Okay, I have a slight dilemma here. I stamped a scene on some glossy cards with dye ink, thinking the scene would look good in "black and white." Now I find I want to add color...except I don't want to use markers. I'd like a more subtle, pale look, and I need to fill in large spaces as well as small. Of course colored pencils won't work on glossy, and watercolors will smear the dye ink. Any thoughts? I wondered about chalks, but don't have any to experiment with. Tomorrow I'm going to the nearest stamp store (1-1/2 hours away), so I can buy whatever will work, but I need to know what that is! :D Thanks for any help! She added holigraph paper to make it look like water. Patty Tupper-She did the fishing scene from stampin Up, she used foam to make the fish stand out. Robin - She stamped and embossed in copper a seashell and sand dollar. Then she stamped a fish and colored it in. This is all collaged on a fish backround paper and pieces of blue/white stripes. Not just the movie, although that was the > catalyst, but the EVENT...... Amazing.... because I had the very same reaction. I was not that interested in seeing it, but my almost 13 year old daughter really wanted to go. I didn't cry during the movie.... but afterwards for days I was as if in a kind of coma... thinking of nothing else, talking of nothing else, looking for information on the net, finding out who was in what boat, how many children died? how many women? first class vs. second and third? how many crew members were saved? I found sites that told personal stories of some of the survivors and some of those that died.... the 4 year old Lorraine who died with her mother and father because they would not leave the boat without her little brother (who was taken off the Titanic in a lifeboat by his nurse -- she went without telling anyone), and so on... What would it feel like to go into that water? I found myself while washing my hands holding them under the cold water faucet and wondering how cold it was...anywhere close to 28 degrees? My husband was dumbfounded by my reaction... he asked why this was so compelling to me... all of this happened so long ago, and there have been other disasters at sea with even more loss of life and suffering, and my only answer could be "But it wasn't that long ago, it happened last Saturday night... and I was *there*..." And that must be it, that the movie tied fact and fiction so closely together, that so much attention was paid to the large and small details, so much so that it felt so real to me.... I saw part of a special on the Arts and Entertainment channel the other night and learned that when the Titanic went down, there was not the huge downward-pulling swell of water that the people in the lifeboats were afraid would bring them down -- but that it went down so gently that people who were hanging onto the back railing simply let go and started treading water... Now I have to steel myself for my daughter's birthday because she wants the soundtrack... and I'll probably get her that coffeetable book on the making of the movie, too....
