From Michele Pryor an adorable card with a bunch of big ants stamped on the front and "I heard you are an ant" then more big ants on the inside! This is so clever and it makes me smile every time I look at it, thank you! From Sandra Haycock a beautiful vase with peacock feathers in it stamped on some really pretty white paper. It's another aunt card and it's just beautiful. By the way, my sister won't part with the cards you all sent her but as soon as I can pry them out of her hands I will describe them. Her new baby has colic like nobody's business and these cards have sure helped to brighten her scream filled days. Sarah West is my birthday twin so we groundhogs decided to exchange cards. She stamped one of those cute house mouse mouse house (I never can remember how that goes) mouses and colored him with watercolors, I believe. It's always hard to tell how something was colored if the person doesn't get out of the lines. It was beautifully mounted on coordinating cardstock with fancy cut corners. Very elegant and I like feet on those little mice! Debbie Coller sent a beautiful purple card with lots of colorful balloons on the front and Happy Birthday mounted over the top. Very party looking! And to think all I had to do was beg on bended knee to get it. At the same time I was begging Debbie C, I also begged Debbie Burnham for a card and she must have felt sorry enough for me to comply. Her card was made from foam core with a circle cut out and half of a plastic ornament mounted in the circle. Then inside the ornament there were 3 pieces of acetate with birthday paraphernalia stamped and mounted on them. I'm not saying this right. When you look at the clear ornament, you see stamped hats and gifts and stuff appear to be floating inside. But actually they're stuck to circles of acetate which were glued to the ornament. Aarrgghh! It's really, really cool but I can't describe it so offer Deb some cash and I'll bet she'll send you one. (You can thank me for that later). And from Helene Carvallio (whose last name I probably botched beyond belief..sorry!) sent a beautiful card with a wallpaper background and a precious angel layered on top. Now let me see. Colored with pencils maybe? She didn't get out of the lines either, so I can't tell. Very beautiful card, thank you Helene! And Kristen Watts sent me one of her convention pins with a sunflower stamped on cork and colored with markers, I think. No, she didn't get out of the lines either but there aren't too many choices for cork! Very cute, Kristen, and I hope we can spend more time together at the next convention. Oh my gawwwwwsh! I just checked my mail and I'm so glad I did. Sunny Howard sent a great pin/magnet/magnet/pin (she couldn't decide) and I'm gonna steal this idea from you, I hope you know. It's a laminated pin with a RSA bra stamped in gray and over that a message from Ruby Red Rubber that says "Warning: Wearing dirty underwear. If in an accident just let me die." ROFL! You just made my day :) These were all just too wonderful, thank you so much, Shannon This message was from Shannon Green - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Since I'm back on-and-off after an absence, I thought I'd just introduce myself to the new folks and respond to a very interesting post I received this morning. I've been stamping for only 3 years or so now, but I've thoroughly enjoyed following all kinds of stamping paths and certainly have my areas of expertise and areas of total failure (like sponging ). I started as a quilter stamping on her quilts, but haven't touched fabric for WAY too long now (haven't done a quilt for about 2 years). I especially love working with realistic, ethnic and stylized images....but don't do much holiday or cute stamping (although I have my share of D.O.T.S. images)...I don't 'do' humor or bizzare at all. Favorite companies are ERA Graphics, Non Sequitur, Third Coast, and many many many more. I also enjoy scene stamping....integrating images from 5 or more companies into a cohesive 'whole'. I've been teaching stamping classes for over a year and specialize in technique classes: brayering, using interference/iridescent pigments, suminagashi marbling and eraser carving. I love learning along with the participants in a class as I share what I've found about a topic. Carving has become a major obsession for me over the past year, and I ended up having folks encourage me to market the images that resulted from this obsession, so that's why I started a business. I was somewhat active on rubberstampers roughly a year ago, but my 'real' work had to take precedence when my group was asked to do 2 years work in 1 year after losing 2 people. This meant I had to prioritize and my activity on the rubberstampers list had to take a hiatus. My weenie home system simply can't accommodate hundreds of posts per day. I did join sara-L and cc-L, where the discussion is more subject-focused and lacks the tremendous volume of daily posts; I could keep my fingers in the rubber-pot and still keep up with my other demands. . I recently was able to hire a new person, and now have some breathing space. I work full-time as a supervisory research fishery biologist for the National Marine Fisheries Center in Seattle, WA . My group specializes specializes in walleye pollock and rockfish species, both of which are political hot-potatoes these days. Due to a number of work-related injuries during my sea-days, I don't go out to sea any longer....but maintain a strong love for those things 'marine'. My MS dealt with harbor porpoise, and marine mammals were my major topic of interest for almost 10 years of study. However, the jobs are in the world of commercial fisheries . I also have Siberian Huskies, am listowner for an e-mail discussion list on Siberian Huskies (which takes priority over my stamping activities), and am dealing with the loss of my 12-year old rough collie recently to bloat, and am looking forward to adding a Belgian tervuren puppy to my pack this year. I am lucky enough to own acreage and also have a poultry flock of 70+ ducks-geese-and chickens. Two rabbits (Flemish giant and a mini-rex mix) make up the rest of my 'mini zoo' and I'm considering adding a goat to help me wage war on the blackberry vines in my top pasture . Anyway, there appears to be some concern on the part of at least one person who wrote me (unsigned/anonymous e-mail address) and indicated that they felt USED because I'm now back and am posting to the list re: my new company. One snip is particularly interesting (sic):<< You're stamps are nice, BTW, but I wouldn't buy them becuase i don't like feeling used. I'm not the only one who feels this way either. It's been a source of conversation for a couple of days.>> Indication was made that I'm seen (at least by this one person) as someone here <>. I'd like to encourage anyone who has concerns about my participation on this list to talk it out with me (please tell me who you are as it's not particularly constructive to converse with a 'youllneverknowwhoiam ' mystery person). I love learning how to be a better stamping-idea sharer and hate to think I've fallen short in that department. Please....I'm NOT asking for/or requiring any sympathy here...I'm pretty thick-skinned after moderating a dog-related list for 3 years ....but I am concerned if this opinion re:my participation/business is widespread. I was quite surprised. And thanks to the many friends-from-the-past who have given me inspiration, suggestions and support! Thank you so much for hosting Victoria and thank you for the stamps Lisette. I made 15 cards so I could get one of each card back so I will make the descriptions brief. In no particular order : Victoria Flaherty - This is a stunning card. She embossed a floral in silver framed it with a smooth silver paper and mounted it on a green card with sponged metallic on it. Lynda - Starry night nude centered on denim card stock framed with maroon corrugated paper and topped off with a cut out of a moon and some stars. The inside has a nice saying. This is very pretty. Suzanne - Another beautiful card. a couple embracing, colored very nicely and set off with gold here and there. This is mounted on maroon stock and then mounted on denim stock that has been embossed with leaves and this is mounted on navy. Linda Sobolewski - This card is too cool. A woman on a dry cracked desert, in a doorway with a fountain pen pointing at her. On the back a message to Griffin from Sabine. Very nice. Linda Sobolewski again - You are very talented. The heartbroken nude is embossed in a pinky red on vellum and colored she is then put in a frame with photo corners and mounted on maroon and mounted on a gray pink marble paper. Priputon @bellsouth.net - Also did two cards. The first is a flemish lion embossed in black on gray cardstock. The second one is Is the grave post stamp covered with a pearl embossing powder and mounted on black. This is set on a cream card stock stamped with dancing skeletons embossed with a glow in the dark EP. (it really works I tried it!) Ann - she used the same flower stamp as Victoria, It is neat to see the same stamp used differently. She embossed in Gold and colored very delicate colors. This is mounted on green, which is mounted on a deep maroon, which is mounted on brown. Lisette Cannedy - The heartbroken nude Stamped on pink marble paper and cut out is sitting in a room that has the floor and two side walls of cracked tile. The back wall is gone and there are clouds and birds. This mounted on silver and the mounted on blue. This card has a neat feel to it. Patty Sulcs - This is neat midevil theme. Three different knights on horses riding away from a far off castle. This is colored and sponged very nicely. RubberTales - She stamped the moonscape scene with an autumn type rainbow pad Then she used Liquid glass or something similar on it. This is mounted on a green mulberry paper and then on red/brown cardstock. This is in a clear envelope that has the neatest confetti/glitter. Melanie Allen - She stamped the running mail guy on a pretty white mulberry paper and colored him. This is pasted on a tan card. In the corner it says extraordinary correspondence. This postcard is in a translucent vellum envelope that is stamped with a first class stamp and the word Lat. When the post card is in the envelope the whole thing works really well together. Told you this was long!!!! Christine Cox - She did a fabulous background on Navy I really can't describe it but it has lots of metallics. On this is the couple embracing stamp done with a pretty rainbow pad. This is the coolest background. Ms. Hare- There is a fan made out of a womans face and hair that is held by a hand. I don't recognize the stamp but it is really neat. This is a simple but stunning in its simplicity. Sandy Lemons _ Last but certainly not least. She started with white stock and stamped Japanese (?) symbols then laid a piece of black askew and then a beautiful Japanese woman on this. There is a gold embossed fan set on this. I love the way this is put together. This was a fun swap. We will have to do it again. SHORT VERSION: My name is Raine Czekalski, 31, married, mom of 7, professional army wife. Hobies are ceramics, rubberstamping, my children, driving my DH batty. I currently live in Hanau Germany. LONG VERSION: For those of you who think i have a really cool first name i hate to disillousin you. I was born Teresa Lorraine Moorehead and growed in Arkansas. When i left arkansas and got out into the civilized non-hillbilly backwoods world. i discovered that my name was common and I knew that i didnt want to be common. So i started using the part of my middle name that i did think was un common and un usuall. lorRaine. and Raine is how i think of myself. As for being 31 there is no lie there. and i cant even make that interesting or into a long story. Now for being a Mom of 7 that is an interesting story. I was married at 19 being the dumb hillbilly i was married the first guy i could trick into it. (had to change that last name from moorehead somehow.) After being married for 7 years and had 3 beautiful children (Nic 10/86, Veronique 9/88, Monica 4/90) I discovered that i was tired of running from him and his abuse and i left. the first thing i discovered after 7 years of bad marriage was that sex WAS supposed to feel good and be fun (he was my first). I had a 4th child (Brock 3/93) whose biological father ran off on me as soon as I told him. (geez do i pick bad men or what) Then May of 96 i got a job as a Live in nanny. He has 3 children (Brittany 9/90 twins Alex & Mark 1/94) me and my boss didnt get along to well but (smile) we did share a few interests . (dont know to many who can be in the middle of a fight to ummm well rassal and then keep fighting) He and I finaly stopped fighting and got married. Sept 2, 97. We have a wonderful relationship and never fight anymore (although we still rassal) So between the 2 of us we have 7 children. My ex husband didnt want me bring the older ones to germany so they are with him right now and my DH's daughter is with her granny right now so all i have with me are the boys. and 3 pre- school children keep me busy. My DH is in the army and right now we are stationed in Hanau Germany (anyone wanting to come visit come on over i have an extra bedroom) My husband came over here last april and came home and married me and brought me and the boys over here in sept. He was sent to Bosnia in Dec right before christmas. Like many army family's you learn to adjust to seperations and we celebrated christmas in nov with thanks giving. I had been spending my spare time going to my MWR shop and doing ceramics but with my DH gone and 3 preschoolers i had no time to get out of the house to do my ceramics. a friend led me into the wonderful worl of rubberstamping in jan and now i'm hooked. I love it cause i can do it here at home while the boys are playing. we all sit at the table. i got them a set of childrens stamps and they each get one ink pad. and together we stamp. I have joined a few swaps and cant wait to get back from them. I plan to use the cards and things i get as hints for future projects so if any get a card from me with their idea on it i hope it's ok. I have been expermenting with different things like layering and such but my supplies here are slim. i did get a rak with some shelf paper in it and thought that was a great idea for layering a stamped card. Being in Germany is quite an experiecnce. Before my husband left we went to a small castle and it was so great. when he gets home we are going to go see a few more before he goes to school in virginia. (the army loves these seperations). I have been getting my supples at the MWR shop but they dont have much and they only carry one or two brands so i dont have much varity. If anyone has old used stamps that they dont want any more I would be more than happy to take them off your hands and give them a good and loving home. Well this has gotten long and i'm sure more than some of you wanted to know. so i will end for now. If anyone wants more info about me just ask as i am not shy about telling on myself. ha ha later taters Raine This message was from CZarrata@aol.com - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
