I don't know about you, but in my michael's ad they are selling Envirotex Lite for 1/2 price. Is this the stuff that is good for pin making? I think my local rubber stamp store is holding a class on it later this month. Or does everyone prefer something else? I have six sheets of shrink plastic and want to figure out how to make pins in time for the april convention in Cleveland! And what should I make pins out of, I don't have all that many stamps yet. Do people make pins out of word stamps? I got a bunch from VLVS. And another question. Does anyone else have a store called Pat Catan's? IT is a craft store like Michael's, maybe not as big, and everything is 40% every day off except red tagged items which are supposed to be below that. This store makes Michael's look SO expensive. They have a okay selection of stamps and accessories and even some paper. I guess I am just lucky, there is one down the street from my house! As a newspaper employee who's going to spend 8-9 hours this evening inserting advertisements i'll attest it's nigh impossible to "forget" an insert. The advertisers pay to have the inserts placed in either "everything but out-of-county" or in specified sections of the "runs". Inserted adverts can be required or excluded for: subscribers only, news-stands & stores only, or by geographic locations. If the insert is "always" in subscriber copies and "never" in news-stand copies, or vice versa, it's because that's the way the advertiser paid to have it done. (don't ask, I don't remember the specifics) But the only way we could talk to each other was to use the computers that were set up all over the place. No one was talking to each other other than electronically. People were sitting at their keyboards typing madly away, laughing, or crying or just reading intently, some were walking about silently. And not a rubber stamp in sight. Anybody care to interpret? Companies like Fiskars, Uchida, and most others give a great big wholesale discount to distributors who use that much stock. All Micheal's are corprately woned, so they purchase in huge lots. They get a massive discount. Lets take the the LePlume Markers, for example. They sell them in the stores for $15.00 all the time. Most regular wholesalers will buy those from Marvey for $11.85-$12.50. So, if M was buying them at that price, they couldn't make any money. M buys those for $8.00 or under and still marks them up almost double. Just depends on the volume of biz you do. My personal favorites are the Flower Fairies stamps by Cicely Mary Barker. Ooooh, I want them all! My other favorite is this huge stamp that says, "To Build a Lasting Love" then goes on to list a bunch of suggestions (all in calligraphy) such as, "Find one new interest to share for each year you're together", "Always listen to and respect each other's opinions, especially when they differ", "Know that there is no greater reward for loving, than to grow old enjoying the life you've created together" and a whole lot more. I found it inspiring. I don't think you'll be disappointed! If you'd like a catalog, please let me know right away as I'm trying to get an order for them out. Thanks! PS for those who recently ordered them...I didn't know that new catalogs were coming out! I'm willing to negotiate with you if you want a new one. PPS for anyone who might want an old catalog. Unfortunately, the establishment can sometimes be a shopping mall in which these spaces may or may not be allocated per storefront. Also, commercial buildings constructed after a certain date must have curbcuts, and wheelchair accessable entries and bathrooms. Civic buildings must be retrofitted. OSHA is also very prominent in this arena of protecting the rights of all potential employees which frequently is beneficial to non-employees. The Constitution states that no person shall be given special privelges over another, that we are all the same. >> Well, there is Federal legislation called the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-336). The ADA provides civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities similar to those provided to individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age and religion. It guarantees equal opportunity for individuals with disabilities in public accommodations, employment, transportation, state and local government services, and telecommunications. So, any projects that receive federal funding, such as roads or schools must be in compliance with these laws. I suspect that there are many states that have adopted laws along the same lines. As for private parking, such as a mall, it just seems to make good business sense to attract as many customers as possible. Don't forget that a disability affects a whole family: if one member of a family can't be acommodated, the rest of the family is more likely to go and spend their money elsewhere. It is greatly appreciated! I needed those indexing sheets so that I could finish mounting a stamp that I promised to someone before Christmas, and I can't *wait* to play around with the wild fiber! I was amazed that it only took a few days to get to me- Wow! Thanks again! I got the stamp, and only afterwards did it occur to me that the dress is probably a Christening dress. But I'm still planning on using it for my Jewish friends who have girls. Congrats on your VSN (?) cover (though I don't subsucribe, so I didn't see it.)
