The books I received are very kewl. The theme for January was miniature (under 3x3"). Here they are: Kay Grandall - Very small, about 2 x 1 1/2". It's a concertina style book with a winter poem The cover is quite special, shades of blue with specks of silver. Is this ultra thick ep? The book ties with silver metallic threads. Very elegant. Mona Everett - a blue triangle book with blue flowers stamped inside at the corners. This ties with a blue ribbon. The closure on this book is different. I like it, may have to copy it! Sara Margaret - "Romance Through the Year". The covers are purple and pink with hearts stamped on them randomly and a pale pink ribbon to tie together. Wow, when you open the book, at first I thought it was going to be concertina-style, but no, it's almost like a pop up the way it unfolds into triangles. Inside there are suggestions for creating romance through the year. It's all purple and pink and stamped. This is beautifully done. Rosemarie - This is like a matchbook. The outside is black and white checkerboard with 2 photos of Zsa Zsa (one on the front and one on the ack). It says "Men Zsa Zsa Gabor." Inside are pages of quotes. The inside of the book is finished in silver paper. This book is a hoot. I may have to copy this format too! Honey Comer - "You Know You're Drinking Too Much Coffee When ..." The cover is brown and the pages are a roasted tan. It's full of those coffee sayings and stamped with coffee beans and cups and such. It's very funny and very well done. Patty Shrader - the spine of the book is actually the ribbon that ties it together. The pages are concertina and have a rollograph of nasturiums across the bottom. Very pretty idea and one I had not seen before. The covers are very pretty paper and ties with a green ribbon. Every one of these books is quite special. I'm so glad I participated and many thanks to Terri for hosting. He is also quite a prankster. So, I would like to beg all of you to send him a card to show him what we "all do at home"! I am getting tired of writing "CCCC" on all of them! One of the Sketchbook Clubs I'm in has a stamp and it is nice! I know there are list vendors who do this sort of thing. How many would be interested? We could put out bids? And if any member is willing to design the thing, please step forward! One to hold the jump ring steady and one to open/close. Next, be sure that you are opening and closing them in the correct manner. This is hard to describe without showing you or using pictures so let's use the letter O to represent the jump ring and let's suppose that the point where the two ends of the jump ring meet are at the top of the letter O. Hold the jump ring steady with one pair of pliers of the left side of the O. Grab onto the right side of the letter O with the other pair of pliers. DO NOT open the jump ring by pulling the left side to the left and right side to the right. This stresses the metal (which eventually weakens and breaks), distorts the tempered shape, and you'll never get them to meet again satisfactorily. Instead, hold the left side steady and bend the right side towards you (or away from you if that's easier). You're sort of opening it sideways. Are you with me? Now continue to hang on to the left side of the O and put your other pliers down and slip the charm or chain or whatever on the end of the right side of the O. Pick up your other pliers and grab back onto the right side of the letter O and bend it away from you (or towards you if you had previously bent it away), back into position in alignment with the left side of the letter O. The point where the two ends meet should already be in perfect alignment because you haven't distorted the shape. Still with me? I'll try again if this isn't clear, K? Write back. Does anybody carry RAK stickers, I have seen them on envys that I have gotten in the mail. 3. Does anybody have any simple way of adding charms to an item using jump rings. I have the rings jumping all over the place when I try to open them and my hands get black and blue trying to close them. Any idea.
