PPA is an adhesive as well as a finish and a medium. When applied to the top surface this thin coating will provide a water resistant surface and a UV resistant protection for your artwork. You can mix this with your acrylic paints, water colors and even latex. Add dry pigment (Pearl-Ex) PPA is great for book making...even if left over night it does not completely dry out, it retains all of the archival qualities of the original thinner PPA...but it is now the perfect adhesive for book bindings. Thicker PPA is also good for attaching wood, metal, plastic and glass to most any surface. It is not suppose to ripple Vellum and does not leave a mark. PPA is heat resistant. You can use PPA to coat paper that you were not able to stamp on because of the surface and it will be stampable. PPA is a good sizing for papermaking. So here are a few of the things you may have purchased PPA for. Hope this helps ...Diana >>This weekend I purchased Perfect Paper Adhesive or something similar to >that name because I saw it demoed at the Grapevine Convention. Another is called ox gall. Used with water color ( both) Sorry I just got up five minutes ago.---Probably most acrylic mediums would work also. The whole concept is to bind dry pigment with something more than water. Anyway I went to a art supply store and the clerk was kind enough to turn me into a gum arabic used by printers, and it was a quart or so for the same price as the artsy teeny bottles so if one wanted to shop around, you can probably find it even cheaper than I did. Earlier correspondence mentioned finding it in powder form, which I'd neverheard of before, so its probably worth investigating. a i-sis (Sally Kennedy) This message was from IsisStamps@webtv.net (Sally Kennedy) -- >> Now, that I have read more posts about the gum arabic in LIQUID form, I believe the stuff I was sending everyone after--at CakeDecorating Shops---is NOT what you want. The Powder stuff is used to make Royal Icing. You mix it with sugar and stuff, and with the icing you make the Roses, Leaves, whatever you want that harden overnight. These can then be placed, by hand, on a cake wherever you want them. If you pop one into your mouth, it begins to melt immediately, and there is NO grease (butter or shortening) involved. It IS a hardener, but maybe not the one y'all are looking for. Hope this bit of Clarification helps. Carole Mork: used a cream cs and computer saying of...Wouldn't it be great if we could be like an old pair of boots...the worse we look the better we feel!" My mom loved that ! She stamped two boots and layered them on cream speckled paper. Mom ordered 6! 2.Thea Boschman: stamped a gold art deco looking cactus/ sun/desert scene on black scratch board. She scratched the sun...neat. This is layered on an off center cream, a squared sage and on a dark green cs. She also tird a raffia bow in the corner. Very showy card! Thea, What company is the Cactus scene? 3. Tonya Trilling [sp?]:did a very colorful blues/pink backgraound with maybe the compressed sponges? She embossed a large Indian Chief in full headress in silver and mounted this on silver cs. Unusual and Kewl! 4.Sara Humphrey Knight: Used peach cs and did a wonderful desert scene! I am not good at these so I love looking at someone else's. She used a desert border inside and a lizard above her name...pink no less! Wow! 5. Melissa David: dis a dark green Large cs layered with silver. She made a Ultra Embossed tile [Is this the new black?] where she stamped a gold Indian Chief, that is layered on silver on sage cs that has a band with black feathers and surrounded by dreamcatchers! She lightly accented with swirls of metallic gold. My mom liked this sooooo much that I am framing it for her birthday, she is an art collector so this IS a compliment! 5. Unknown: used a tan cs stamped with boots layered with yellow corrigated. there are two boots on top and raffia tied in the crease. 6. Marcia,,,the hostess did a wonderful cream cs layered with tan and blue speckled. Her Cat howling at the moon is too kewl! She did this on foam to lok like leather. A raffia bow finishes it. It's quite large and looks like an old fashioned rotary phone. This is designed so that you can lift the receiver and if you've included a sound module, it will ring!! How fun! (M629) $11.03 --all prices include 25% discount. Sound Modules (make sure you get enough to make several cards!): Ringing Phone Sound (S904) $3; Happy Birthday (S908) $2.10; Somewhere My Love (S907) $2.10 Phone Cords: These are not necessary to the stamp--but they look pretty snazzy! They are tiny bright colored curly cords. Bag of 12, each cord makes 2-3 cards. $4.43 Fun-O-Meter: This is my absolutely favorite MOMR stamp! Attach an arrow [make your own, or MOMR has a good one--just the right size (B687) $3.08] with one of those turning button things and you have a spinning wheel! Here's some of the things on the wheel: Tickles the funny bone; Daddy takes your T-Bird away; Mildly amusing; Barrel of monkeys! (This always makes me grin!) (K662) $7.65 Open Box: This stamp has a dimensional "pocket" that will hold a variety of small objects. I haven't seen a Pocket Card--but this sounds really neat to me! **Candle: This is one great birthday candle! It's about 2 inches long and I can imagine it filling up a page or stacked or on top of a large BD cake! (C623) $3.68 **Dali Time: A very surreal clock (F118) $5.03 **Rock and Roll: a sign that looks like it's from the '50's. (F149) $5.03 **Ultra Star: a great addition to the Rock and Roll sign. Would help make a good background. (B685) $3.08 **Starlite Drive-In Sign: This drive-in sign even has a marquee for you to put your own message! (G284) $5.78 **Jellybean: makes me hungry just looking at it. nicely shaded. (A292) $2.55 Anyway, there's some ideas for you to percolate! Please have your orders emailed to me by Monday. I got my second order of rubber today from Betty Goetz of Haika rubber and am thrilled as always. I got some of her tribal images (which are gorgeous!!) and she sent along one of her wonderful cards which was made with the images I purchased! This one is a beautiful collage card which I won't describe but if you've ever seen one of Betty's cards, you'll know what a treat this is to get *along* with a great rubber order in your mailbox! Her service is always great--she lets me know when she gets my check and even when she puts things in the mail. She even answers my questions about how she made her cards! Some of her sheets of images can be viewed at: and her email address is No affiliation or anything, I just love her stuff and am a happy customer! I've never been for the death penalty, but not for the usual reasons. #1) The way our system works it costs us more as taxpayers to execute someone than it does to keep them in prison for life. (Adding up the cost of appeals, lawyers, etc.) #2) The system is prejudicial. Read the book "99 men and 2 women" and you will get the idea. If a group of people all commit the same crime under the same circumstances, A white femal will be the least likely to recieve a death penalty than a white male. A black or hispanic male will be more likely than a white male. This is a proven fact throughout history. #3) And probably the most important reason...I cannot support capital punishment as I am unwilling to push the button/pull the trigger/pull the lever that causes that person to die. Just like I cannot support nuclear energy as I am unwilling to store radioactive waste in my basement. Just seems hypocritical to me. And that's MY opinion!! :) StampaDeeDoDah (Dee) This message was from Scoupe95@aol.com - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
