I picked up a kid's science experiment book for my Max yesterday. I read something pretty unusual in it so tonight, spur of the moment I decided to try this odd thing and see if it worked. I tried it. I did it again and again and again and I'm still amazed at the results! Try this for yourself and let me know what you think of it. Black construction paper shallow bowl or deep plate tweezer clear nail polish paper towels warm tap water Manipulate the paper with the tweezers. It'll make things lots easier. - - Take the bowl or plate and put a good amount of warm water in it. - - Then take a piece of black construction paper, (this is what was recommended - - I happened to have some handy but haven't tried cardstock yet) and cut a piece about a quarter the size of your container. - - Put the paper in the water and turn it over so that it is soaked thru. The paper should be below the waterline. - - Now take clear nail polish and drop one drop on top of the water above the black paper - - Immediately pull out the paper and put it down on some paper toweling. We often equate charity with visiting the sick, taking in casseroles to those in need, or sharing our excess with those who are less fortunate. But really, true charity is much, much more. Real charity is not something you give away; it is something that you acquire and make a part of yourself. And when the virtue of charity becomes implanted in your heart, you are never the same again... Perhaps the greatest charity comes when we are kind to each other, when we don't judge or categorize someone else, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someone's differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn't handle something the way we might have hoped. Charity is refusing to take advantage of another's weakness and being willing to forgive someone who has hurt us. Charity is expecting the best of each other. Marvin J. Subject: RS: TAN: Postage & Handling I haven't noticed excessive handling charges from any of the list vendors. But I do comparison shop. If I can buy from a list vendor (total price, including tax) for the same as, less than, or close enough that the convenience makes up for the time I would spend driving to a store, the price I can get locally (and that's a fairly large geographical area in Southern California) than I go for it. I understand list vendors have to cover their costs, and some of them do offer some pretty heavy discounts at times, but if I saw handling charges were going to make the item significantly higher than I would pay at the store, I just go to the store! I recently ordered a catalogue well-discussed on the list as a beautiful work of art in and of itself, aside from having nice stamps. And the cost of the catalogue was refundable. Let's say it cost about $4.00, though I don't recall exactly how much it really was. I figured I'd be able to get a couple of things, and I'd at least make back what I paid for the catalogue. Sounds good, right? Yeah, until I saw that the minimum shipping was $3.00--even for unmounteds only. Damned if I was going to spend whatever I was going to spend, only to have $3.00 of the $4.00 go towards postage for two or three UMs that might have run 55=A2 or 78=A2 at most. I never did mention this to the proprietors, and perhaps I should have, but there's my 2=A2 on the matter. - --Lisa ****************************************************************** ljweiner@pipeline.com Never give up on a dream just because of the length of time it will take to accomplish it. Good thing that some of you don't accept credit cards, because I can't send you a Canadian cheque, because it costs you extra to cash it in the USA I've discovered, and I don't have cash to go buy a money order (and on principle - I despise paying Canada Post $3.50 JUST to buy the US Money Order) But.......but.....HOW will I survive without those papers....... Oh, I thought I'd had a lot of "must haves" on the PALS list for computer printing cards and embellishing them, but now with getting hooked on rubber stamping and embossing, and mulberry and kozo papers, and then reading tonight's posts.....oh vey, it's too much. I'm off to bed - closing my eyes, so I can't think of all the gorgeous TEMPTATIONS on this list......
