Hello all, My name is Catherine McEvilly..hereafter known as Dooleybug, if that name isn't being used already. I live in Port Crane, NY just outside of Binghamton, NY, which is just outside of nothing much. I am an addictive personality and once I saw a quick bit on stamping on one TV show or another..I bought my first stamp and since then have, single-handedly, considerably reduced the national debt. I am married to a saint named Peter..(he would just kill me for that), the proud mother of two lovely daughters and one granddaughter, who is, simply the cutest, smartest most wonderful little Schwookie in the history of the entire universe. Her name is Carolyn Catherine (named for both her Grandmothers) and she and her parents live in NH..so, off I go, quite often..where, unfortunately, there are quite a few Ben Franklins and no sales tax..(Oh, the excuses I will use). I have been lurking in amazement all week..you are quite a bunch and I would like to become one of the happy bananas. So, now that I have made this dreaded Introduction (want you all to know how wonderful I am, but, frankly, I'm just not that wonderful..lol)..and joined a SWAP (heavens above!! Clueless!! but BEES..I love bees and hives etc, etc!!), in the wrong order, I must admit, I must unsub on Sunday..going to NH to visit and help with a First Birthday Party, [The Schwook'll be ONE..(God, please slow this clock down!!) on Friday, March 6th] so..am bringing my entire stash set aside for my childrens' inheritance and..Ben Franklin's..here I come. In my lurking I have found folks to share happiness with, new job's new grandkids, happy RAK recipients...and, folks to pray with and for..sick baby, chemo patients etc..you are awesome in your caring for each other..and, please, I would like to join you. Have the hot chocolate going, and I'll be >dressed and ready for my first snowmobile adventure! Should I bring >my own heat gun? Or is that included with the room? > >;-) >Lissa<< Lissa!! I didn't even *see* the above until someone else forwarded it to me ... course I've been flipping the finger to the delete key quite frequently .... OK ... here's the deal: Bring your own chocolate and snowmobile suit - the heat gun - where you're going -- you'll be doing embossing over the wood stove. Plan on about 3 or 4 days in the wilderness of northern New Brunswick, in a fully-equipped lodge - wood heat, fireplace, propane lighting ... (I hope you like moose meat...) ... it does have a great water supply (but we have to haul the water from the spring nearby - s'okay - it comes along pretty quick in 5-gallon buckets on a sled behind the snowmobile) - hey - once the water is landed at the back door, we even have a shower facility .. and yes, a flush toilet. The day usually commences at 7:30 - 8:00 a.m., with a humongous breakfast of oatmeal porridge, eggs, ham/sausage/fish, fried potatoes, juice, toast, jam , tea, coffee (and load up!! ... cause we don't usually eat again until about 5:00 p.m. ... except for trail snacks). Plan on spending about 5 or 6 hours a day on the snowmobile (also frequently referred to as a "sled") ... we'll be travelling over smooth groomed trails, at speeds of 45 - 55 mph., visiting other lodges and camps, just touring the trails. We'll also take you through the bush to some hidden lakes and barrens, run out to the shores of the Chaleur Bay ... give you a good perspective of the trails and terrain. Back to the lodge about 4:00 p.m., to check on the evening meal .... which is usually something that's been slow baking or simmering on the woodstove through the day (might be moose meat, baked ham and beans, fish chowder fried chicken....) It will be a substantial meal - accompanied by lots of review of the day on the trail, and a bottle (or two) of wine (also home-made, of course ... and the *greatest*). Dessert is usually not too complicated -- something like cookies or brownies (ice cream). Note here: *Everything* that goes into that lodge is home-made, and we bring out *no* garbage ... - and only generate waste product that can be burned in the woodstove (we recycle the wine bottles). Beer cans or other bottles go in a holding facility until spring ... at which time we bring them out to a recycling depot ... the $$'s are used to refill the lodge's propane tanks. We'll take a supply of stamps, pads, etc., etc. ... and during the long evenings we'll stamp and chat and eat ... (we don't snowmobile at night - just don't like it, unless we're going somewhere specific ... like to visit at another lodge, etc.). After supper, we get the wood in from the (attached) woodshed for the night and the next day. We have Scrabble tournaments (& arguments), play cards, read ... check our gear to make sure everything is copesetic for the next day on the trail. You'd think without the TV, the evening would be long ... but, not so! Is this what we *really* do at the lodge? Yeah ... about 2 or 3 days pretty much every week since the middle of January. We had some bitterly cold weather, and storms which kind of upset the schedule a few times. The past week, we were on a tour away from the local area on Monday and Tuesday, and have had nothing but rain since ... the trails will be the pits! Oh ... my friend's "camp" recently was reclassified to a "lodge" - because it has facilities to accommodate 8 people ... in all seriousness, Lissa, you might want to think about this - our season is fast drawing to a close .. but there's always next winter!! Anyone else?? February is definitely the best month! Ant Judy H. Hi, I got one too...I think they should move to NC. Most of the time we have really great weather. Lately with El Nino all we get is RAIN. Hey Angelhrt, I loaded my picture into my screen saver here at work. Everyone at work is so impressed (read jealous) that I have a signed & numbered original by the one and only Angelhrt. I can't wait to get more of them. I was completely blown away that someone can create such art with rubber stamps. Thanks again for the great picture. In a message dated 98-02-27 09:57:16 EST, you write: << Revive your dried up Marvy markers by taking the end cap off and adding a couple of drops of water in the marker. Wait about 24 hours for the water to work it's way down the marker... and you will be able to use it for a while longer!! >> You can actually do this for several times before you notice any coloration change. Then, the more times you do it, you end up with a pastel version of the original pen. Very nice! :) Mary This message was from ISTMP2 - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Watch for several other items I found this morning. 20 sheets (about 8"x10") of sticker paper, with REMOVABLE adhesive for $11.00 and this includes the shipping. I was having great fun with this stuff last making postoids of a friends baby's picture and then cutting with the postage stamp edgers, and sticking them to everything in sight. Then, being able to remove them and stick it somewhere else. The paper is a 60# white matte, with the removable adhesive. One of the features of this sticker paper that I like is that, the backing paper is scored every 1 1/4", so it the piece your child uses is larger that that, it is very easy to remove the backing.
