Subject: RS: TAN: Humor: Dog Fight Isn't my MIL the greatest!!! The Americans and Russians at the height of the arms race realized that if they continued in the usual manner they were going to blow up the whole world. One day they sat down and decided to settle the whole dispute with one dog fight. They would have five years to breed the best fighting dog in the world and which ever side's dog won would be entitled to dominate the world. The losing side would have to lay down its arms. The Russians found the biggest meanest Doberman and Rottweiler females in the world and bred them with the biggest meanest Siberian wolves. They selected only the biggest and strongest puppy from each litter, killed his siblings, and gave him all the milk. They used steroids and trainers and after five years came up with the biggest meanest dog the world had ever seen. Its cage needed steel bars that were five inches thick and nobody could get near it. When the day came for the dog fight, the Americans showed up with a strange animal. It was a nine foot long Dachshund. Everyone felt sorry for the Americans because they knew there was no way that this dog could possibly last ten seconds with the Russian dog. When the cages were opened up, the Dachshund came out of it's cage and slowly waddled over towards the Russian dog. The Russian dog snarled and leaped out of it's cage and charged the American dachshund. But, when it got close enough to bite the Dachshund's neck, the Dachshund opened it's mouth and consumed the Russian dog in one bite. There was nothing left at all of the Russian dog. The Russians came up to the Americans shaking their heads in disbelief. "We don't understand how this could have happened. We had our best people working for five years with the meanest Doberman and Rottweiler females in the world and the biggest meanest Siberian wolves." "That's nothing", an American replied. The white block in the middle has a Happy Birthday stamped with a rainbow pad.Very colorful! 3.Cindy Fitzgerald brayered blue and pink over white gloss cs. She had stamped a feather on it first with clear embossing ink. When you go over it with a brayer it leaves an impression! I use this technique alot for backgrounds! Then she embossed the same feather in purple glitter over the top....very kewl card!!! 4. Linda Farrell did a wonderful fairy hiding in tulips in a floral flowerpot. Great watercoloring and she lightly lifted the 3 tupils with foam tape and glittered the fairy wings. This was layered on peach cs on a confetti card! Wow! 5.Ann Stone did an Acy Duecy stamp if a flamingo dancer embossed in black with the rose colored red and the hummingbird green. I received your payment for the CCCC postoids this morning, thank you! I just finished putting the finishing touches on your little organizer book and your order will go into tomorrow's mail. In case you want to know how I did the cover: I used Petal-Points to smoosh calico colors onto glossy sticker paper, then rubbed off the surface with a paper towel and set it aside. In CorelDraw-7, I typed "Meow" and "Purrr" using a font called "Ogilvie." I added a little kitty pawprint after each word, then grouped them, tilted them 45 degrees and duplicated again and again, until I had filled enough area to make the book cover. (Please let me know if you think this word make a good wordprint rubberstamp, k?) I printed this out onto plain white paper with my HP Office Jet. Then I used my Canon copier to copy the wordprint onto the glossy cardstock I painted earlier. (I didn't want to risk smearing with the inkjet.) I then glued it to the book and heat embossed with clear EP. I think it looks pretty kewl, hope you like it! This was a fun book to make. :) I want to thank you for suggesting this CCCC design, I hope you will be as pleased with it as I am! :) I have added this postoid to my line and you are the first to have them! I definitely believe in things supernatural. Not god, but other things--okay, asbestos suit on, flame on! I truly believe that I have a psychic connection to my grandma (in FL) and my great-grandma (dead since '83). I know that sounds weird, freaky, whatever, but it's what I believe and that's just the way it is. I think sometimes that I've been reincarnated because I remember things that I *know* never happened to me, places I've never been, but then some part of me says, "NO way, you're just making it up." Re-reading _The Temple of My Familiar_ has made me realize these things more and deeper than before. From what you've said, your husband is thoughtful, he's good with his hands, he's interested in what you do . . . those are all the kinds of things I'd write in "HIS" book. Never has any other gift meant as much or been so treasured.=20 In the recent past here on the list it was suggested to stamp lips or hearts (or whatever . . . ) on a pair of silk boxers for him. Another idea was given to wrap a boxed bar of Lever 2000 (bath soap) and stamp with kisses - the sentiment being: "I'd like to kiss all your 2000 body parts". In the newsletter the "Dollar Stretcher" this website was posted. It has some fun ideas, a couple of which I've posted below.=20 http://www.stretcher.com/stories/980129b.htm --------------------- Balloon Surprise Here are some inexpensive idea's for Valentines Day. Construction Paper, crayons, markers : with these tools you can make your own decorations, Cards, etc. If you cut out small hearts out of the construction (or any paper for that matter), write sayings on them. Poems, lyrics to love songs, little IOU's for your significant other (like doing the dishes, making their favorite dinner, good for ?????.) Take these hearts, fold them in half. Buy a bag of balloons, blow up the balloons, and place a heart in each balloon. Place these balloons in a room with the door closed, in a car at work, or while they are sleeping. Make a card, string a needle on thread, or string. Tape the string to the card. Tell the person in the card that they have to pop the balloons to get goodies inside. --Sheri --------------------- Finger Paint A bottle of red finger paint provided a Valentine's Day for my sweetheart that will not be forgotten! I took a sponge and the red finger paint, and went to his place of employment. I painted red hearts all over the windows and windshield of his car, making sure to leave it so he could see out to drive home. He loved it! --H. --------------------- Magical Mystery Tour My best valentines day was spent in the Singapore Botanical gardens after a mystery bus ride..with a picnic basket (inexpensive food & fruits) ended with a reading of "100 reasons why I love you" S. M. --------------------- Special Memories What I do for this and other holidays is think about your most treasured memory involving this person. Then, I try to think of some trinket that will remind him/her of that time. For example, my favorite memory of my dad is once when he rescued some baby rabbits from a fire. For Christmas, I bought him a ceramic bunny ($3) and wrote a letter to him telling him how proud I was to be his daughter. I find this is an inexpensive and more meaningful way to celebrate special days. Amy in Murray, KY --------------------- Through this Door Here is an idea that I have actually used and that went over big with my husband. The idea is to make a sort of "bead" curtain for a doorway ... only instead of beads, you use paper hearts about 2"-3" across. You will need: * colored paper (shades of red, pink, and purple) for the hearts * scissors * Scotch tape * Thread or some sort of lightweight ribbon (or even long strip of paper) to fasten the hearts to. 1. Cut out your hearts (draw around a heart-shaped object of the right size or fold the paper in half and cut). 2. Write little sayings on the hearts, like on those little candy hearts. Use your pet names for each other, lines from your favorite songs, quotes from your favorite movies, whatever you find romantic. 3. Tape the hearts to your thread, ribbon, or paper strips, then attach the string of hearts to the top of the doorway. I used thread, but it tangles! To avoid this problem, use ribbon or paper, or if you must use thread, tape it to the top of the doorway first, and then tape the hearts to it. Saves lots of aggravation. That's it! It's charming and romantic. Kathy S. --------------------- Book Full of Ideas There are two books I can recommend for not only Valentine's Day ideas but for ideas for romance all year long. They are 1001 Ways to Be Romantic and 1001 More Ways to Be Romantic by J.P. Godek. There are many, many ideas that don't cost much money and some that could add up. Best of all, whether you use one of the ideas or not, it gets your romantic creativity going. For those who don't have much creativity, it could give you that idea that would mean so much for your significant other so check them out! Romance is always appreciated whether you're male or female! Don't spend time complaining about your mate/significant other if you're not doing your part either! --Lois B. --------------------- A Poem One time I took a huge piece of poster board, made up a poem to my husband, and set it in the front yard for the whole world to see as they came by. Boy was he surprised when he came home from work! Another time I took inexpensive candies and put them together to form a poem of sorts. Like - some people may (snicker), but you are my (sweetheart), etc. --Louannda --------------------- Sweet As Candy When my husband and I were first married 10 years ago, we were very strapped for extra cash. On valentine's day, I made him a love note from candy bars. On a big poster board, I wrote him a love letter around candy bars and gum. I taped them on the poster board and left it in his office at work. The letter went something like=20 "Dear BIG HUNK: You are my HERO. You don't SNICKER when I mess things up with my BUTTERFINGERs. You are MOUNDS of fun and give me ALMOND JOY everyday. So on this Valentine's Day, ROLO-over and plant a BIG RED (gum) kiss on me..."=20 You get the idea. Depending upon how you arrange the candy bars you can actually get quite suggestive or quite tame. You would be surprised on all of the kinds of candy available but best of all, your sweetie and you can enjoy it together. Here's to many happy Valentine's days between you and yours! --Liz P. Helena, MT --------------------- 100+ There are many, many ways to do something meaningful with little or no expense. One year (no special occasion) I wrote out 100+ reasons why I love my husband on little pieces of paper. Get creative with this--it can be "the way you brush your teeth" or "your big green eyes." Then I folded up the papers and shoved each on in a balloon, blew them up, tied them, and filled his car with them while he was at work. The sign I put on his window read, "pop the balloons and read all the reasons I love you." He loved it! Of course, he was late getting home from work that night! --Valerie --------------------- Hope you find something that it will give you great pleasure to make/buy/do for him! He thinks it would be great for me to meet some of the list members At your house for pasta. We have been going to the convention for three years now and this will be the fourth. We usually go for the first day and then late that first after noon go on to Cape Cod for a weeks vacation. Well, he suggestion we leave home early, 3-4AM!!! (New York State, Finger lakes area) and get to the convention and then stay over that night going on to Cape Cod on Sunday instead of Saturday. This will definitely be a different trip, but I am almost more excited to meet list members that in going to the convention. No, not really, . . . really? So If you are planning something for that Saturday night, I didn't read all the posts very carefully, not really thinking there was any way I could join everyone, please keep me informed and if directions are needed, pass them on when it is appropriate. I will be recuperating from surgery (april 30th, I hope ) and will have 6-8 weeks off from work, which will culminate with the convention and the week on the Cape. Thanks for reading my long winded message and I can hardly wait for June.
