Anyway...I'll definately be there. And, and here's the good part...I plan to host a dinner on Saturday evening. I plan to make a ton of salad and pasta and invite any list members (and their travel companions) to come join me. I'll ask for a nominal fee (about $5.00 per person) to help defray some of the cost. Last year we had a small pizza party. This year I hope to have a HUGE pasta party! If you are interested, please let me know so I can gauge how many gallons of pasta sauce to make! (For those who don't know, I live about 20 miles east of where the convention is - I'm sure car pooling would be an option.) Oh, and of course, there'll be chocolate cake for dessert! We love your Olympic Coverage in Washington State Don't get me started!!!! I tuned in to watch the opening ceremonies Friday night. First we had to deal with audio problems on an interview with a couple who supposedly had something worth hearing to say. We went back to them later after they got the audio fixed so we could find out such "must know" info like...they got there tickets in the mail, are staying at his uncle's house, and walked 2.5 kilometers to the stadium! Sure glad I didn't miss that! Then our commentators talked all through the Bell ringing ceremony, the log raising ceremony, etc., etc. THEN...They talked throught most of the 1st half of Ode To Joy and during the second half showed almost NOTHING but commercials and an interview with Michelle Kwan on how it felt to be missing the opening ceremonies!!!They could have asked me and I would have been glad to tell them how it felt!! I didn't even know there were dancers acting out olympic sports on stage until the next day when someone mentioned it in a recap!! SERIOUSLY, if anyone has a tape of the ceremonies from any NON-CBS Station, I would love to see it. I'd be happy to pay shipping both ways. Let me know! I've ranted long enough. Here's a recipe that I tried after cleaning up my kids room. Tear up play money and add it to the pulp in the blender. Barely blend it... just turn on & off the blender (maybe 5-10 seconds)... you want to be able to see bits of the money. This looks great with a very pale shade of green/gray pulp. My job is to have each of these people remembered through out the year for their birthdays and other holidays. (most of them do not have any family) I started out as a volunteer 4 years ago doing the Christmas project. The project included getting presents for the clients so they too could have a Christmas. This year is the first year we are trying to make it possible for them to be remembered all through the year. I am writing to you to ask if your members would be interested in donating a card here and there for them. Birthdays are my big focus right now, but gladly accept any cards through out the year. Any type of card is great, just to give you an idea about the clients the biggest christmas item, what most of them want is a stuffed animal. So something we would consider a kids card would be great for them. Adult cards too. There are over 600 people I help and from all ranges of life. Now that I've overwelmed you with the numbers. Here's what I'm asking. If the next time you sit down to make cards you could make a second card and send this would be great. My address is Robin Cordell, 738 5th Ave North, Kent, WA 98032. If you have any questions my e-mail address is robin.cordell@mci2000.com. Also, if any one knows of another elderly person that could be helped by my project please don't hesitate to submit thier name and address. I'd like to thank you in advance for your consideration. I didn't see the mail I put up over the weekend on this topic and wanted to be sure to thank Christine. Sorry if this is a repeat. Christine, thanks so much for the RAK! You sent a nice card and a name stamp (with *my* name! now I won't have to check my license in the early morning before the second coffee)! And most especially, thank you for the kind thought. - --Chris McEwen reply to: Socrates Press socrates@sprintmail.com This message was from "Chris McEwen" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. I am 39 yrs. old. Divorced for 19 yrs. from my 2nd husband. Still looking but kind of getting set in my ways if ya know what I mean. I have 2 boys. They live with their father in Wis. Well, I guess they are addults by now. Robert is 21 and Michael is 19. The judge offered to let me keep them if I'd sleep with him but I decided to pass. Never go to court w/o a layer. But, I really didn't expect him to fight it. That's what you get when your young and gullible. On the brighter side, I did get to travel allot and make up for lost youth. I lived in Houstin, Tx., Milwaukee,Wi., Denver,Co., Bolder,Co., Scottsdale,Az,Cincinatti,Oh., the Bronx,NY, Eugene,Or. and Bloomington,In. before settling in Indianapolis,In. Well, for now anyway. I'd like something a bit warmer, myself personally. But, it is getting so expensive to move. I own stuff now. After my father died a few years ago I bought furniture with some money he left me, so I don't travel as light as I used to. I had a radical hysterectomy 2 years ago on Dec.26. It was all a big scare and had to go to all kinds of specialists for cancer tests and such. They said it was real border line. My roomate reminds me of these things occasionally because I am memory impaired about alot of it. Thankfully, I had insurance at the time. I don't now but am supposed to be tested every 6mo. or so. It isn't in the budget and no ins. I am still trying to pay those bills so I've rather boycotted Dr.s for now until I get caught up. I have artheritis and carpal tunnel so I don't do all the crafts that I used to, but my interests are:cross stitch, tole painting, crochet, ribbon embroidery, mid eastern belly dance, rubber stamping(of course), and I have a bunch of craft supplys that I havent even touched yet. And the pile keeps growing. I used to bartend in neighborhood bars when I was a pup. That gets old real fast, expesially when youve been in a few fightsand had your jaw dislocated. I also have about 22 yrs. waitressing exp., but that is getting pretty rough so I am trying to find a new field. Right now I work at Pizza Hut and Michaels. I love my job at Michael's but am only getting 26 hrs. since the hollidays are over. So I am still looking for something else. Stock work is fun but wreaks havock with my hands. Sometimes it hurts just to touch things. About 15yrs ago I became a born again Christian and spent alot of time studying the Bible. I have allot to be thankful for. Even though I am not associated with that group any longer I still beleave and think my association made me richer as have all the experiences in my life. I have a wonderful roomate, Carole, who has stuck by me these last 4 yrs. through my surgery and all. And her daughter Aimee`.4 cats- Mitzar,a three yearold neurotic tabby. Lumpy, a2yr old orange tabby. He's a good mouser and would like to RAK everyone but I said no. Lilith,a 11/2 yr old calico with a hair lip and she lithps when she hisses. Not very scary, if you ask me.LOL And last but not least- Herculese the Terrorist, almost 1. I found him outside and brought him home. He had apparently been left by someone who moved and crawled into a car engine and got all cut up. He was half dead when I found him. We named him Herculese to give him a good strong name for him to live up to. After a trip to the vet to get all stitched up he healed quickly and began a reign of terror on the other cats and human alike. I was thinking the other day about the things I thought I'd be when I grew up and here's my list: a singer and dancer, famous artist, wife, mother, live happily ever after. Ooooops. I guess we all take different paths and who knows what we'd be like if we got all those somedays. As for me I am content:) I hope you have enjoyed my story and we will continue to build great friendships................
