Last night when I got home there were 2 cards in the mailbox plus one large package. I could hardly wait to get into the house to open my cards and package. I opened the first which was from Lori Nelson. The enveloped had a stamp on it stating I had been Rak'd and someone was thinking of me. I love this stamp Lori not to mention the scalloped victorian envelope and your very pretty card. The card inside was 1/2 folded with a die cut snowman glued onto pretty blue paper which had been cut with decorative scissors and had white snowflakes embossed on it. This was glued onto the card and inside was a silver embossed saying "Let it Snow." Thanks. Your card is beautiful and I will certainly like to try to make one almost like it, though not quite as pretty as yours. The second card was from Christine Cox. Her card came in a handmade envelope. Christine I did my best to open this card without tearing the envelope. I will use it as my envelope template. This card was also very pretty. It is 1/2 folded with dark green leaves stamped onto green paper. Then another layer of gold embossed leaves cut on green cardstock and glued onto black cardstock with gold trimming and this was glued on the card itself. Inside was a very nice handwritten note telling me I had been raked and welcoming me to the list. Christine also wished me luck in my upcoming surgery next week. Thanks for the lovely card and I can certainly use all the good luck I can get. You are all so talented. Next was a large package from my adopted Mom - Andrea. Thanks Mom!!! I just love this package. There was so much in it. Inside was a Stoneware Textured Stamp by D. O. T. S. This is great I will certainly put it to many uses. There was also an unmounted stamps of a high heel shoe with a rose in it. Wow this is so neat. I can't wait to stamp with it. I got 6 large silver heart stickers and 2 white heart stickers. There was a Stampers Sampler magazine. I will be reading this magazine next week cover to cover while I am recuperating. Mom also enclosed different colors of blank cards. They are as follows: white shiny 1/2 folded cards, white and brown blank cards. Also included were duplex cardstock which has a different color on each side. I also liked the petal paper and vellum paper. I now know what vellum paper is thanks to my Mom. These will certainly help me get started on making many cards. Momma also, sent me samples of 7 beautiful cards she made plus one bookmarker. You are very talented Mom. I hope I grow up to be just like you. Cards are as follows One card has Christmas presents attached with double sided foam used to pop up the present. This was on burgundy cardstock with Merry Christmas embossed in gold around the card. The second card had a little girl stamped cutout attached to green corrugated card with a plaid bow glued on the little girls hair. There was a saying stamped on which had been cut with squiggle edge scissors. "The saying was "May the love and light of Christ our Lord fill your heart and home." The third card has two girls stamped on white cardstock and cut out and glued onto layered mulberry paper and blue cardstock. Now I know what mulberry paper is. Thanks Mom. The fourth card has a little girl hold a teddy bear. She is colored with chalk. The paper is corner punched with teddy bears. The fifth card is stamped with a House Mouse Stamp on white cardstock and colored in using chalks. The sixth card is stamp colored with Marvy LePlume markers onto shiny white cardstock. The stamp is of flowers and leaves. The seventh card is done on waxed paper background. It is a baby bib cutout on beige cardstock and glued onto the burgundy waxed paper background. There is a wagon with a puppy in it stamped onto the bib. The last item is a bookmark stamped with gold embossed birdhouses and colored with Marvy markers onto white cardstock. The bookmark has a hole punch and purple raffia tied to it. I am just thrilled with this huge package and all the samples of cards that can be done. All cards had a description of what they were colored and stamped with, plus the cardstocks and papers were also labeled with their descriptions. I now know what the list is talking about thanks to my Mom. You are a great teacher for me and I am so happy you are my Mom. Thanks so much for this gift. Again, I want to thank everyone whom I received a package from yesterday. I hope this wasn't too long for all to read. This list has such great friends. Thanks for making a newbie like me feel welcomed. I got these in the mail today--great swap! Kim Albert embossed a pair of cherubs (painting a heart) in gold on light pink paper, then cut around this and layered it over a white heart-shaped doily and onto a red card. She glued a large (maybe 2" long?) gold bow charm at the top and edged the corners. Inside she embossed "Happy Valentine's Day" in gold. Very pretty. Sara/StamPerson stamped and embossed a heart and a floral basket on a white notecard then colored these in with markers. Very lovely bold colors. Also the bottom of the front flap is edged. (I hoped that makes sense!) Great card for spring as well as Valentine's! Rebecca Hood-Adams' card is a bit unorthodox and very hysterical. Her card is kind of shaped like a spool--it's probably 5"x7", pinkish red cardstoic,. She stamped a border of hearts, then in the center two Victorian women planet gazing. Above (and below) the caption reads "Psst...have you heard? It's VD!" She tied on a raffia bow and added a heart punch at the bottom. Clever! Jennifer Hanes" embossed and glittered a large "Love" stamp, with flowers around the letters, and colored this in (very detailed!)on scallop edged light cardstock, then layered it onto a deep red. She collaged it with a piece of a gold doily over stampings of hearts (great idea! I don't think I've ever really collaged over the stamping this way before) and a shiny red heart sticker, all on a pale pink card. Brenda Volpe embossed cherubs, hearts, and roses in bronze on white, then cut them out and layered them, along with a white heart doily and a silver bow, on a pink notecard. Really elegant card. Now, Bonnie Lass, our wonderful hostess, fretted the other night about her cards not being so good. Don't believe her! At the center of the card is a little "Love" quilt embossed in gold, with the letters colored in red. This is layered over a heart that is decorated with red and gold metallic paint/ink somehow (I suspect this is some technique I'm not up on), then over a strip of paper lace. Beneath this is a deep red cardstock and then the white card. Also, at the bottom of the aforementioned heart is a teeny tiny gold heart charm and she embossed "For you with love" in gold at the bottom (over several layers--very pretty!) And inside she included some of the little charms--Wow! Thanks, Bonnie, for a great card and a great swap! They will also, most likely, be the guys in town who sell CandyMelts...the Chocolate Wafers that you melt down to form just about anything you want (with molds). Get NON TOXIC PASTE food colorings and Rice Paper. Sometimes, they even have small booklets to tell you how you do want it is you want to do with it (the Rice Paper). Oh, don't forget to get the GEL PIPING...in Clear. That's the stuff you mix the NonToxic Colors into, then you Paint with it. Hope this helps a little more in your quest!! >> My quest... aaahhhh ... my *real* quest is for Debi-Ellen to just send me some cake!! My friend, Linda sent me a card a week ago and I haven't posted until now. I haven't felt well and she just sent the most warm fuzzy card! AND, I got a picture, too! Now, I know the face that goes with the name. The envy has stamped all over it "flattened hug contained within" I love that stamp, who is by? Pleeease tell me! The card is adorable! I don't know how she knows I love teddies. The card is light blue, white cs layered and both have fancy corners. It says "to my friend" A teddy bear holding a bouquet of flowers and colored in brightly. The inside has "a hug a day keeps the grumpies away" I have that stamp! Then there's hugs, hugs, hugs everywhere! Linda is wearing a kitty cat shirt/sweatshirt in her picture. Well, now isn't that fitting? LOL! Gosh, I hope I have the right addy for you! I got a card from Wen thanking me for remembering her at Christmas! I would never forget you! You were one of the very first people who ordered from me when I was new AND one of the first I chatted with. We go way back! Guess what? I ordered that background stamp from Judikins today. Yippeee! The card is kewl! It's simple, but the affects are great! Wen used the stone wall by Judikins and stamped it in turquoise, purple and blue onto glossy CS, then used I think it's a Stampscapes, bridge in black. The inside says "life is but a fleeting sigh with memories accumulated of days gone by. They bring to mind a glorious sight. An old covered bridge on a moonlit night." When Kira read this, it reminded her, as it did me, this old bridge in Eagle Point, where we use to live before living here. It looks a lot like it. :) And it was really cool at night when the moon lit everything up. The sentiment reminds me of my mother. :) Thanks bunches! You are a sweetie! Hugs!
