My husbands name is Daniel and is the best companion for me, we met in high scool and we have realized over the years we've been together (About 11 years) that we are soul mates, Daniel and I are so close that we can finish each others sentences. I am a writer, have been since I was about 16 where I wrote my first poem in honors English class and won first place in a school wide contest. Ever since then I knew what my click was and have been doing it ever since. I write horror and poetry. My fav horror writer is Stephen King, even named by bird (2 yr old Cockatiel) after him and used to have a dog named Rose Madder LOL, But my dh doesn't like big dogs and I had to give her away =(. I homeschool my children along with my husband, my husband does the mathematics, history and geography, and I do all the rest. My boys are not deprived of socialization, they get plenty of time for socializing after the kids get out of school and they go out to play. They are very smart and advanced, Marc 6 is and at a 2nd grade level and Lance is 3 and at a Kindergarten level. I am very proud of them. I was born a military brat, father was in the Air Force, and have lived all over, my happiest memories as a child was living in Italy. I am also married to a military man, (Army) We live in Hawaii right now but are getting ready for a move to Va in March. I started stamping in Dec. My best friend/next door neighbor (SOUTH77) got me into it and now I'm totally addicted, and now so is my hubby. I love this craft. Well I've bored you enough time to sign this thing. It's a cat with hearts all over it's body stamped in black on a cream cardstock with a very fine glitter sprinkled over it. It is layered on a red heart-shaped dollie. This is attached to red card stock that had the front flap folded back to make half of the heart hang over. There are little white hearts stamped in the 4 corners that she trimmed with a corner rounder. On the inside is a cat hanging onto a heart shaped balloone with a mouse on top. My name is in the middle. This is a cute card. Now I owe you one Barbara. I will get one sent to you soon. I haven't had much stamping time yet this year but I hope to make some time soon so we can keep the monthly exchange going. I'm glad to hear you are not being flooded. I hope it stays that way for you. I'll try to send some sun your way as soon as I can. We have had a very mild winter. In fact I don't think you could call it winter. It's been a very long autumn with a few snowy days(no accumulation). It's been great. I just wish winter was treating others as well. Those of us in Central Illinois really like El Nino. It's been over a week since I've posted what I've rec'd from this prolific group! Here are the latest: Cyndi Thayer--Evo's big cat faces heart on vellum, layered over wallpaper (cool idea!) then attached to plum card with gold midori ribbon! Linda Lloyd--Tasty yo-yo cat valentine with candy hearts attached to tummy. Cat is stamped on heart doily, then layered on red c.s. with cute conversation heart stickers around it. Heather Reilly--Another Kliban cat--the exercising one--with the aerobics outfit and "tail-warmer" done in glitter--great idea! I just made up a card with this stamp--but totally different. Isn't it fun how we come up with so many different uses for the same stamps? RubberClaws--Another version of Evo's big cat faces heart stamp! Embossed in gold, layered over square doily corner, then onto red c.s. Embellished with gold mylar stringies! Very attractive! Karen Byrd--Three sitting Laurel Burch cats, stamped and colored in on white, decoratively cut out and layered on aqua corrugated, then onto white card. Nice! Tina Verhulst--Tabby cat stamped on Shrink Plastic, cut out, layered onto orange/white (origami??) paper square, then on to peach card with decoratively cut corners. Makes me want to get right back and play with my shrinky!! Maxine--Puppy Love? Kitty Love?? Postcard. I really envy people who can hand letter and make it look good!! Kari Mattocks--Hero Arts cat outlines on white, layered on kraft corrugated, then onto black glossy, then on to white glossy which has been stamped all over with Hero's MEOW stamp, then attached to black glossy card! Nice looking card (and I have those stamps!) Janie--cat face stamped on red velvet with the edges frayed. Layered on valentine tissue, then on white card, then onto red cardstock with small hearts stamped around edge. Inside, cat asking bird in cage to "be mine"!! Clever! Barb Meadows--Big Tabby cat with bushy tail, walking thru grass watching a butterfly! I may need to get that stamp! Jessica--PC with Kliban cat walking the dog and quote about not having a stamping problem! LOL! Dusty--This was hard to figure out--couldn't believe this was a CCCC! It was a cat stamped under glass--like a little picture in a frame. I went out and had some glass cut, bought some copper tape and tried it--alas--I need work on applying the copper tape!! Lovely! Fran--PC of Big Magenta mom cat and kitten--done in deep purple. Nice effect!! Pam MacVittie--Evo's cat faces heart again! Cut out and layered on 3D illusion plastic, then onto some kind of light blue shimmery paper (?) then onto cream colored card. Love that 3D stuff! Kathleen McCaffrey--Blue bookmark with cat images and punched out shapes. Very handy as I never have a bookmark when I need one! Also some collage goodies fell out of the envy!! Lisa Mallette--Marvelous Laurel Burch Flying Felines card--great coloring job, layered over pink tissue, then attached to card with card edges covered with purple glitter! Also--hysterical letter (including pics!) from her cats!! Too funny. Had me ROFLPIMP!! Gerrie Eder--Beautiful Valentine card using white ribbed cardstock lined with red paper. Scribble heart and cat on front with a few confetti hearts scattered around. Front edge is deckled and cut shorter than back half of card so you can see the inside edge where she has punched cat shapes and filled with glitter and added confetti hearts in correct spots! Toni--Orange yo-yo cat with tan yo-yo on tummy with a turquoise fish button on top of yo-yo! Layered on plaid paper, then on to card with scalloped bottom edges. Love the sentiment, too! Kate Hill--Matchbook with gray tabby on cover and tiny purple bow! Nice for keeping short notes! WOW! I think that's *all*! I DID get cards out to everyone of these people today!! Whew! Well...a computer gremlin MUST have stolen the website info I swear I put in my post re: my rubber sheets (either that or I'm spacier than I thought...don't answer that ). Anyway....here's where to go to see my stuff: http://shell.rmi.net/~elaine/bgnidx.htm As a preview....I convert my handcarved images to rubber and love doing ethnic and ancient art. I have sheets of Mexican, African, and some Art Nouveau as well as Siberian Husky images. I also have 3 sheets of (non-carved) text only....mostly phrases/quotes I haven't been able to find elsewhere. Since I love embossing, rainbow pad stamping etc. my words as well as my images, I like having words/text in rubber rather than relying on my computer to print out text . I am 33 years old, live in Concord CA which is the "Bay Area" of CA. And I do not EVEN want to talk about El Nino! I have been stamping on and off for about 3 years, but hard and heavy for about 1 year. I am one of the lucky ones, my DH George also loves to stamp! And I can proudly say I am the one who hooked him onto the smell of the rubber!! He is a dream come true! Builds me new cabinets when I run out of space, mounts all my UM's, and sometimes spends more time in the "rubber" room than I!! We will have our first wedding aniv. on July 5. He truly is the love of my life! We have no children and our working on it but due to some serious helath problems I had in the past, (I still have SOME major body organs left! LOL!!) we are not sure we will be able to have children. We also our in a very busy time of our new lifes...We just bought a house and move in to is in about a month and a half! The best part is the built in storage in the bedroom that will become the rubber room! I love all types of stamping, but really like people, household stuff and scenery! Thanks for taking a read thu on me! This message was from GEORGE DE LAP - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
