fee of $25 to them before they could write a check anywhere else where the scanning system is used. If the person paid up, we got the money but were still out the fee the bank charged us. They had it set up so that all our NSF checks went to them automatically so we had NO control of the system. If a check for $4 for a catalog bounced, they were after them for $29. If a check from someone I knew bounced, it went to the company for collection anyway. I finally decided this was a totally ridiculous situation as they were collecting very few checks anyway! We were doing better at collecting NSF checks when we were on our own and could generally get the bank fee as well and didn't have angry customers. So starting in September, we tried to get out of it and it just seemed impossible. We phoned, we faxed, we mailed letters and they kept right on. We stopped running any checks through the scanner so they were no longer getting their 22 cents a check. We asked the bank to stop sending our checks to them. Nothing worked. During this time, I wrote a personal check to Viva Las Vegastamps! and it bounced and I got the letter saying I wouldn't be able to cash a check anywhere or open another checking account, blah, blah, blah. Just Thursday, we FINALLY got our NSF checks back from them and are out of the system supposedly but I wonder if they've removed any negative statements from people's credit records... mine included? Somehow I doubt it. In many cases, when we got a REFERRAL, it was a mailed in check and we'd call the person and they'd say they had a problem with a bank five or six years ago and this just keeps coming up over and over and they can't get it off their record... we'd put the check through and it would be fine. It's just about as maddening as trying to deal with the sales tax departments in other states... they can't get it through their heads that we were there for one day two years ago and paid our state sales tax due and do not have employees in their state and do not do business in their state and therefore do not owe them anything! It's basically a sandwich! You will need a sharp exacto knife to cut the foamboard smoothly. If you aren't sure about the blade, change it. It's important that it be sharp. Lets say we are using a jar for our image. You would need an image that has some type of opening you can cut out. Stamp the jar on paper. Color decorate, whatever you would do to the card. Cut out the opening in the jar. If it has a design you would like to retain in the finished product in the opening, stamp another for the back piece and it will show through. After cutting out the opening in the jar, place it over the piece of foamboard and trace the opening on to the foamboard. Cut out opening in foamboard. The opening needs to be a bit larger than the tracing, that way any edges will not show when you place the card on top. Attach a piece of acetate to one side of the foamboard covering the opening. Put in your filler, confetti, candy, etc. Then place another piece of acetate on the other side. Tape both acetates down well so that the filler doesn't sneak out. I use double stick tape, or Miracle Tape. Now attach your front and back cards to the foamboard. You are done! If you have rough edges on the foamboard, before assembling you can wrap ribbon around them. Or, my favorite, use drafting tape. Its a plastic like tape available in Office Max, or other office supply stores that comes in about 1/2" widths and various colors. Acetate is a clear product, available in office supply stores. If you cannot find it, sheet protectors are made from a thinner acetate and they will work fine. Just cut them up to size. Foamboard is available also at office supply stores. Hope this is clear...if not, please ask any questions you like!
