Drying the petals: I place the petals in a single layer on top of a piece of paper towel. I microwave for 20-30 second increments, checking often & stirr them around to avoid burning them. May take 2 minutes or so total microwave time, but that depends on your microwave. When they are "dry" to the touch, you're done. I let them sit out for another day and then checked again to see if they were still "dry". If not, microwave them a bit more. The red rose petals I dried stayed a bright red color. Hope this helps. I have a friend who dries just about everything. Things that I buy to eat, she buys to dry. She's even dried figs in the microwave (but that takes 20 minutes plus).
