WOW What a great mail day!! I came home to three packages today and one was a WONDERFUL surprise from my SSS!! This package included the bestest stuff! Everything was all wrapped up in pretty valentine tissue. Oh first the box was stuffed with red paper confetti stuff. My SSS has really been paying attention. That's so wonderful! A couple three weeks ago someone posted a write up about good cat stamps on web site with the Biblical Impressions cats. I checked it out and then commented back to the list that they were great and that I LOVED the cat looking over the edge. And said something like "is my SSS reading this?" Well SHE WAS!!! In the package today is the cat looking over the edge stamp and the paws!! I'm just blown away! Can you feel the big hug!!! HUG HUG HUG HUG HUG Can't wait to play with these! AND a heart filled with chocolate. Another addiction that I should give up (not stamps but chocolate). Thanks for indulging me. (Gotta lose weight for the June convention - yea right) AND a wonderful card. OK You have to tell - who makes that flying bug with the valentine?? THat is just too cute and I'm going to have to have it and love that artists wonderful sense of humor. The card is just beautiful. Oh you can't all see it - It is red cardstock with a piece of white flecked fancy paper mounted on the card with the corners punched out with a heart shape, then a piece of the red paper dollie mounted on the white (love that red doillie stuff), then this adorable bug is mounted onthe center of the red heart doilie. This bug is colored and embossed and has the cutest expression on its face. And three great pens for cards. silver gold and a pink. And some glitter - prisma glitter. very pretty looking. I have worked in the drug and alcohol field for 10 years and am a licenced drug and alcohol counselor as well as a licensed marriage and family therapist, a licensed clinical professional counselr, and a licensed social worker. If you put 20 people in a car, all of whom were smoking pot non-stop, driving across the entire north American continent with all the windows closed in the car, and one person wasn't smoking pot, that person would not test positive for cannabis. Cannabis stays in your system for months and months. I had a patient who was in a lock up, adolescent facility for 8 months and still tested positive for marijuana. He had not used during that period but, nonetheless, tested positive. The length of time the chemicals remain in your system is dependent on several factors which include metabolism, body weight, amoun and frequency of use. It is possible that this young man hasn't used in several months.....he could, nonetheless, test positive for cannabis......and not because of "side smoke." Hair follicles will retain cannabis for years beyond the last use. Personally, I feel badly for him....because of the length of time from his last use can be several months....and despite his use....he performed exceptionally well. Y'know, that reminds me....and maybe you older folks here can help me out on this....it seems to me that they *always* used to show the medal ceremonies, EVEN when it wasn't an American on the stand. I also remember the coverage being much less "packaged" than it seems to be now, I think things really started to change with the 1984 Olympics and especially by 1988 and 1992. The Olympics I'm thinking of ar ethe first two I remember, 1976 and 1980. It also seems like they showed a lot more skiiing inthe winter Olympics then, and in the summer for some reason I remember endless amounts of boxing and weightlifting. Which maybe weren't the most exciting sports but it was about the only time you saw them. And another thing, as long as I'm sounding like Andy Rooney. Whatever happend to Wide World of Sports? Remmber that? It seems like it used to showcase non-hugely-popular sports throughout the year (like skiing in the winter, and swimming or track in the summer, often interspersed with othe revents like golf and such. Now it seems like instead of a variety, we have end to end basketball or football or baseball games. :P I also miss that "agony of defeat" guy. I always loved that. One of the things I love about the Olympics is that it showcases athletes and sports who aren't in front of our faces all the time, every day. Which is why the "dream team" approach to basketball and now hockey makes me sad. I don't wanna see Shaq the Olympian. I want to see the bicyclists and badminton players and volleyball players and divers and curlers and bobsledders and lugers and ski jumpers. and while I like all that neat personal interest stuff (I am after all, a female and therefore the target audience for that sort of thing) I really do wish the commentators would shut the heck up and just let things happen once in a while, instead of constantly interpreting and telling us what we can see with our own eyes. Stop "packaging" the events, just point the camera, show us the score/time clock, and let us watch. Okay, I'm done now. (where all my family is)Though it was just normal parcels, I don't even bother to pay extra for airmail anymore because it still takes 2 weeks at the longest. The last large envelope with photos was mailed the Thursday afternoon, and my Father phoned the next wednesday to say thank you. It's about 10 000km in distance, and he lives in a small one horse town. I was still thinking that I should compliment them on there service, and I'm going to put my thoughts into action tomorrow when I go mail some more stuff! By the way I worked in the PO (in S.A.) for 13 years,I've heard A LOT of these complaints, and must unfortunatly tell you that people working there do make mistakes and sometimes, theft can and does appear. But, the majority is hardworking honest people. I loved working there!
