What a wonderful weekend. The San Mateo convention on Saturday and Sunday our first grandchild was born. 8 lbs. 10 oz. Alexia Rene Morrison. (ARM for short?) My sister says she's gonna call her AleMo. A mass of auburn hair and she was too long to measure on the scale so they were gonna have to use a tape measure and do it after she was cleaned up better. My son helped thru the whole delivery and we all got to hold the baby when she was less then an hour old and she was incredible. I never knew I could feel like this. The first thing you need to do is get the bus route and actual bus number, driver's name, where the accident occured (where the bus was) and immediately file an accident report with the transit company. If there were witnesses, you need to get names and how to contact them (is this a regular bus route for you). As this is kind of after the fact, you might have to put an ad in the paper and see if anyone comes forward. At a minimum, do something today to report the accident and get the follow up info later. You also should get to ER today, again to document what has occurred. Ellie, As an insurance professional I'm about as cynical as one can get. I see people doing their best to take advantage of insurance companies on a constant basis. And overall, we're considered the 'bad guys." Everyone thinks insurance companies have money to burn, so why not pad the loss a litte (or a lot). That said, while I'm as cynical as can be, I'm also as compassionate as can be when there's a real problem. And I think you truly have a reason to request to have your medical bills paid. The driver was negligent (at least it sounds that way). I know they have a schedule to keep and they DO try to keep the vehicle moving, but provided that you were moving at ordinary speed to your seat, then he should have waited for you. I wouldn't have much sympathy if you sued them for a million dollars , but I think you deserve to have your medical bills paid.
