From Chris McEwen at Socrates Press, not one but *two* great personal postal cancellation stamps. If you haven't treated yourself to one of these neat red rubber stamps, well, what are you waiting for?! The price is right, the turnaround is quick and Mr. Chris is witty and erudite. Besides that, you'll be tickled to see how Chris fits your text (and I had *lots*) into this postmark format. And for an old fashioned gal like myself who loves the "objectness" of well-cushioned red rubber on a perfectly indexed white maple mount, these stamps are a delight. Thanks, Chris! And from our list bud Sandy Lemons, who is ailing mightily at this moment and has all our good thoughts and best wishes: One of Sandy's exquisite Pearlescent Powders Samplers! Sandy has very cleverly and thoughtfully packaged 5 incredible colors of pearlescent powders along with a supply of that elusive powdered gum arabic, so one can get started experimenting right away. These pearlescent powders are really sumptuous and I'm looking forward to using them with my stamped images and text in my book work. Though Sandy's ill, she has a great support team at home taking up the slack, so rest assured that your order will be handled with dispatch - just like mine was. ;-) Big thanks to two wonderful vendors and very neat people! This week I finally got set up to make my own stamps. I want to thank everyone who has been so wonderful about taking a leap of faith on a new vendor and ordering cardstock grabbags from me. What I would like to offer now is a grabbag of unmounteds of my 1st plate of rubberstamps for $20.00 which includes shipping in the US. Add $1.00 shipping for Canada, Germany, Great Britain and Ireland. Add $2.00 shipping for Australia and New Zealand. Let me know if I left anyone out. There are a total of eighteen images that fill a 9" x 13" sheet. There are six large ones, 4 medium, 4 small, 2 word type and 2 tiny ums. The large stamps are all large enough to fill the front of a card. These include a frog on a lily pad, a bridge with a stream running underneath, a mountain scene, 2 hummingbirds with flowers, a beach scene with seashells, and a large basket of flowers. The medium stamps include an Indian girl feeding a bird, a boy bunny shyly giving a girl bunny flowers, a feather (like a writing quill), and a sign that says Honeybees Welcome. The small stamps are a cactus, a begging dog, a chick on an egg with a feather in his hat and a butterfly. The word stamps are Handstamped By: and Good Job! The tiny stamps are a bird in flight (perfect for adding to the sky of your card) and a postoid size frog on a lily pad. I also sell HALOS and loop tape for those of you that use HALOS or are wanting to get a started set of HALOS. The images on this sheet of rubber will take about a yard of loop tape which is $5.99 per yard. If you order it with the UM Grabbag then there would be no additional shipping charges. I accept checks, money orders, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. I would love to make a grabbag of ums for you or for your SS. By the way, Creative Images is an angel company. AOL's internet relay chat is some wonky, but this is how you do it: Go to internet however that's done. Anyway, when you're at the place on AOL where you're going to different web pages and stuff, you're through their internet gateway and you can do the chat part. Minimize AOL. Yes, the whole thing. Minimize it. Now start your chat software. Lots of different shareware and freeware ones (and now I forgot what kind of computer you use), I like mIRC and pIRCh for Windows, Macheads seem to like IRCle the best. For a rundown of software and instructions on setting them up, check out the Dueling Modems chat web page at http://chat.dm.net and that won't get you to chat but will get you to where you can download the software of choice. Anyway, assuming you've got your chat software installed and now AOL minimized, open your chat software. That web page above will tell you what menu option to put the server information in. For AOL, the server name is www.dm.net and the port is 4000 (something about AOL's firewall not working with normal server info), you put that in the slot (if there's just one) as www.dm.net:4000. For people not on AOL it's irc.dm.net:6667. Once you get all this scrolling stuff after connecting to DM's chat server, you'll type /join #publicforum and BOOM! you'll be in the room with Frank. He can talk you in for a landing from there. Or if you forget that, type /msg Frank HELP ME DAD! and he can do it from the ozone, too. We're (DM staff) thinking about adding a regular weekly chat for stampers, with like guest speakers and programs and classes and stuff, which initially would be open to all list members. Maybe forever open to all list members, or may turn into DM members only after a few months. Is there any interest in that sort of thing? A: 1,331: 1 to change the light bulb and to post to the list that the light bulb has been changed. 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently. 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs. 27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs. 53 to flame the spell checkers 156 to write to the list administrator complaining about the light bulb discussion and its inappropriateness to this mail list. 41 to correct spelling in the spelling/grammar flames. 109 to post that this list is not about light bulbs and to please take this email exchange to alt.lite.bulb 203 to demand that cross posting to alt.grammar, alt.spelling and alt.punctuation about changing light bulbs be stopped. 111 to defend the posting to this list saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts **are** relevant to this mail list. 306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique, and what brands are faulty. 27 to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs 14 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly, and to post corrected URLs. 3 to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to this list which makes light bulbs relevant to this list. 33 to summarize all posts to date, then quote them including all headers and footers, and then add "Me Too." 12 to post to the list that they are unsubscribing because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy. 19 to quote the "Me Too's" to say, "Me Three." 4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ. 1 to propose new alt.change.lite.bulb newsgroup. 47 to say this is just what alt.physic.cold_fusion was meant for, leave it here. 143 votes for alt.lite.bulb. *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^Stargazer - stargazser@juno.com*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ for RS card samples: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/6456 for Star Trek: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/6457/ _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. I just got another abuse report for having suggested L.E.Gant as a nickname for EllieD. The post had gone to the RS list only and did *not* contain our household sig/tag line with C=64 BBS phone number. At this point I think xroads either automatically triggers on anything *I* post or on anything from goldrush.com. Our server *had* had a problem *last year* with hackers forwarding unsolicited commercial email through their site, but that was *last year*! I learned of it because I couldn't get mail to STAMPO back then because of the previous problem. Your poem and thoughts have really touched me. Perhaps both Jacob and Matt are together, having fun, remembering how much we as parents love and miss them. Later on I will be sending Matthew his birthday card, as I did last year.
