LOL! I'm the original softie. It was a wonderful movie and I too want to get it on video. But what made it even more interesting to me was that when I came to America many many years ago, I also came across on an ocean liner. The S.S. United States to be specific. On one of her very last transatlantic runs. I was very young so I remember very little about it. Lifeboat drills wearing the Mae West life vests . . . sleeping in my cot with a little niche in the wall beside me where my teddy bear and a little gold wind up alarm clock were stashed . . . and eating meals at a huge round table with a very tall black waiter who took a liking to me and brought me treats (I would remember food related stuff) and spoiled me, even though we spoke different languages. . The United States resides in Philadelphia at the moment, almost completely stripped internally. I hope someone refurbishes her and does something with her. She was a beautiful ship and deserves it. And I would love to go back and walk on her deck again. Today I received a BEAUTIFUL Valentine from her and ELEVEN printouts of backgrounds from the program. These are really nifty. And the card itself is wonderful. She embossed in gold on vellum a floral/ribbon heart, colored the roses in pink and the ribbons with irridescent glitter. Then she ut it out and mounted it on the front of a top fold glossy card. The bottom is trimmed perfectly (I have such trouble making those come out right) with the seagull (I think) trimmers. Some pink mulberry paper is peeking out below. And above the fancy trimmed edge is a strip of really wonderful white ribbon - it's transparent on the edges and a strip in the middle is embroidered and edged in gold. And right in the center of the ribbon is a white silk rose. It's such an elegant card. I shall have to steal the idea. --`--,--{@ Patti in Fort Myers, FL @}--`--,-- Computers are life. Hi Everyone! I wasn't going to get into this - but what the heck! I'm a list newbie (since November on the list) and I have just loved every minute of it! Even now, while I'm wading thru 1000+ messages (could'nt log on for a couple of days and have been backed up ever since - trying to get caught up now) I have learned so much - first about Rubber stamping - tricks, techniques and products that I don't know how I lived without! ISecond - I have also come to know via e-mail and in person some really wonderful people that I enjoy being around " virtually". I truly admire the vendors on the list who are able to earn some money in a field that we all love! Isn't that the best! I have gotten a true stamping and paper education from some of these folks! They are kind and patient with all of my newbie questions and I feel very comfortable in asking them anything! One vendor - the most patient, I might add - has never had an order from me but has answered many, many questions for me. (I am placing an order real soon - she has some stuff I can't live any longer without!). I'm not new to computers or e-mail. My delete key works very well and if I don't have the desire to read a Comm/Ad or TAN on a particular day, I don't. For my $.02 - please continue your Ads. They help me to keep up with whats new and to know what all the other listees are oohing and ahh'ing about! Also love hearing about the RAK's. Before tonight is over - I have several I need to post myself. I've recevied some reallly great things in the last week! Hugs to everyone on the list - I may not know you personally - but I have enjoyed every minute I spend with you here in "the Cyber Stamping Room". Rainbow pads are a quick way to create shading -- especially the illusion of how light affects the sky or different objects. With a pale blue to dark blue spectrum, by brayering you can create the illusion of a deepening blue sky with light blue at the bottom and dark at the top, or the illusion of water hit by sunlight from above (with the light blue at the top and the dark at the bottom). With a pale/bright green to deep green/turquoise spectrum you can stamp a tree, for example, and create the illusion of light striking the tree from the side or from above by how you place the stamp in the pad. (Not earthshaking, I know, but I do like the effect and am generally all in favor of fast! [Thinking I can do something fast is really only a nice illusion, though...]) Deborah ~dkj :-} This message was from Bibelots@aol.com - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. It just sounded like something I had to have. Of course, I've been to busy to experiment, but it is nice to know that there is an article I can read--WHEN my RSM finally does come. I think the owner of the Creative Block is on-line--Ginny, I believe. Mona (who would also like to hear from people who have actually used this stuff!) I opened the Mailbox today, to find a Wonderful RAK from AntJudy!!! She made a VERY simple technique look SO Elegant!! (Thanks AnyJudy, for the directions...I gotta buy some of that stuff, and try it myself, now!!) She used a very dark burgundy CS, which she edged on only two sides. (I always do all four sides, and THIS way looks REALLY Special!) Onto that, she layered a piece of FunFoam that she had heated, and embossed with a RS. I love all the ideas I get from RAKs, and THIS one is Right up there in the top 10!! Now, all I have to do is find some time to get stamping, and maybe I'll be able to dazzle a Newbie or two, myself!! Thanks, antjudy I know my description didn't do it justice, but I hope you sensed just how much I love it.And, Thanks, also, for thinking of me.
