She sent me a couple of "food" unmounts that she wasn't using (yet... right, Andrea?), some neat wrapping paper that I can use as background paper (I love doing this!), AND the most gorgeous earrings you've ever seen! They have these little chinese coin type medalions at the bottom!! Andrea knows how much I love Asian art! I'm going to wear these to work tomorrow so I can show them off!! Thanks, Andrea! I got a BIG box from Jim Stephens today! I asked the list for info on his grab bags a couple weeks ago, and have had the information sitting in my "wish" pile since then. I looked at it this morning and moved it to the top of the pile, thinking after the bills are paid (DH got paid yesterday) I might be able to order one of those wonderful sounding things! Well... I get home from work... pick up my mail, and HOORAY ... there's a box from Jim!! I couldn't believe this!! It contained a BIG grab bag of the coolest unmounts (some cats, a lion--to be used in my swap--, 2 cool panda bears, a whole bunch of pretty butterflies, and tons and tons more) I've not had time to look at them all, but if you're thinking of ordering one of these, they are well worth it!! Jim (and my SSS6) also included some little boxes, cloth bags, and samples of his quickie mount... I really like this stuff, and may have to seriously consider it for my most used unmounts!! There was also a catalog in there... I'm drooling over some of the sayings, and they're only $1 each in unmount... $3 in mounted... pretty good deal!! I loved this package!! Understand??? Clear as mud I am sure. So hard to put it into words. Same goes for the right side. Basically, if you tape on the top side of the strip you inserted, it will work. A lovely wedding anniverary card (celebrating 13 years next Monday but wouldn't you know it like Moovis my hubby will be away on business on our wedding anniversary!!) and now I will try to describe it and do Ally's card justice. It is a beautiful marbled peachy/pink coloured cs with has been layered firstly with peachy tissue paper which has that nice torn edges done in like a diamond shape then some lovely white wispy mulberry paper (I'm guessing here cos it is just so fine and I think it is mulberry paper but it might be some other kind of exotic paper). Then Ally embossed a lovely rich pink heart on glossy white paper and cut this with deckle (sorry if I have guessed this wrong as well) scissors and put it right in the middle of the layered paper. A totally beautiful effect and I love it!! Thank you for the RAK Ally and it brightened up my whole day! Would like to know (maybe put a yes or no in front of each number of ones you do or don't agree with) If you put it in between I get lost. Also, let me know about the suggestions at the end--I think they're all valid and were gleaned from a lot of people, not just the five or six it might appear. If you have any suggestions to add let me know also. Am wanting to get this going SOON. I'm personally planning to go to digest for a month or so, as DD is expecting a baby in two months--she continues to have problems, so it could be sooner, and I'm not ready. I'm doing blessing outfit, quilts, and other things. I am still planning to do this club, but want to get it all set up and going before I get into digest mode (not even sure how that works, and am waiting for info on it, but just can't keep up with all the mail!!! I am so curious and even though I delete a lot, I also read a lot) If my going to digest worries anyone, maybe I could get it all going and someone else could take it over--am willing to do that, also. Whatever, I think a lot of people want to do this so think it's worth the efforts to get it FLYING!!! :) Eileen 1. Do we need a name--Angel Flight (as in we're sending angel cards through the mail as someone said) seems to be most well-received name--still open to suggestions, though 2. How about sending out no more than five cards a month--with the understanding that if you get a card, you should return one. Do you want to send to next five people after your name on the list, or five random people?. If you want to send more cards than five, how about it's to other than the club members--maybe nursing homes, hospitals, etc.? Just not sure on this as most don't want to feel overwhelmed, and some want to make 20 cards and send them all out immediately. 3. If you send one to someone and never get one back, just don't send again. 4. But if you do get a card, you should EVENTUALLY send one back, but does not have to be immediately. 5. We'd need each other's snails, so send those to me--I'll compile it and send it on to everyone. Please help me by including your e-mail addy in the body of your letter--not right here. If you already sent your addy to me and have no comments to make on these "rules" you don't need to re-send. 6. Items do not have to be cards--can be cards, postcards, magnets, pins, bookmarks, books, etc. 7. Do have to acknowledge receipt of cards on line and/or post descriptions--up to individual, but would be nice to at least privately let the person know their item go to you, if you aren't able to mail something back to them relatively soon. 8 if you decide to send to more than five people, maybe let the "extras" know they don't have to send you one back--that sounds sort of tacky to me--just don't want anyone stressing because they got too many or because they sent a bunch and no one sent them one in return. 9. Let me know if you've not been receiving, so if someone wanted to know who to send one to, keeper of list could suggest your name. 10. items need to have something to do with angels--doesn't need to be stamped--could be on a background paper, a saying, a charm, button, etc. 10. Do need to say its from Angel Flight on your card so people know where and WHO it came from. If it's a magnet, pin or something you can't write your name on, include a slip of paper 11. Please include e-mail addy with your name. Some suggestions others sent in: What if we took the list and rotated through it. ie: 20names, you send to the next five on the list after your name. The nextmonth you send to the following five - until you've completed the list. That way everyone is sure to get a card from everyone else. .Also, shouldn't they be sent by a certain time of the month. Time-lines keep everyone more accountable. How about just "Angels" for a name. At the end of the list (hope others joinso its never ending) we can start sending five cards to anyone and at thatpoint it could become reciprochal. I think by designating names and setting time limits, it defeats the purpose of having an "no-stress" club. It is more like signing up for a swap, where you have a certain amount of items and a certain period of time to get them done. I myself would not be as interested in joining a club where there are time limits as I already have lots of ommitments with swaps going on. I'm not saying I'm not commited to sending back cards when I receive them, but having to do this on a timed basis is not as appealing to me. I am in the CCCC and also the BLC, and I find that people are usually pretty prompt in sending back items. I try and send back within a week or two at most. _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Cut strips of scrap paper and/or cardstock in varying widths. 1/8", 1/4", etc. Arrange them on the sticky side of the carpet tape in whatever pattern you choose. Line them up all going the same way or crossways or random...anything is fine. I've been sponging a little metallic or pearlescent paint over my strips when I get them all laid down to sort of bring them together. Then you can cover your strips with a couple of coats of clear embossing powder or Amazing Glaze. Take the backing off and stick your piece to some cardstock. Is it that romantic tune that was playing the night you met your DH? Is it the great little rock 'n roll number you used to dance to as a teen? What about that feel-good song you belt out in the shower, or the one you crank up and sing along to on the car radio? Now think of how you can interpret your best-loved song in a rubber-stamped creation. It can be anything - card, postcard, whatever - so long as it represents YOUR favorite song. You may include lyrics if you desire, or just say it in pictures! We're going to have fun with this one.
