I am amazed at the cards I get back each time I play in a swap...who said that rubber stamping is "just a craft"???? These are definitely works of art!! From Donnajo....A very elegant card...done on beige cardstock. What kind of paper is that Donnajo????? All of the corners are done with a decorative rounder..in the upper right corner is a "thank you" stamp...then there are 3 heart/flower stamps embossed in gold. The hearts are partially colored with pink and green Rub Ons...very nice Donnajo..thanks much!! From Jessica Edwards....A pink speckled card with a cute little girl stamped on the front. I am puzzled as to how this card was done!!! It looks like it has been completely colored with Rub Ons..but I don't know if that is correct or not!! However it was done, it is very nice Jessica...thanks!! From Shel....What a cute card! Done on tan cs, all of the edges are rounded...in the middle of the card is a bear with a honey pot..and it says "Happy Birthday" to the left of the bear. There are also little bees flying around the bear. Shel used Rub Ons around the word stamp, on the "honey", and then all over the background. There is also a nice little purple/gold ribbon in one corner. This card is great!! Thanks much Shel! From Wendie Wu...Very cool card..and again, I am totally guessing as to how this was done. It looks like rub ons were used to create a solid background..and then covered with clear EP (??). On the right side of the card, there are 3 "W" images...these have been colored in with rub ons. I am not doing this card justice I know...it is really nice, but hard to describe! Thank you Wendie!! From Sandy...Wowzers!! This is a great card. The cardstock is awesome..a rust color with tiny black specks in it..I have never seen this before. The front of the card has all kinds of timepieces stamped on it in black...over this is a piece of black corrugated paper "colored" slightly with copper rub ons. Then there is a square stamped with numbers...covered with UTEE (I think)...there are touches of metallic color on top of this also. In the bottom corner is a nice little saying. This card is REALLY nice Sandy..thanks!! And thanks to AJ for hosting..and for sending the card with all of the participants names..and the little "handstamped postage"! Mar 8 with what we thought was the flu. By Wed of that week he still couldn't keep anything down so they tried the suppositories. That didn't work so Thurs. Mar 12 they put him in the hospital. (My father has a 16 yr old head injury so it is hard to communicate with him on top of everything.) They put IVs in and etc. and then on Sun. morning decided to do surgery. They found a burst appendix (don't know how long it had been burst) and an abcess on the colon. He is in a lot of pain, but doesn't know how to express pain. He has been horrible. He pulled the NG feeding tube out of his nose several times, he pulled the central IV out of his neck, and it takes 3 of us to keep him in bed. He has lost 25 pounds in the last 2 weeks. He has had nothing to eat or drink since that Thurs. the 12th. We stayed all night with him Thurs, Fri, Sat. and then after his surgery they said they would give him something to sleep - it doesn't work on him!!!!!! So he has kept them up all week. Yesterday his fever spiked up to 104 and they tried to do a cat scan to see if they could find anything else. He couldn't keep that stuff down or in the other end - what a mess. Between 12 and 3 this morning we had to completely change the bed 3 times!! I've had migraines since last Saturday when I stayed up all night with day on Friday night!!! I stayed again last night until 3:15 am this morning and now I have another doosy. On top of all this - my sister had gall bladder surgery on Wednesday at the other hospital and they found something wrong with her liver. It had a nodule on it as big as my fist. Now they have to do a catscan on Mon. and they think she will have to have another surgery. I sure hope it is nothing serious. She is a real tough cookie though. BUT - I haven't been able to respond to some of my e-mail and just wanted to let you know that I am not ignoring you - I'm just worn out and I am at the hospital most of the time. I know I missed several birthdays also. Sorry. Happy, Happy Birthday to all those stampers who's birthdays I've missed the last couple of weeks. Rubber Hugs, Debbie ooooooooohhhhhhhh my head hurts. If you have any extra prayers, my Mom, sister Toni, my dad George, and my family could sure use your extra prayers right now. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Hey, wanna stamp? You get what I al- ways thought of as a "skid mark." Kind of a shinier, smoother streak. I didn't like this. So, now what I have is a stylus tool for scoring the card, and then I went to the hardware store and got what I think is a wallpapering tool, a roller for smoothing seams in the paper while you're putting it up. It's got a wooden roller, nicely sanded and finished, and smooth rounded edges. It's about an inch and a half wide, and it cost, I think, a dollar. I love this thing, it's one of my tools that I wouldn't be without. I score the card, fold it, and roll it along the fold. It's never made a mark of any kind on any card stock I've used, ever, and this is why I like it so much. So, I'm not telling you it's BETTER necessarily, just better for me. Just my .02. Hi Melissa! LOVE the idea of using glittery nail polish on cards! KEWL! I'm going to check that out. In the meantime, I wanted to let everyone know about a catalog called American Science and Surplus. It's free, and contains a lot of "overstocked" and surplus kind of stuff - mostly science/lab/mechanical, but they also have incredible deals on stuff like ribbon (7/8" wide satin ribbon - 250 yards for $2.75) and double-sided foam tape - 80" for TWO BUCKS!!! The latest issue has almost every color of those wee tiny holeless beads you can glue onto cards - for an amazing $1.00 per ounce! I don't think they're the "Beedz" brand per se (it doesn't mention), but it's the same product. How about colored paper? 24-bond in pastel or brite combos, or single colors of rose, lemon, strawberry, robin's egg blue and shamrock. $3.25 for a pack of 50 sheets - can't EVEN beat that!!! They also have 10-foot rolls of cling vinyl for about $3.00 for those of you who use the vinyl/acrylic block mounting method. Check it out! All I want to know is do we get better before we get senile! Still can't believe some of the stuff I've done lately totally out of character. Came home and planned to run some more errands, but then decided no, yes, finally went back outside to find the driver's door wide open---this from some one who puts the club on for a five minute stop. Doing laundry in community facility, came back at end of last dryer load and last quarters, and found the door wide open and my clothes as wet as when they came out of the washer.Wrote a nasty note, but then the nagging suspicion that I forgot to close the door to activate dryer, made me remove it. I'll never know for sure. Loose my thoughts quicker than my money, etc. I need a fairy god-mother! Sally K.
