A very modest lady applied for a job at the factory where they made "Tickle me Elmo dolls". It was Friday and almost quitting time and hurriedly the boss told her to report for work on Monday. He quickly explained to her she would be stationed on the assembly line just before the dolls were packed into boxes. On Monday they started up the line and within twenty minutes had to shut it down because one worker couldn't keep up. The boss went down the line to find the problem. The new employee was very busy trying to do her part, but she had a bunch of dolls waiting for her. Closer examination showed she was sewing little cloth bags containing two walnuts in the appropriate place on the dolls. The boss could not control his laughter and said, "Lady, I said to give each doll Two----Test----Tickles." You can see through the mount so you can see exactly where you are stamping. You can also combine more than one stamp on a mount instead of stamping several individual images on a card. You put the loop side of the industrial strength Velcro on the back of the um. It has a sticky back so it is easy to put on. Then you just put the um on the acrylic mount and the Velcro holds it together. There are several people on the list that have expressed an interest but don't want to spend $20.00 for the starter kit of HALOS plus the $5.99 for the yard of loop tape and $15.00 for the Kai scissors without knowing they like the system first. So this got me to thinking that what people need is a trial kit that would be very inexpensive and still something useful if they find that HALOS aren't the way they want to go. So what I have to offer is a HALOS grabbag. It has a 1" x 1" acrylic mount with the hook tape already in the recessed grooves and 5 postage size ums that already have the industrial strength loop tape on them. All of this for $5.00 including shipping in U.S. Add $1.00 shipping to Canada and $2.00 shipping to Australia. The HALOS starter set does not have the 1" x 1" mount in it so if you decide you like the system there would be no duplication of mounts. The postage size ums include a dragon holding a heart, a blue bird getting ready to land, a butterfly in flight, a scarecrow in a frame looking at a sunflower, and a frog on a lily pad. For those of you that are already sold on the idea of HALOS I have a special for you too. Free shipping in U.S. when purchasing the HALOS starter set along with my UM Grabbag. You can see the image in my grabbag at http://www.kans.com/~stamps/plate.htm The HALOS starter set consists of four acrylic blocks. Sizes included are l.5" x l.5", 2" x 3.5", 2" x 6", and 3.5" x 4.5". Each set comes with 1/4 yd of 4" loop tape. The whole set of 4 and the tape is $20 (plus $3 shipping if purchased without the um grabbag). Additional tape is available for $5.99 per yard. A good pair of scissors is a must to cut through the rubber and industrial strength loop tape. KAI scissors are wonderful. They are actually scissors for trimming Bonsai trees. Stampers use them for cutting ums (unmounted rubber). They are very sharp and cut through rubber like it was butter. I sell the Kai scissors for $15.00 plus $1.00 shipping. Let me know if I can ever help you with anything! I accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and checks. He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning...to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth, and now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own; the cars, the house, the cash. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard, are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left. (You could be at "dash mid-range.") If we could just slow down enough to consider what's true and real, and always try to understand the way other people feel. And be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile, remembering that this special dash might only last a little while. So, when your eulogy is being read with your life's actions to rehash... would you be pleased with the things they say about how you spent your dash? Shaunna: Boy bunny on old fashioned tricycle. Layered on white and then on brown cardstock. Nice touch of adding photo corners to make this look like a photograph. Great card and great idea! Kim: Cream cardstock with dark green over it, with gold embossed fishes. Layered over this is cream cardstock with a fisherman bunny. How cute! Great card! Unknown: Cute bunny getting her tea sweetened directly from the hive. Nice card! This is the same design I used for the swap. Elizabeth: Tan cardstock with green exotic paper over it. Cute bunny soaking in the bath. I love the bubbles. They look so real. How did you do them? Great card! Unknown: Grean cardstock with pastel multi color paper layered over it. In the center are two lady bunnies exchanging gossip. Great card and wonderful job of coloring it! I love how you framed it too! Misti: grey cardstock with purple mulberry paper over it. Two bunnies exchanging a hug in the center. Very nice card! Eva: Two bunnies in a row boat with the saying "The only way to have a friend is to be one", layered on purple cardstock. I love this image. Nice card! Carole: Turquoise cardstock with plaid paper layered over it. The center is nicely framed with glitter and has the garden bunny beautifully stamped and colored in. Very nice! What kind of glitter glue do you use to get such a fine line? Donna: Scene of a rose covered trellis, clouds and grass, Two hugging bunnies are layered to look 3-D. Very nice card. Good job of putting in clouds and grass! Donna: Great card made to look like a room complete with wallpaper and carpet. Wicker chair is a great stamp (who makes it?). In this room is the cute bath tub bunny. How did you do the bubbles? They look so nice! Wonderful card! Thanks everyone! I use it on my evelopes and most other things. It will last you FOREVER! One hint one of the list members gave me was to put a light coating of petroleum jelly (or equivalent) around the rim of the lid to make it easier to get into. That stuff really sticks! Also - I've had the same trouble that several of you have had in finding a good glue for Vellum. Most (even YES glue) are too wet and it shows through. Today I was rummaging around in my office supply room, and found several tubes of Avery Permanent Glue Stic. I had printed a poem on vellum and wanted to attach it to a card I was making for a co-worker. Used this stuff and it worked like a charm - didn't show through. Dearest SS, Annie is down for her nap (we had some good cuddle time while she watched Pecos Bill) so now I can take the time to truly thank you for all the delightful goodies you sent. Your package couldn't have had better timing. As I wrote you earlier, I had to keep Annie home today due to a cold and conjunctivities, which threw a life-size monkey wrench into our plans to finish up writing the descriptions for our auction catalogue. I'm so glad I can be home with her, but I just wish she were feeling better. And...we're waiting on some additional news re my dad. I haven't talked much about it, but he's likely going on dialysis soon (we had the access put in last week) and his doctor appointment today showed fairly severe anemia, severe enough that he may need a transfusion. Thankfully both Howard and I (and my sister) are the same blood type, so if they want to have us donate we can... That's why your package was a much-needed pick-me-up today. I loved the RS- and birthday- related stickers on the outside, many of which I hadn't seen before: "I ink, therefore I stamp;" "I stamp whatever the little voices tell me;" "Will work for stamps;" "She who dies with the most stamps wins;" "Studies show that 43% of those who rubber stamp are escapees from mental hospitals, and the other 57% plan to escape soon;" and my favorite, "Age is a case of mind over matter. If you don't mind then it really doesn't matter." One was slightly obscured by the Priority Mail sticker, but it begins "Conform..." I'd love to know what it says. Now, to the inside of the package. First, a beautiful handmade photo frame card (garden images) which will be perfect for one of Annie's school pictures when they get here. It's so delicately colored--I'd guess watercolors or pencils, but the texture is so smooth. I'd almost think they're Trias... I love the way you've blended light and deep shades for shadowing and dimension. Anyway, it's gorgeous, and every time I look at it I'll remember you're thoughtfulness. (Btw, I love the image--whose is it?) Next is a clear envy of stickers for Annie. She will love these. What a treat they'll be for her when she wakes up. Thank you. Next...aha, there's a theme here! Two fabulous (mounted) coffee images from Uptown Rubber Stamps: "Wake Up!!" by Lori Walters and "Hearts and Coffee" by Jennifer Hewitson. I've loved their art since it was released by "That's All She Stamped, and I am especially delighted to have these. More coffee stuff: the Stamp Attack "Coffee Break" set from ANM. Cool. I love these images. (More stuff to mount on HALOS!) And there's more! Two gorgeous sheets of handmade paper--and I KNOW you did these yourself. One sheet is pink with leaves and flower petals embedded into the paper. It's beautiful. The other is lavender with gorgeous copper flecks. What are these? Are these some of the Perfect FX mica chips? Or is this some kind of foil? Whatever it is, it's fabulous. And more! A huge bottle of Perfect Paper Adhesive. A spool of lovely gold wire edge ribbon. A packet of 10 crystal clear envelopes. And oh! this is too funny--a plastic medicine-capsule labelled "StampZac: Rx: Therapy for the Stamp-addicted / Stamp as needed." I just saw an ad for this somewhere. Inside is--oh wow, a jar of Small Stardust Perfectfx! You know I've been wanting to try this. And four phrase UMs, and a double-sided Star of David sticker. Too, too, neat. And all snugged up safely in lovely pinky-mauve excelsior. Thank you also for including the photo of your son. He is very handsome in his hockey uniform. And don't worry, you've done a great job of obliterating all the personal info on the back of the card (it's done like a sports card, picture on front, stats on back) so I can't even begin to figure out who or where you are. (Except that your hubby is the coach?)(And this package was mailed from Reno.) My dear SS, how you spoil me. And notice I haven't even mentioned the birthday present and card (all I can see is more excelsior stuffed into a plastic box I can use for storage later). Ok, I promise I'll be good and won't open this until Tuesday. But...something smells good! Thank you so very, very much for all your thoughtfulness and good wishes.
