My DH's command gave me a plaque that said this when he re-enlisted last time. I'm sure many of you have seen it, but I thought you might like to see it again. Kim:The Happy Stamper The Military Wife The good lord was creating a model for military wives and was into his sixth day of overtime when an angel appeared. She said: "Lord, you seem to be having a lot of trouble with this one. What's wrong with the standard model?" The Lord replied: "Have you seen the specs on this order? She has to be completely independent, possess the qualities of both father and mother, be a perfect hostess to four or fourty with an hour's notice, run on black coffee, handle every emergency imaginable without a manual, be able to carry on cheerfully, even if she is pregnant and has the flu, and she must be willing to move to a new location ten times in seventeen years. And oh, yes, she must have six pairs of hands." The angel shook her head, "Six pairs of hands? No way." The Lord continued, "Don't worry, we will make other military wives to help her. And we will give her an unusually strong heart so it can swell with pride in her husband's achievements, sustain the pain of separations, beat soundly when it is overworked and tired, and be large enough to say, 'I understand' when she doesn't, and say, 'I love you,' regardless." "Lord," said the angel, touching his arm gently, "Go to bed and get some rest. You can finish tomorrow." "I can't stop now," the Lord said, "I am so close to creating something unique. Already this model heals herself when she is sick, can put up six unexpected guests for the weekend, wave goodbye to her husband from a pier, a runway, or a depot, and understand why it's important that he leave." The angel circled the model of the military wife, looked at it closely and sighed, "It looks fine, but it's too soft." "She might look soft," replied the Lord, "but she has the strength of a lion. You would not believe what she can endure." Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek of the Lord's creation. "There's a leak," she announced. "Something is wrong with the construction. I am not surprised that it has cracked. You are trying to put too much into this model." The Lord appeared offended at the angel's lack of confidence. "What you see is not a leak," he said. "It's a tear." "A tear? What is it there for?" asked the angel. The Lord replied, "It's for joy, sadness, pain, disappointment, loneliness, pride, and dedication to all the values she and her husband hold dear." "You are a genius!" exclaimed the angel. The Lord looked puzzled and replied, "I didn't put it there." The author of this is unknown. I know my descriptions can not do them justice, they were really beautiful. Thanks also to Bonnie for being such a great hostess and for sending us little valentine charm gifts! Sorry to be late in posting these but I just didn't have time earlier. I really appreciate all the great cards and also appreciate those of you who posted about what you received. Legge: Light green cardstock layered with peach and over that, a green print wallpaper with peach rosebuds. A heart is stamped and cut out in the center of the card and the heart has been filled with lavender. What a beautiful card and a wonderful idea. I love lavender. Inside the card is stamped "With loving thoughts" and is trimmed with a peach ribbon bow and a gold heart charm. I love this card! Sara: White glossy cardstock stamped and embossed with silver in a flower arrangement/swag design which she has colored in very nicely. Great card! Bonnie: White cardstock layered with dark red cardstock. Both pieces have been deckle edged. Over this is a paper ribbon and on this is a sponged paper heart with a love postoid on top. Dangling from this is a heart charm. "For you with love" is stamped at the bottom. Inside Bonnie included a package gift of the great charms we love to buy from her. Beautiful card! Thanks for the charms! Deb: Eggplant cardstock with a gold embossed filigree background, on top of this is mauve cardstock stamped in mulberry to look like lace. Over this are two beautiful cherubs stamped on mauve mulberry paper. A gold embossed love stamp is stamped on eggplant paper and is layered with a gold heart and gold corrugated paper and a piece of gold sheer ribbon. So beautiful and I love collages! Cynthia: Red cardstock with a stamped Victorian couple leaning on a fence, layered on white cardstock and very nicely colored in. I have this stamp and your beautiful card is just the inspiration I need to use it! Michele: Pink cardstock with decorative edges has dark red paper layered over that, then white mulberry paper on top of that with a mauve heart cut out and embossed in gold. Very pretty card! Jennifer: Pink cardstock with hearts and gold paper cutouts in the background. Layered on this is a dark red cardstock with white cardstock layered over this. Stamped on the white cardstock and embossed in gold is the PSX LOVE stamp. You did such an outstanding job of coloring in all the little flowers, letters, and butterflies on this stamp, that it is now on my wish list. See what you have done? Beautiful card! Marsha: Burgundy cardstock with rose marble cardstock, on this are two beautiful Burgundy hearts embossed with white, for a wonderful look, tumbling out of a bag that is embossed with gold ink on gift wrap and then embossed with clear embossing powder. A heart charm is in the corner. Wonderful card! Rebecca: Purple cardstock stamped with hearts. Two Victorian ladies are gossiping under the moon with the message "Psst.....have you heard? It's VD!" Are the ladies computer generated or is it a stamp? They are so detailed. Very pretty and you made me laugh too! Kim: Red cardstock with decorated corners. White heart on top of this with two beautiful cherubs painting a heart stamped and layered with pop dots on top of this (great stamp) and over top of the heart is a big brass bow. Very nice card! Sandy: Pink cardstock with a big red heart on top, layered over this is a stamp of a Victorian lady and the saying "May everyday be a celebration of the heart". This is all nicely painted in watercolors. Beautiful! This message was from "Brenda J. Volpe" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. I would suggest that whoever designs the stamp gets theirs free. I would be willing to provide theirs at no charge as long as they signed a release form stating that this is their original artwork and giving me the rubberstamp rights to the design. This means no clip art. It would have to be 100% original. However, I was bummed to find out that they only sell to whole sale buyers. Does anyone carry their products or know how I could get my hands on some of their stamps?
