I've been swearing by the use of 4" x 6" clear acrylic mounts with static-cling'd dies or dies with glue stick or loops of cellophane tape to hold 'em in place. I've recently learned that the HALOSystem offers similar advantages now that they have a mount just over 4" x 6" I do all the "registration" by positioning the dies on the over-size mounts ... there's *no* fiddle-fussing with positioners during actual production. Do documentation, etc., with a printer whenever possible, *before* beginning to stamp. Hand-coloring can sometimes be a portable, half-a-mind operation, which can be integrated with computer time (during downloads, semi-lurking in chatrooms, etc.) and indulged during the 20 minutes/hour non-program time on US commercial television. Save masks and positioning sketches and at least one final "print". I can reproduce everything *but* color more easily from my positioning sketches than I can from the final print. Betty, Welcome back! I'm still here . Yep, there is such an animal. I use them to make faux sealing wax seals all the time. The only drawback is that the colors are not very varied and I don't think they are very pretty IMO. I have a grass green, black, white, and yellow. They are 'childish' crayon type colors. I found them at WalMart. I mostly only use the black, but I think you had to buy the whole assortment. I also think I've seen them at Hobby Lobby. If you want a copper, the only thing I can think of is to melt you a puddle of clear and mix in a lot of copper glitter...I've not tried the copper pearlescent powders yet, but I will later tonight. I've also not tried to mix to get another color. Would green with just a touch of black make a hunter? Something else to try later . I don't try and use the glue gun, but cut off a chip of the stick and use my heat tool. You also might find it helpful to get one of those plastic non stick pads. If you are interested, polymer clay also makes a good faux seal. I've also recently discovered by way of Wendy at AAS that you can imprint shrink plastic while it's still hot..works nicely, but not as high relief as the wax, glue or Fimo. A guy buys a brand new jeep Grand Cherokee for $30,000. and has $400.+ monthly payments. He and a friend go duck hunting and of course, all the lakes are frozen. These two Atomic Brains go to the lake with the guns, the dog, the beer , and, of course, the new vehicle. They drive out onto the lake ice and get ready. Now, they want to make some kind of a natural landing area for the ducks, something for the decoys to float on. In order to make a hole large enough to look like something a wandering duck would fly down and land on, it is going to take a little more effort than an ice-hole drill. Out of the back of the new Grand Cherokee comes a stick of dynamite with a short 40 second fuse. Now these two Rocket Scientists do take into consideration that if they place the stick of dynamite on the ice at a location far from where they (and the Grand Cherokee) are standing, they take the risk of slipping on the ice when they run from the burning fuse and possibly go up in smoke with the resulting blast. So, they decide to light this 40-second fuse and throw the dynamite. Remember a couple of paragraphs back when I mentioned the vehicle, the beer, the guns and the dog? Yes, the dog: a highly trained Black Lab used for retrieving, especially things thrown by the owner? You guessed it; the dog takes off at a high rate of doggy speed on the ice and captures the stick of dynamite with the burning 40-second fuse about the time it hits the ice. the two men yell, scream, wave arms and wonder what to do now. The dog, cheered on, keeps coming. One of the guys grabs the shotgun and shoots the dog. The shotgun is loaded with 8 duck shot, hardly big enough to stop a Black Lab. The dog stops for a moment, slightly confused but continues on. Another shot and this time the dog still standing, becomes really confused and of course scared, thinking these two Nobel Prize winners have gone insane. He takes off to find cover, (with the now really short fuse burning on the stick of dynamite)...under the new Cherokee. BOOM! Dog and Cherokee are blown to bits and sink to the bottom of the lake in a very large hole, leaving the two candidates for Co-Leaders of the Known Universe standing there with this "I can't believe this happened" look on their faces. The insurance company says that sinking a vehicle in a lake by illegal use of explosives is not covered. He had yet to make the first of those $400.+ a month payments!! - --------- End forwarded message ---------- _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Laura Atkinson took black cardstock then over most of the surface she stamped & embossed a lilypad & flower image--all in black. Black on black that shimmers & shines when the light hits it right! In the lower right corner she stamped this same image with pearlescent inks in soft greens & purples. It has an almost other-worldly, etherial appearance-- the way things glow under a black light. It's absolutely beautiful. Laura slipped a piece of vellum inside with a note in silver pen telling me I'd been RAKed. And I certainly have! I have 6 bottles of pearlescent ink that I've done nothing with yet. Your card has inspired me, Laura. Thank you! I know, I'm really asking for it now. That's o.k. I'm adopted. I've basically always known this. I had wonderful adoptive parents. I have one brother and one sister who were also adopted. They aren't my birth siblings. Anyway, my adoptive mother passed away almost two years ago and since then, I have been thinking a lot about looking for my birth mother. I had thought about it before. My brother searched and located both of his birth parents. My Mother (adoptive) told my sister and I that if we had any interest, we ought to look before it may be too late. But I couldn't, partly because I know how hard it would have been on her. Anyway, now I'm thinking about it again. I live in Washington State and know there is an agency called W.A.R.M. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any other agency I might use, or has any information to pass on to me. Thanks to all of you. I already feel like you're part of my adoptive family.
